All your entries so far have been so darn great!

Brilliant stuff guys, I hope we get a few more!

Haha, thanks Matti, it's not Australian, we really do speak normal Queen's English, except for people like me who can't slepl. Selpl. Slpel. Spell.

I before e, except after c BEN! (or before gh :P)

...and to think I won the award for being top of my English class two years in a row at high school :P!

Guilty Gear has some absolutely fantastic animation! I took notes on doing animations while playing that game!

But then again, the Metal Slug games have absolutely awesome animation as well :D

Chentzilla: If you noticed while Annie was trying to get a flirt on with Mailbot, he notifies Annie that "Further activities will be completed when they are recieved from RoboHQ". The reason he stays in the same spot is because he does not recieve any further orders from RoboHQ. Thanks for playing, and I hope you enjoyed :).

Ghost: Interesting to see another person's perspective on the world, and you are quite right, most of the robots exist for a sole purpose, which they refuse to deviate from. It made sense to me to make them completely set in a certain series of activities that they would carry out, and helped me to make Mailbot all the more lovable ;D

Buloght: I am really glad you completed it, and I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for the nice words, and if all goes well I should have something new for you to play through soon :).

I would also like to give a big thanks to the review panel guys for their nice comments and nice rating :-*.

I would also like to say a big thanks to everyone who has played the game. Seeing 1000 downloads on the games database ticker in just over a week is very encouraging, and I really appreciate you all taking the time to play!

And lastly, and briefly, before I spend too much time talking, a huge thanks to TIGSource.com who were kind enough to put the game as a front page feature last week. This absolutely blew me away and made my year!

I can't wait to show you guys what we've got planned for you to play next :D!

This is as simple as making a new view and then placing:

Code: ags

cCharacter.ChangeView(2);

in your script, at the part where you want the character to change.

In the manual, have a look under the Character.ChangeView and Character.LockView entries :).

If he was so scared to eat dessert before his main meal he should of mushed it all together.. It might of tasted better, and solved his problems.

This is adventure gamer's instinct at work:

Having problems with something? Try combining all your items until you find the solution.

I guess it could be kinda funny... but:

QuoteI was the hungriest I’d been in my adult life and I had a splitting headache from squinting at a crackling screen.

Far out man, toughen up a bit. Unless this was meant to be a joke, it's a pretty lame thing to say. "Hungriest I'd been in my adult life"? Because you missed a single meal? Forgive me if I don't feel any sympathy for this person.

Sorry to be the party pooper.

Surprised that when MAGS hosted themes about drugs and sex, we had winners by default.

Then your MAGS topic better not be Rock 'n Roll!

If it is I am SO entering!

Hmmm, I used the AGS quick upload site which is usually very reliable!

Here is a link to the same pic on imageshack, in case there are problems with that image:

Thanks for letting me know :).

I like it when there are straightforward, logical solutions to break up the more esoteric puzzles in a game.

If we're allowed to get technical, we could discuss how using more obvious puzzles in between the "think outside the box ones" creates more 'dynamic' gameplay - rather than having the player doing the same thing all the time (ie, screwing screws with his screwdriver all game long or using the broken spectacles with the bright light to set the goat cheese candles alight, setting off the midget doorman's allergies causing him to drop the springy hat, then going onto other convoluted combinations for the rest of the game) you could strategically place more logical puzzles in certain positions to give the player a nice change of pace or advance the story, which would be taking a note from movies where you get fast story progression and slow story progression to make things more interesting.

Which is basically what ProgZ said in about 120 more words :P.

You've just battled your way through the first level of the mage's tower/infected space ship/irradiated sewer/abandoned mine and you've found the stairs that lead to the next level. It looks like you're going to have to get past this thing first... but hang on, what IS that thing!?

Outline can be flipped/rotated in any manner you please, have the canvas resized etc. The outline can be broken or added to, providing it is clearly recognizable in the final image.

I look forward to seeing some cool entries!

Dualnames: Perhaps it is your interpretation of it that makes it dirty!

Hofmeier: Thanks for playing and commenting, and also thanks for your nice compliments!! Glad you enjoyed the game :).

What about doing it coz it's fun and doesn't take heaps of effort - it is only a pencil sketch...

We enter sprite jams and stuff for fun, I don't see why we cannot enter a sketch a level competition just for fun :). I can understand why these people don't want people playing around with a level editor they spent ages building, and I can also understand why you'd be reluctant to enter.

But let's be positive about a fun little competition! (wow, I sound like my teacher when I was 4  :-[)

It is a game making forum right? You do make games from time to time? Do any of you actually want to be in the games industry?

Yeah, it is! Yeah, I do! Yeah, I do! :D

This comp looks like fun and also kinda easy to enter :). I would love these people to make a level that I drew!

Only problem is that I suck at drawing with pencils  :'(

Edit coz you edited:

Quoteor have any clue how to go about it??

No, I don't  :'(

Time for another Backround Blitz! :D

Theme: Graveyard

This theme is open to interpretation; while you are welcome to do a spooky cemetary, I would also love to see some entries like old car junkyards or similar sorts of ideas!

Restrictions: Background must be drawn at a resolution supported by AGS, however if your background is clearly scrollable this will be allowed. No other restrictions.

Voting starts 11th Feb 2009, unless more time is requested.
The voting will be done in these categories:

Idea - The underlying idea to the background. Doesn't
necessarily have to coincide perfectly with the theme of the
week, just strike you as interesting/amusing/inspiring; a place
you'd really enjoy visiting within a game.

Atmosphere - How well the image manages to evoke a certain feeling or mood.

Design - How well the elements in the image are designed,
such as landscapes, buildings, decorations, clouds, doorknobs,
etc.

Composition - How well the elements in the image work
together/are positioned in relation to each other.

Functionality - How well it would work when adding sprites,
including appropriate walking distances, a good angle for
character sprites, clever walkway solutions, easily understood
exits, etc.

Technique - How well the ideas are executed in form of
rendering.

Have fun, and I look forward to your entries!

(NO HHGTG BASED COMP I PROMISE)

My faith in humanity is restored.

THANK YOU

I had fun entering this one, and enjoyed the other entries.

Great work guys, I will make another comp soon :).
#2219
Haha Helme, perhaps this cleaning bot of yours is really the mysterious sweep bot Annie is assigned to as partner at the start of the game? Seems suspicious...

To DrWhite, you have my thanks for your lovely comments and for playing :).

I don't really think that saying "I don't normally sleep with stinking Nigerian whores" is particularly amusing.

I agree, this is not funny at all. In fact, I didn't even bother checking the website out. Calling people names like that, scammers or not, is in poor taste.

I did find the fake ID that was posted in this thread hilarious, however.
