Different approach - with bootsies!

Dunno whether this is any better, but it be good practise for me.

EDIT: And a different one...

Yes, the black stuff is intended to be hair. I, too, got the impression that it could be mistaken for a hood, so it's not as good as I would have liked it, but I couldn't think of any way to do it better.

Dude, not everyone who wears a shirt with a metal band logo on it is a rebellious goth. I wear them occasionally and don't consider myself rebellious or a goth. I just like metal, y'know?

But anyway, enough of my whinging, and back on to the topic....

I had another go at editing the sprite (this time a bit less drastically) to see if I could give you an idea or two...

I mainly focused on the logo, the shoes and the head. Yay for metal dudes.

I kept them low saturation coz I think they'll stand out fairly well against a strong coloured backround.

Alright, I thought I'd give him some ears to stop him looking less earthworm-y  :D

Any better?

I had a go at some alterations:

Hey guys.

I did this sprite trying to get a cartoon like feel, but I'm not sure about the coloring and the shading. I know I used black outline - I thought it fitted well, but I know many are against.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

EDIT: Had a go at doing a female sprite in the same style...

Her breasts seem to be a little flat - like cardboard cutout breasts. Perhaps if you tried to show depth....

Yes, yay for black. He looks much better now that he has less of a belly. The only thing about him that reminds me of Trilby are his legs and feet, its fairly similar in style.

Heh - the line about not being able to clap anymore made me laugh. I don't like the last verse bit - especially the last line... just seems like you put it there for the sake of having another verse.

I had a quick go at moving some sprites around - didn't expect it to look so different, but this is what I came up with.

I kinda got carried away - my main aim was to take away the shadow on his shirt.

Fluke - if I may, I think what InCreator was trying to say is that you've mixed really big pixels with really small ones, giving the sprite an inconsistent feel. Perhaps if you kept all pixels the same size...

NEXT: The character's of that Mighty Ducks (I think???) hockey movie from ages ago do a scene from Jesus Christ: Superstar.

Hey Accolyte,

I was planning to edit your character a bit to show how it could be done differently, but instead I thought I would probably get it done quicker if I started from scratch.

A couple of suggestions I have:

-Use less saturated colours. The characters still look cartoony, but less MSPaint-y.
-Use less colours. Makes it easier to colour them in.
-Use shading, even if only a little.

Here's a quick one I did - next to your assassin for a rough idea of scale.

I know we're not supposed to just re-do the image, but it was quicker to show my suggestions this way. If you don't dig them, just ignore me.

Cheers dude.
