Mats: Your latest edit still doesn't show this guy's character.  When I look at him, I don't see a jock.  I see an average teenager with a mullet of some sort.  He doesn't look buff, he doesn't really look strong at all.  I don't associate any type of person with what I see.   BB's edit manages to convey a high school jock without using extreme physical fitness.  You should really worry about refining his character.  I really dig Ian's edit, you should follow it more closely, or at least observe more of what he and loominous are saying.

Use your ears.  Otherwise, I tend to just open Sound Club and tune to that.

I don't know of any specific tuning software, sorry.  Perhaps you should broaden your search for guitar tuning as well.

Sloppy paintover

Original:

Changes:

Won't stand up to close scrutiny; was made hastily, sorry.

Just some quick notes, it's getting fairly late here, I want to go to bed.

- I liked the blue contrast too, but it was a little too blue, so I made it match the sludge more, almost as if it were glowing.
- Darkened some areas around the edges up
- Did a quick attempt at some 'thicker' water. also darkened the ends of the water a bit.
- Pretty minor door changes

I've never been very skilled at paintovers, but hope this'll help some.

What bugs me a bit?  The symmetry.   Only one half of it was made, and then flipped over.  I think the front view's appearance would improve greatly if the two sides were not exact mirrors of eachother.

It doesn't look bad, however.  I like the character.  Disney-esque.

Well, that's because the actual nude Laura skin wasn't made by the company, nor released in every copy of the game.

In Hot Coffee's case, the material was already there, it was just a matter of getting it playable.

Graphics are expected to be good in games nowadays.  What on earth makes this a bad thing?  Are you saying you'd rather games today had total disregard for good looking visuals?  You're jumping around in your argument.  Are you bashing the First Person Shooter genre, hating pleasing graphics, or just trying to cause another pointless argument?

I see no point to this.  And how does 'Technology VS. Tradition' apply here?

I don't have time to get indepth, my apologies.  Perhaps sometime tomorrow...

Anyways, I like it a lot!  Quick comments
- There doesn't seem to be a very difinitive light source in some areas.  The hobo(?)'s face isn't shaded, that large pile in front of him is slightly done so, but there is shading on the boxes and his clothing.  It seems that the general light is coming from the left, it should affect all things.

- The hobo's hand doesn't seem very proportionate.  His ring finger looks wiggly, smaller than his pinky finger.

- If indeed he is a hobo, perhaps stubble, dirty/torn clothing and other things can help that come across.

Oh, and btw, what is he doing?  I'd appreciate it if you gave us more details, rather than "here are some sketches".   ;)

Edit: Perhaps more solid black shadows would help as well, bring more contrast.  Also, to rid it of that sketchy look, rub your thumb over it and smear it out a bit.  Keep it defined, naturally, but if you wish to make it so, it can be smoother.

I bought The Curse of Monkey Island from a local game store, a few years back.  There was Grim Fandango as well, I really wish I had gotten it.

What games should be reviewed?

The good, the bad and the ugly.

loominous:  That is one excellent background.   I love how everything present seems to bend towards the direction of the moon and castle.  It does a perfect job of leading the eye.  The wood's realism is astounding - yet, it still matches the rest of the piece.  It's a great style - quirky and original.  I especially love the use of shadow.

Well, sorry to rant, but I hate saying I like things without explaining why.

Edit:  Yeah, I vote for loominous

Edit Edit:  Oh, happy birthday!

He's looking good, but too symmetrical.  There needs to be at least some small differences between the two sides, specifically the arms.  They can possibly stay in the same general pose, but if you don't just flip one side over to the other, it'll look much better.

In my opinion, the outlines don't look very consitent.  There are black outlines, then there are colored outlines.  My advice is to stick to one or the other, but it may work the way it is.

While some simple shading wouldn't hurt, I suppose isn't necessary.

You've done a good job already!

Then don't make it 50 years.  Make it a shorter amount of time.

I used futureme once.  I was procrastinating heavily with a research paper, and sent an email to myself for a week later to see if I had done it.

Naturally, I hadn't.

Out of curiousity, is there a way to delete one's flag, too?  Or is it limited only to moving?

It's not worth one day's hassle?  After all the extra time you've requested, the polite thing would be to try.

Or you could release it for MAGS without voice acting, which is completely unnecessary.

Especially when the competition's been held back already.

...When you get a better browser? ;)

Adding mine.. not hard to do, there's already a nearby flag.   Nice work!

AGS has given me pain, frustration, and tears of exhaustion.

Nothing more.

QuoteAs for the mirror, it keeps bothering me. Instead of making Harry forget the mirror existed she could just say that he tried it out but he left it in his bedroom or something so Sirius couldn't answer.
Well, I think it was fine the way it was.  Personally, I too forgot about the mirror.  It was more of a "D'oh!" factor than a "You idiot!  Remember that mirror?"  Unless you can honestly say you remembered it the whole time.

Spoiler
Well, the 6th book said that Voldemort was blocking Harry's mind out anyways, so it wouldn't matter.  Perhaps if Harry had made minimal progress, it could have, but seeing as he didn't...

Spoiler
What about Harry saying he wouldn't return to Hogwarts?  He made it seem rather clear that he would rather pursue Voldemort.  I wish he attends his 7th year anyways, it wouldn't be as fun a book without Hogwarts.
