General Discussion / Wiisure Suit Larry?
Thu 21/12/2006 20:56:05
http://www.bbspot.com/News/2006/12/leisure-suit-larry-wii.html

"In the new release, 'Leisure Suit Larry: Upstanding Citizen,' the Wiimote will be placed into a strap-on harness for a whole new angle on the game. Now you won't only have to get the women to agree to a little bump-and-tickle, you will also have to please them enough that they don't lose interest."

"With the Wiimote strapped firmly on your hips, you must thrust and gyrate in a "pleasing" manner. For the sexually inept, your conquest just may fail and she will fall asleep, turn the TV on or just get up and leave. Those that you satisfy will earn you libido points and help you as you go along. But enough bad reviews and the girls will be laughing and pointing at you as you walk by."

Probably fake, but evoked a nice mental image all the same.

That figure seems very large compared to the room.  Is he supposed to hit his head when he stands?

Just take out the quotation mark.

You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Getting Better
Something*
While My Guitar Gently Weeps*
Baby You're a Rich Man

A tough desicion, so in the end I asked myself which songs I bug my friends with the most.   I'm usually singing one thing or another to them, and these are the most frequent offenders.

These 5 are probably on their 5 least favorite Beatles songs now ;)

*Where's the George Harrison love in this thread?

I have a suggestion. How about a white background, with a rose and a pistol?
Sounds far too similar to

Igor, as played by Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein

Very little referance used - just to get a feel for the pose.  Shading was very rushed.  Just happens to be 32 colors, not counting the background

I'd like to refine this sprite later, but won't be able to before the contest is over.

Thanks for the comments.  I've been trying to fix his left arm, but can't find a better position.  This sprite might be far enough along anyway - I don't want to spend too long on it.  More crits are certainly welcome, though.

As for the right hand, I play guitar myself.  It's fine for him to not use a pick.

Today I met Aaron Carter through a mutual friend.  He was, as one might infer, kinda annoying.

But still! :=

Edit:

Thanks to everybody, particularly Tuomas, for the critiques/compliments.

Changes should be obvious.  However, a few things still bugging me:
- Both hands
- The jean fold Matt mentioned
- Shirt folds

Any more suggestions?

This was originally made for the Sprite Jam, but I went a little overboard on colors and don't have a mind to reduce 100 colors from it ;)

This is a bit of a departure from my usual style in that I let loose the colors a little more, and the process was a little different. I started with a sketch and a couple reference pics from magazines, then moved on from there.  It's not supposed to be any one person in particular, but in my mind it was something of George Harrison mixed with John Lennon and John Sebastian

In particular, the hands/arms and the shirt are giving me the most grief.  Any help?  I don't plan on entering this in the jam anymore, so this is legal.  ;)

(Edit:)

Still not happy with parts of it.  See bottom post

Today I discovered that I can do accurate Muppet impersonations.

My repertoires includes Kermit, Gonzo (though it kinda hurts), Sam the Eagle, Statler and Waldorf, and the Swedish Chef.  Miss Piggy and Fonzy Fozzy are showing potential.

If that's not cool, I don't know what is.

Uh-oh.  Popeye needs to think fast.

I've been here nearly a year longer than you, monkey, and I haven't even reached 500.

Oops?

It looks like the guy is about to topple over.  His feet are flat on the ground, so he should have a much more stable stance.  Also, I suggest the face be shaded, not just dithered, or whatever that is.  It looks rather odd, and could read like he has widespread acne/freckles (and if intentional, that should be made much more obvious).  Plus, he has a very bland face.

Make the outline of the face darker to match the other outlines.

Is that grey streak on his sweater a design, or odd lighting that only affects that part of him?  There is no real shading at this point.  I recommend you find a lightsource and stick to it.

Zor - Note that Farlander said "POTC 1", which does in fact have the ending he is referring to.

It would be very helpful if we could actually see the results you are currently getting.

A couple basic questions... when you color, are you using lowered opacity?  Are you using some kind of layer effect to color but retain the clay texture?

You're not just painting over with solid colors, are you?

Edit: Answer my questions if you want help, dingbat!

General Discussion / Re: Was Jesus a Timelord?

If he didn't claim to be God before his resurrection, why would the Pharisees/Jews want to kill him in the first place?  If all he did was minister to others and heal, he would not have been charged with blasphemy or mocked as "King of the Jews".

The disciples did recognize him (a great number of other people did as well.  over 400, IIRC), it simply was not instant.  It makes more sense that they would doubt at first, anyway.

Also, how would a couple of fisherman been able to steal his body from the Roman guards?  Bribery would be out of the question - a guard's penalty would be a gruesome death.  The disciples had little money in the first place.

Considering that Jesus predicted his death numerous times (for example, 'this temple will be destroyed and rebuilt in 3 days'), he would have needed  to have been a part of the great resurrection conspiracy too.  And why would he willingly die for what he knew was a lie?

Talk about a "set-up" like this has existed for a very long time, however, I have yet to see any real evidence for it.
