- Do you like the interface?

Yep! It makes sense for smartphones, in my opinion.

- Does it need more explanation or more of a tutorial?

I found it very easy to pick up and play, but I've been playing adventures for years.

- Do you think the graphics fit with the relatively serious story?

Yes. It reminds me of The Last Door, which has super, super low res and yet a serious story. I think the less you show, the easier it is to believe the appearance, sometimes.

Overall, I found this very enjoyable and would love to see more. The gameplay was sensible and fun, the presentation is lovely and there's a lot of polish evident in the project. I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Man, I knew I had to play this as soon as I saw Kastchey's art! I love the feeling of the world, you made a few rooms in an apartment block seem like part of a much bigger universe. I found the puzzles a bit rough/frustrating, sometimes I was guessing the solution to things. But the presence of the world, and the conversations were lovely - I particularly enjoyed that you put in a little news terminal to read. Congrats on completing your MAGS game guys! :cheesy:

I'd say a really good starting point is just working on making it look like she has a jaw, rather than a plain ellipse - this involved making her chin come out a little more and defining the underside, basically. This is easier to do in the side view, but will also help your angled view to look better as well.

This is looking very interesting, I like a lot of the ideas here, and the artworks is phenomenal. Good work! :)

Yeah, I've worked out 2 musicals/adventures in my head over the years and never even started on them because of the challenges that lie not only in making it work but also those that stem from trying to make such a game fun.

I second shadows. They add a feeling of depth. I agree that it would be worth trying a harder edge, too.

Valid points! Francisco is clearly the high one! :D

Good luck with the surgery!

Fitz: Yeah, this is something terrifying, too - when you draw something great and suddenly you have to try and replicate it and you're not sure how to get it looking that good again. That's terrifying to me, but sometimes I hate that I managed to draw something that I like simply because I can't repeat it. Also, if you're worried that I'm high while podcasting, let me assure than I'm not. I just do lots of walkcycles and don't get much sleep, which has a very similar effect on a person. :=

Calypso Starlight: Make sure you disregard all of the advice I've ever given, then. :cheesy:

This is easily the most dramatic background blitz I've ever been a part of, and I've been around these forums for years.

Dammit, Ben, you've ruined the competition ;)

Actually after looking at the standard of the entries lately I thought "I am going to have to do a good one to impress anybody" haha.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I look forward to seeing all your entries.

It'd been almost a year since I entered one of these, and the theme excited me, so here's my entry! I had fun! :cheesy:

I backed this the instant I saw it. I can't resist pixel art that pretty. :embarrassed:

I think this can sometimes happen if you alt+tab out of AGS or change to another window and then go back to it again, but I'm not sure if it's still an issue or not. I might be wrong, but it's a thought!

I agree about the music, I thought it was perhaps the strongest element. Graphics are very low res, but functional enough, the writing was quite immersive, I thought, but the music really shone for me.

Hey man, cool to see you're still around, I haven't seen anything you've drawn in ages.

I agree with Cat about the fact that you've got loads of shades you're not doing a great deal with. Contrast is really helpful for distinguishing features. I also think an issue you have here is that your sprite isn't uniform across directions; the eyes are higher in the angled views, the ears change height across views and stuff like that. I almost always like to keep everything uniform or it jumps around when a character changes direction.

I've tried an edit of the side profile because I agree it's the one that stands out, and I always have trouble with side views myself:

I changed the structure of the head to be a little more realistic, while trying to keep your cartoony feel, but a few other changes include:

-Shaded the head more like a ball, according to your described light source
-Defined the ear more explicitly with highlights & shadows
-Edited the colours (using photoshop because I'm lazy :P)
-Tried to give the ponytail some weight and clearer definition
-Shaded the neck and angled it slightly

Maybe you can find some worth in the edit, and again, it's cool to see you still around and doing stuff! :cheesy:

(special thanks to Nemo who taught me how to post images again :embarrassed: )

Gilbert Gottfried reads 50 Shades is the most unsexy thing on the internet.

Oh gosh.

Also, Inspector Wadjet sounds like an idea for a Blackwell spin-off! Go go Wadjet Eye!

I've suggested this to Dave before. He always thinks I'm joking, for some reason.

That's because he looks like he's a smelly homeless person asking if you have any change.

Ridiculous; I am entirely aware that Grundislav is a Luddite and, as such, cannot tolerate even the notion of change. :=
