Suspect Device: The game likes to be slow on my computer during some scenes as well (Particularly the bee scene). What help, is going into WinSetup, and changing the resolution down to 320 x 200, and turning off Anti-Aliased Scaled sprites. The graphics might not be QUITE as sharp, but it doesn't really ruin anything, and speeds up the game.

Wow, why didn't I think of that. I am an idiot!  ;D Runs nicely now!

Really great game, you guys should be proud.

Obviously I'm a little dusty at playing adventure games - I'm stuck as stuck can be.  ;D Oh well, I'll keep at it... though it doesn't help that in most scenes the game is sloooooooooooooooooow as all hell.

Is this a sign my computer is that old? I've never had this trouble with any AGS games before, though.

Most of the things people are suggesting aren't related, or are insignificantly related at best, to anything to do with CPU usage.

Pages and pages of old threads and posts do not impact the CPU usage at all. If they are sitting there, in the thousands, and nobody accesses them then all they are doing is taking up disk space. They are not using the CPU, and they are not taking up any bandwidth.

Images, icons, birthdays, things like that are having no effect or not substantial effect on CPU usage.

You can change all that, but if you still have the same amount of people accessing the same amount of threads at any one time on the forums then CPU usage is still going to be as high, and thus it's still going to be a problem.

And I honestly don't see how people offering up a bit of money now will be able to cover the costs of a decent dedicated server.  Our intentions may be honourable, but a decent dedicated server can cost $100 per month (at a minimum) AND somebody has to manage the server as well. That will become quite expensive.

I must be the only person that not only doesn't have one, but also... doesn't want and/or need one.  :P

I have to agree with Josh & SSH as well.

While it may sound nice to put that in your company profile, and possibily potential distributers or publishers may find that to be an endearing comment it sounds a little silly, and a little bit extreme.

I checked out the site, the game looks and sounds promising, but when I read that paragraph on the site I sort of thought, "Yeah, whatever" and closed the window.

There's also a handy program called 'Snagit' or something like that.

My game won't be leaked.

I don't market my games, because I have none... Actually, I am working on one and I would like to market it, but I just don't know how one would do so.

I really believe that there is a huge market out there for web surfers to download free adventure games, but how to access it is the problem. I honestly think that posting a link in the completed forums, a link on the games page, and maybe a link or two on the forums of certain other adventure gaming sites is simply not enough if you want to be really successful.

Like Timosity said, though, if it's a remake then it is easier to get people to find the game. If one were to do a remake of any classic game, there are already the fans of those, and there are those that would do websearchs for those games... which has the possibility to turn up information about the fan game. It's the same for games like FOY. Indiana Jones is already pretty popular, and that alone has the ability to provide more access to FOY.

I think there is more to marketing a game you've made than telling people on a few forums, because though that may help spread the word of mouth a little (if it's a good game), there are still untapped possibilities out there, I think.

Good post, Las. It's a pity the rest of this country aren't as smart as you.

Howard has won again.

Fuck.

As an ardent Greens supporter, I was devasted to find out that my girlfriend inteneds to vote liberal based on the fact that, "My dad wont get anywork under labor because interest rates will be so high".

I wonder if this is a good reason to break up with her.

I'd help you out, also, Evenwolf, but I don't think there's anything in my town that stands out as 'distinctly aussie'.

There were the Three Doctors (1973), The Five Doctors (1983), & The Two Doctors (1985).

That's a good idea, though. Sonic screwdriver!  ;D I guess that'd make a pretty handy inventory item?  ;D What about Bessie!?

Will any of the companions feature in it?  ;D

Something like http://www.phpjunkyard.com/php-click-counter.php should work, if you don't want to screw around trying to make the script yourself. You'll just need to download this one, and install it.

Sounds absolutely awesome!  ;D

But, what can I say? Doctor Who is absolutely awsome.  ;D I've been watching it every night since it started showing again in Australia, and I think it will be great to have a Doctor Who adventure game, and it will be awesome that you get to control each seperate Doctor. And it really does sound like a Doctor Who story, too!  ;D Love it!!

Awesome graphics, too... I'd like to see some backgrounds, though!

Seriously, I hope all goes well on this game, and you finish it! I don't think an AGS game has excited me this much before!  ;D ;D

My font has just done the opposite, actually. Everything has gotten smaller. I have no idea how I managed to do that.
