Sektor 13, your skills with graphics is very impressive indeed. The gameplay seems well balanced, and though I am yet to finish the game, have enjoyed the parts I have played so far immensely.

I'd just like to say that I was particularly impressed with the introduction scene with the waterfall and the grass blowing in the wind. Superb work!

My pleasure  :).

Excellent game. The setting and characters are marvellous, and Cayanne Pepper's sprites are wonderful.

Thankyou.

Darth, I am touched by your post.

It is always sad to lose a mentor, even sadder when that mentor was perhaps one of the most important ones in your life.

My sympathy towards you and others who mourn the passing of this man.

I've never actually tried doing things manga style, but I tried to change a few things:

Probably broke some golden rules of the manga style, but this is what I did:

Less fluffy socks.
Made head 1 pixel higher
Added nose, eyebrows and mouth
Removed eyelashes. Eyelashes may make things look cute, but go overboard and it makes them look girly.

You've got pixelling skills dude, no doubt there. These are just some suggestions.

I think it is too black and white-ish.

Try some more colour inside the cave:

Also its very, very grainy. Could work, but I suggest trying to use a bit less textur in there.

EDIT: oooh - just noticed. Welcome to the AGS Forums.

Steam-Arthurian? Knights, wizards and industry? Could be interesting. Make sure to keep us updated.

I like 4ID's edit. Steampunk would be excellent.... now I wanna try sprite this dude :P.

I like the new Dave Dell sprite and I thought it would be fun to try edit it. This is the result:

The second one is a higher contrast version of my original edit. Its the first high contrast thing I've done it a while and I kinda like it better that my first edit.

These are the most beautiful backgrounds I have laid eyes on in a long time. I hope the gameplay will be equivalent, and I very much look forward to seeing more about this game.

Woah! Way to work a palette ProgZmax! That's awesome!

Wow, that's definitely a lot closer to the original. Good stuff. It is a bit of a shame to see the high contrast version go, but I think this lower contrast version works a bit better.

I agree with Matt about the pixels on the neck around the collar. Apart from those, I'd say its done.

I think Grundislav's version looks more innocent partially because his eyes are very wide. I think if you tried widening his eyes he'd look much more innocent and younger.

Nikolas, its obviously something which is considered less important by most than graphics and gameplay are, but a game without music is like a sandwich with no butter - dry and kinda hard to swallow.

Music is definitely excellent for creating the mood and atmoshpere in a game, the same way it can be used in a movie. Watching movies without music would make it seem so empty, but when you watch the movie with music you don't notice it because it often fits in so well, I guess.

As much as you may think we don't appreciate the music in games, we certainly appreciate it if only for the fact that without it our games are empty and lifeless. I guess a musician becomes a sort of underdog in a game, but we really do love you music types. I guess now that I've read your post, I'll probably take more notice of music in games in the future, seeing as I've thought about how important it is. You may be depressed, but you're also raising awareness about the importance of one of the key elements in adventure gaming. Consider me enlightened.

Another question - when I type the letters on with text (in MSPaint) it comes up with all funny colours on the antialiasing. Is there to remove this other than by hand?

example:

Nice work, Jens and Brad, but Neil Dnuma has my vote.

...hopefully you won't need TOO much patience at all....

That's all I'll say for now. I hate announcing things before their time.

You're all very kind.

The letter M is for something.... innovative. A seperate menu, if you will. It will make sense in the game.

Oliwerko and Tube - thanks for your examples, and thanks everyone else for your comments. I think I have got it how I want it now, using Tube's icon example:

Further crits are always welcome, but this is a mostly finished GUI bar as far as I'm concerned.
