I find it works better as 'Beneath a Real Sky'.

Please make a game. Even just a short one, with like 3 rooms. Or 2 rooms. Please!

The face seems to be on a slightly different angle, and the way the light shows through the wool seems slightly different.

I think I've seen enough of TheJBurger's stuff to believe this is his work, but damn, it be very close to the original.

I think that if you were to make certain parts of a background out of focus to show depth, it wouldn't be overly realistic, so to say.

Our eyes focus on the thing we are looking at, so if we look at something, it comes into focus. If we made part of the background blurry to show it was some distance away, or closer, it would not come into focus when we look at that part, and that doesn't really, in my opinion, resemble real vision.

This being said, I remember Myst IV: Revelation had things come into focus when you pointed the camera at them, and blurred back out when you moved it away. This seemed to work rather nicely. All this being said, I think backgrounds with everything in focus are probably the best way to proceed.

As for criticism, the first image you posted has grass with smooth, clearly defined areas. I believe they would work better with less defined edges.

I just got Dreamfall: The Longest Journey and chuckled at the Australian accent in that.

I wish all Australians would talk like the ones in computer games.

I did a hopefully less pillowy version with Pablo's pallette.

The sprite is pretty small - it's probably easier learning to shade on a larger sprite.

Hot showers. I believe even Einstein asked "Why do I get all my best ideas in the shower?".

Also, talk to a friend about your idea (find one who owes you some listening time or is interested in it, of course). If you're lucky, they'll ask you questions which you'll have to invent answers for, and it can help you build up a story.

I think potentially a character is a good place to start. Think up an unusual character and then put them in a situation you'd not expect to find that sort of character in - then consider how that particular person would solve the problems that arise.

I find your post less than friendly, Mykayel.

Gord - the screenshots are looking better and better. Especially curious about the one which appears to have a character falling. Looking forward to this - for some strange reason I enjoy being scared silly.

Hehehe! You managed to find a photo with the exact expression!

Also, the one on the left has arms that are folded, however they don't look quite right. The hand probably shouldn't be so far away from the arm - fold your arms and look at them - you should see one hand resting on the bicep.

Looking good. Hope to see this up soon.

I think he means the ace.

Make sure you edit the number of clubs on the cards to match the value of the card.

I second Nine Toes with Moby Dick.

Hey Smiffy,

First of all, please make sure you ask these questions here in future, but to help you with your problem make sure you've done the following

Spoiler
- Talked to both doors in the right order
- Talked to your friends at every step of the way - this is essential throughout the game
- Used the memo on one of the people you've talked to
[close]

Cheers

Ben

Ah!

Thankyou for that. And we thought we did so well.  ;)

Everyone's a winner, baby, that's no lie (yes, no lie)

But seriously, well done to Rubywaves and Pelican and ProgZmax (again).

Long shot, worth a try... otherwise, please try to be a little more specific with your questions.

In which Sparky renders the spooky.

Excellent unintentional glowing eyes aside, your model is lovely. Are you planning to do graphics for a game with Lovecraft in it? Or is this merely for your portfolio?

Hahahaha!

Since when was Wii meant to be excercise? I sit down to play mine ( ;)) and even the games with lots of arm movements are about as excercising as cooking dinner.

I bought it because I liked the new control system and wanted to see how well it could be implemented, basically. PS3 and XBox 360 seemed to be more graphics oriented, and if I wanted that I would have just upgraded my PC.

There are Wii shortages?

I don't think we have any over here in Australia - I bought mine a few months ago (deciding it was time to purchase my first console ever (heh - and first TV)) and I just walked into the shop, pointed at the box and paid.

I never realised that they were in such high demand elsewhere - perhaps the same is here but I am out of the loop?
