2ma2 has written a neat little tutorial dealing with this problem. I think it's the same method Chikago666 described, just more illustrating.

Check it out!

I have a great soundfont collection, and now DSL, so please people, let me give you my soundfonts! :)
Ah, I guess it's my generous day. You can bring them over.Ã,  ;)

Seriously, there used to be an #AGS DC++ Channel. Wouldn't this be the easiest way to "share" some soundfonts?

Oh, and Thanks to Petteri and Sluggo for the Soundfont links!

May I ask where you found the soundfonts? I'm trying to get into music making with logic, but I'm always short on decent instruments. VST's would be welcome too.  :)

Sorry for getting off-topic.

You can also have a look at www.dosgames.com, they've got quite a lot of DOS stuff over there, including the latest DOS version of AGS.Ã,  :)

Wow, this is an awesome picture indeed!
I love the detail and the lights/shadows/colors work.

Now, I don't like to pester all of you artists with the same qestion, but - do you think you could turn the process of creating this background into a tutorial? I'd really like to learn more about the steps that led you from the sketch to the second and third version posted here. And I also don't fully understand the way you determined the shape and position of the shadows.

I really look forward to playing that game. Keep up the good work!

General Discussion / Re: Idea for AGS: Logo

Actually, I think it's kind of funny thinking how everyone would complain about a nag screen or an AGS watermark if there was one, but when nothing comparable is there, people start including something similar voluntarily.

Please notice that this is a parody of an educational film. :)

Personally, I think that it has just crossed the limits of taste and humour, as it get's very violent towards the end, but opinions are different on that movie as on any other one.

His nephew, Larry Lovage, I think.

Yeah, it's more likely that it's is nephew, as having a son would mean he had finally succeeded in...

...getting married.

Some months ago, my younger brother was totally into playing Final Fantasy, and after he had been playing for hours again, he started walking like the animated Final Fantasy characters. You know - just a tad too smooth to be real, and with the arms waving a bit too much.
Watching him was kinda funny, especially because I suspect that he didn't even notice himself. He got back to normal again, though.  :)

Wohoo - my name's in the credits?!

One more thing: I might have skipped a version, since they are released that frequently, but last time I checked, right-clicking on an option inserts on "option-off" command into the script, which can easily mess things up if you click on it accidently. I'd prefer having a context menu that lets me choose between 'option-off' and 'option-on'.

This thing is getting better and better. Keep it up!

I'd really love to participate in the soundfont exchange. I've got a really cheap sound card, but I import Soundfonts to a Logic Sampler which lets me use them anyway.

Only problem: Apart from some hammersound.net soundfonts, I don't have any, so it would be quite a one-way sharing in the first place. Would that be okay?

Oh, and is the technical part solved yet? One central place such as a website or rather a p2p solution such as DC++?

Wow, this is really useful - good work! If you don't mind, I'd really love to use this for my game project.

One question, though: would it be possible to add the ability of deleting dialogue choices? As far as I can see, there's currently no way of getting rid of them if you accidently clicked "new".

In this case, I'd consider taking the status line out of the GUI line and putting it on top or under the other two GUI elements. That way, you'd have the full screen width.
Don't know how well this would fit with your overall GUI design, though.

Whoa - I passed with seven points! And I don't even have my german license yet.

AGS games are known to be rather large in size. However, they compress very well with programs like WinZip etc.
Have you tried zipping your compiled folder? In most cases, you can reduce its size by 50% and more.

Unfortunately, the "better" windows version won't run on my Win98.

Even worse, SecondChance, whose job is to create backups of all changed files, did nothing but creating an outdated autoexec.bat file when I tried to get my system back to where it was before installing Gimp2.

I believe that's it. Thanks a lot Scummbuddy!

In my imagination, it has probably become way better than it is in reality, but I'll go checking it out now.  :)

General Discussion / Looking for an old game
Sun 28/03/2004 20:41:04
Hi there!

I had completely forgotten about this for years, but suddenly it came back into my head and won't leave:

Years ago, I went to the library and found a book about computer games and cheats, and there was one page about a small game, in which you play a little mechanic who is to keep a machine running that produces toy robots. The machine was pretty large and scrolling, and apparently you had to get to the right spot and somehow fix broken things.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Ever since that day, I wanted to play this game, but I forgot the name and have never seen it in action.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
