General Discussion / Auto Outline in PSP?
Sun 16/11/2003 17:38:38
Hi there,
can someone help me a bit about Paintshop Pro? I made a character-set, but on the edges its a bit blurry, and when the character walks in front a different color, it looks strange. That's why I would like the outline of the sprites, that means always the last pixel before the sprite ends (if you know what I mean...) black. Theoretically its no problem doing that by hand, but isn't there something like an auto-outline function or a trick which can save me from doing the outlines for all the sprites I have now? :)

Critics' Lounge / My background: The Cafe
Sun 16/11/2003 00:20:33
OK,
I decided to listen what DG and Vel and other people tell me and I am drawing the backgrounds for my next game by myself. It looks crappy of course...  :D
So what do you think? I am happy about the tables in the back, although someone told me the perspective is not 100% correct, but I am not happy about the tables in the front and I would like to add some chairs, but grrrrrr... I cannot draw chairs! Even when I look at photos of chairs. DO you know Ikea? I have been looking at Ikea chairs the whole day, but still I cannot manage to add a few chairs to my Cafe-Background.

So what do you think? Any advice is welcome.
But don't tell me I should use stolen backgrounds in my next game too  :P

Want to go back to those hilarious times and go through those teenager-problems again? Now you can with Lucy Lavender, which is my first project that was succesfully finished. After lots of work and testing, I hope everything is working fine now and no bugs are left :)
For Lucy Lavender character I used the SimPose method Groucho was so friendly to introduce in the adventure-chat-forum. Backgrounds are "borrowed" from one of my favourite adventure games.
I would be very happy if you found some time to give Lucy Lavender a try. Any feedback and advice is welcome, but don't be too strict, it was my first real project.

You can get it here

CHECK THE ANNOUNCEMENTS FORUM FOR THE FULL GAME DOWNLOAD

"Hey Lucy, how was your day?"
"Awful. I finally wrote a love letter to Roger and wanted to give it to him after school..."
"And?"
"It all went wrong. He will think I am an idiot now..."
"Don't be sad Lucy."
"And now I have another problem. My borther, that little skunk, has stolen my diary and won't give it back to me...!"

Remember your hard days when you were a teenager? Those tough days come back when playing Lucy Lavender in this comedy-family-soap-opera.
The development of my first Adventure is making good progress. The whole story and all dialogs and texts and stupid jokes are written down, all backgroundgraphics ("borrowed" from an old Adventure, you should recognise it) and sprites are ready and put into the AGS, the scripting of the game itself is about half way done. I hope I can finish a Beta during next week and release the game within this month :)

Hello,
I would like to enable certain options of dialog within one topic, depending on the value of a global variable. The normal IF-string is not accepted by the Dialog-Editor-Script. Is there a way to do this within one topic or do I have to make several Topics, one for ech value? ???

Hello everyone :)
I hope this is the right folder, because my problem is not really a problem of how to use the editor, but how to use graphics correctly...
I managed to get some graphics of objects and characters ready, they look quite ok, as in the attached graphic :) Because I want to use them in my game with a 320-200 , I will resize them in Paint Shop pro. As a model for the main character, I used the RON free ressources graphics, so my characters have about the same size like Mika now and should be in the right size for a 320-200 game now. But unfortunately, when I import them in the game, they look really really bad. There where quite detailled before, when resizing them, those details of course became less quality. When looking at the small size version in high resolution, it still looks ok, but when using 320-200, the characters of course appear bigger on the screen, and then I can see all the pixels...
I don't want to use a higher resolution for my game. Is there a good method to make them look ok in that resolution too? Some special way of resizing? Or should I import the huge sprites and scale them down in AGS instead?
Any help is appreciated :)
