Theme: One of my favourite things about arcade style fighting games as a kid was working out how to do each character's signature moves. I want you to create an animation of a brand new signature fighting move for this (or your own) character sprite!

Rules:
- Your animation must follow the theme above.
- No size, colour or frame limits.
- You may animate the supplied sprite, modify and animate the supplied sprite or draw and animate your own sprite.
- All entries must be posted in this thread by the deadline below.
- The host of the competition will judge the winner.

Supplied Sprite:

For those of you who like to use layers, I've added a second version of the sprite with the body and arms ready for adding in to seperate layers. Remember you don't have to use this sprite, you can draw your own!

Deadline:
All entries must be in by the 2nd of September!

Remember that a signature move can be as simple as shooting laser beams from the eyes or poking someone in the eye, so don't stress if you have trouble producing an animation; all entries are welcome!

Oh, radsauce, I wasn't the only entry  :D

Nice work, Matti, thanks OneDollar, and I hope you all come and join in the next comp :)

Hehe, happy birthday Dan and Mashpotato  :D

If only the threads started about game design topics and the like got this much activity...

I'm sure we all agree that the perception of anything is relative to your circumstances, and therefore we'd be able to argue about this sort of thing all day.

At least Miguel got his wish for a thread about religion  :=

The animation of

ruined my life.

But other than that, cool game  :=

I like the fact that you can try different things, there is a fair bit of replay value :D

QuoteYes, I know that this layout as-is looks sloppy and rubbish.

Compared to the old layout? Heck no, it looks great. I love some of the cool ideas such as Lucky Dip :).

Can't wait until you guys get this sorted and up as the new website  :D

Really cool!

I loved the way the graphics, writing and audio all come together to form a solid and atmospheric world. The graphics took me a little while to get used to, but I soon fell in love with them, and the puzzles made perfect sense to me without being too easy - although

Spoiler
I agree that the robo-chip puzzle - specifically getting the green on - was a little confusing at times (mainly because I didn't have the multitool when I first tried it)

I really like some of your colour and perspective choices on the backgrounds, and I really got sucked into your world and story. Fantastic work, especially since it is your first! After I played the game I looked at all the little extra things bundled up with the game and thought they were a very cool touch  :D

Nice work on the music, Sebastian  :=

All in all I have to say I absolutely loved the game, and I really hope you make more in the series!

Thanks, Scavenger :).

I think we should all just go back to code wheels with silly faces on them ^_^.

Hear hear!  :D

ProgZ: When I was making it, I definitely had more of an interactive story in mind than an actual game. Good to hear you enjoyed it!  :D

Ultra Magnus: I found myself quite hard pressed to incorporate more puzzle elements into the game - I felt that they would get in the way of the story and interrupt the flow. Besides, I put nothing but puzzles in Shifter's Box, so I thought a change would be nice ;). Thanks for playing!

Frodo: Thanks for playing, and glad to hear you like the music!

Aye, happy birthday SPC :)

Edit: And you, GarageGothic! Your birthday doesn't show up on the little forum notifier, but don't think I didn't see what you posted!  ;D

Still having trouble getting that strong lighting to look any good  :-\

I tried doing a more varied backdrop but still tried to keep the framing nice and focused on the house at the golden ratio. The yellow light didn't really mix as well as I had hoped, and most of the brushstrokes are horribly lacking any elegance, but layout wise I'm fairly pleased with it.

I finally finished it  :D

Some of the puzzles took me a fair while to figure out, but that's by no means a bad thing - I felt that the puzzles were for the most part all very well designed. I really liked some of your ideas - particularly the text adventure.

Good show, and I really look forward to buying the next game from you chaps!

SuperDre: Thanks, it is nice to see that my attempts to improve my graphics have not been in vain! I've never played Loom, but have seen it mentioned a couple of times in relation to Heed now, so I'm interested to play it!

Old skool rulez: Glad to hear you enjoyed it, even if you didn't understand it ;)

david: Thanks for linking me! What I could understand of it (with the help of Google) was very interesting to read, so I appreciate you mentioning it to me :)

Seems like I still need to convince myself to be less wimpy with the lighting, but I thought I'd have a shot at doing a science fiction style sketch (recycling an idea from an old sketch):

Lighting wise it probably isn't really an improvement, but I actually felt quite comfortable laying it all out - which I am quite happy about. A bit odd colour wise, but I'm pretty happy with the result composition wise.
