Hahaha, truly beautiful.

I think they can be okay, as long as you don't get carried away [as I have seen a lot of young teenagers do]. I think an online couple should also have plans to be together in person as soon as possible, otherwise I don't think there's really a whole lot of point. Like has been said, what happens if you finally meet up and you just don't get along well?

I met my current girlfriend online. I didn't want to waste any of my time with meaningless 'internet romance' or anything, so I arranged to meet her as soon as possible for the both of us. So I kept myself somewhat distanced until we met up...

So I hopped on a plan one day, flew over there for a weekend to see how things went. That way, if they went bad, I hadn't wasted heaps of time or money on some girl I wouldn't like, and if things went good... I hadn't wasted a good relationship on the internet.

So far it's all still working out... only been two years, though. I admit it does sound kind of lame, "So, where'd you meet your girlfriend?"

"Duhhh... on the interweb, because I have no... social... skills".

I also have a friend who met a girl from Brazil online, he's flown over there twice, and now they're married. Just waiting for her to get her visas so she can come over here, now.

I hope this is okay in the tech forum, I've never posted in here... but it feels like it may be a bit more than a beginners question...

So how would one [if it's possible] go about doing a clock that always shows what the actual time is. As per the topic subject - just like the one on the clock tower in CMI.

I'm not really very proficient at scripting, so it may be a little [a lot] over my head, but if someone can point me in the right direction (or just do the whole thing for me  :P) that'd be helpful, thanks.

I know you're all dying to look at me.

I think this forum needs to have really strict rules, that are enforced with an iron fist! It's crazy in here. I used to love checking in here for new games, but there's so much trash in here... And I know I'm guilty of it two, I've posted two games before that I eventually gave up on.

I know it'd be a bit of work... but why not have each new game thread has to be reviewed by a mod first. So the creator PM's a mod, and gives them the lowdown, the details, the screenies, and if it's sounding okay (Okay as in - it's actually being worked on, and will continue to be worked on)... then let them post about their upcoming game.

Snakes rules are good, as we ll.

I have a program called 'Widi Recognition System'. It converts MP3's to Midi. The problem is that they really suck, and you can only convert into one instrument [I think].

Speaking of both the Summer Olympics & Winter Olympics - Why is it, does anyone know, that such a huge deal is made out of the Summer ones, wheras we generally don't hear a thing at all about the Winter ones.

I've been curious about that...

General Discussion / Re: Work boredom

I have two jobs.

The first of which I don't get a chance to be bored. Cashier in a supermarket. Never a time when I'm not serving customers.

My other job is with computers - but again, every single minute is spent with customers. I set up new computers for people, and I also train beginners in how to use their computer. And so, since I go to their houses and they pay by the hour... every single minute is spent working with them.

I wouldn't mind a job where I could sit around and surf the net, or work on my game.

General Discussion / Re: Play your own games?

I do it far too often, and my game isn't even close to being finished.

I think it's more the artists work that I play through my own game for so often. I like to just load it up and savour in the beauty that are the backgrounds.

I think that is actually an excellent idea.

And welcome back, too. It always sucks to get back after going away. At least, I think it does... in a few days, it will seem as if you never went there.  :P

I will be there!

I think it would be best when the weather is warm... but yeah. That may not be doable. Mind you, I hate Coffs Harbour / Byron Bay... so I think the location should be determined by me, and me alone. Hey, why not have it right up the top of Ayers Rock. That'd be fun. Okay, okay. Wherever.

The date should be, obviously, when most people can attend. Do holidays overseas coincide with ones here? I wouldn't know. Ah well, I guess I don't have anything useful to contribute to this thread afterall...

Though who else is from Vic? We can roadtrip up there! Whooo! As long as I can borrow someones car...

48.jess and eric meet mills at the air port with a nerdy sign that says"Ace Quest". Having no knowledge of adventure games, jess is confused, Mills is more confused.

Hahaha. Damn. You all had too much fun.

I resent the use of the word 'n00b'.

Wherever it is in Australia next year... I shall be there. Prepare yourselves...

But lets not take away from the fun the guys had this year! Next year can be talked about later, methinks. How about a day-by-day listing of what went on! The drama, the intrigue, the fun, the laughter... you know...

Wow, I didn't know this sort of thing existed... I really need something like this for writing. Apart from the fact that my laptop is too bulky, and batterly life is dodgy... but something with hundreds of hours of battery life... awesome!

I can't help you out, sorry, Sylpher; but you have inspired me! I need to find a cheap one of these for myself now!

Is it possible to have a system where different interactions(talking, looking, etc) are done by holding down a keyboard button and clicking the mouse button.

I wanted to do something like:

Left click - walk.
Control + Left Click - Look at
Shift + Left Click - Talk to.

Sort of like that.

Awesome. Looks and sounds really great. Keep us posted on progress!

Yes, but so was Dynamix, and there was whining about The Adventure Of Willy Beamish earlier in the topic, so I figured I'd point it out.

Say... If Dynamix games aren't allowed, what about Space Quest 5? Wasn't that developed by Dynamix, or did it just use the Dynamix engine.

I thought SQ5 was Sciv?  ???

I'm all for vegetarianism. Yay veggies. but vegans. thats just plain stupid. It hurts, it actually hurts, a cow if its not milked. The cow was not harmed. NObody was harmed. nothing. but you won't drink milk. most eggs do not contain baby chickens. yet you won't eat eggs.

one final point. yay vegetarianism.

Veganism is stupid? Why? Because you SAY SO? Holy shit.

Eggs? This is where most eggs come from:

Is a little dignity and respect too much to ask? of course it is! They're just animals... lets throw thousands of them into little cages, so they can't even turn around, can't even sit down, can't even form their social groups.

Most free range eggs come from places like that. Free range eggs that don't... they chickens get abused for what we want them for (eggs) and once they've stopped laying... they kill them anyway. That's nice. How fucking greedy. It's all take, take, take. We've got everything we want from them... well, their lives are worthless now... lets just kill them. How about a little dignity?

(By the way, I have chickens in my backyard too, that roam free. Nothing wrong with using their eggs.)

Dairy cows suffer a lot of shit like you wouldn't imagine. It's not like some nice swedish girl goes out into the paddock, gives the cow a little pat, puts some milk in the bucket, and takes it back to the homestead... It's a bit more like a factory setting.

.

Cows don't NEED to be milked. They need to be milked if they have a calf... by their calf, to FEED THEIR CALF. And you better bet there's trauma if a cows calf is taken away from her. How about a little dignity? OH wait. Nevermind. It's just a cow. Doesn't matter.
