General Discussion / Tsunami in Asia
Tue 28/12/2004 14:00:52
There is no conection to AGS, but since this is the website I spend most of my time, I cannot stop myself from posting here...

The Flood in Asia, the more I see on the news about it... trying to imagine the big number of people who died (some consider the possibility of 50,000 people... just died in a few seconds) and not to mention the hundred thousands who lost everything they had, which was surely not much before anyway. How can the father give food to his kids when he lost his fishing boat? Or how is the family going to live when there little field is soaked of salt walter and wont be able to produce any plants for many many many years?
And then I go shopping in Berlin, and see so many people again spending so much money on fireworks for the new years eve. And it makes a little bit angry and very very sad...
Please, everyone, dont buy fireworks this year... send a little help to those who suffer now.

There are many other organisations of course, in other countries too, I just picked a few.

I can't script 2 versions because it is a Blender rendered AVI, not AGS.

Why not? You could make the decision whether the user wants to see blood or not set a GlobalInt to a certain value. You put both avi into the gamae, and depending on the value of the GlobalInt the bloody or not-bloody version could be shown.
Don't get me wrong, I would not do that. But if you liked Mats' dea, there is no technical border that could stop you from doing so.

The one on the red wall or the one on the violet wall?

Red Wall. I think you understand what I meant when looking at Darth' paintover.

I was wondering in general and if someone had experiences about that. The tutorial Gamma linked to is very nice :)

Is it tricky to use ISO in AGS due to different walk-behind-areas and thinks like this or can it be adopted easily?

Normally I dont care much about the shadows being 100% correct or not myself, but the acrade mashine casting a shadow on the wall although its on the same-depth level of the wall (and the lamp even being a bit depper inside of the room) really looks wrong and I recommend you should take this shadow away.  :)

How mean you cut her in half ;)

By the way I had a bug: When looking for "something" SHE wanted me to search, AFTER I fulfilled her first wish, I got

(Global Script Line 117)
Error; New room: requested 2 room changes within one script

when clicking around in the bushes and trees on the left side of the sesame-street-guy screen.

I tried this too but... the truth is, I never really managed to get the 3droom in size and perspective or the position of the camera that way, that it could really be used in an adventuregame... maybe someone can offer some basic-room template we would just have to put chairs, doors and beds inside ? ;)

And one of those girls is my sister if that answers your question!    ;)

Ooooh, which one is it? Which one?  :=

I liked the girls sitting on the first photos and how they are moving. Are they your girlfriends?  ;)

 ???

Mmh, talk to the king, talk to all kinds of people, try to find out what you could do to make them happy...

Hehe, the use of photos looks much more interesting than I thought and its kind of freaky, nice for a first game.
Critic: Sometimes I find the words on the bottom a bit hard to read, and I am not really sure about the exits in some roomes.

The Rumpus Room / Re: game nostalgia
Tue 14/12/2004 00:05:15
Mmmh... Apart from Lucas Arts Stuff I could get very nostalgic about...

It Came from the Dessert
This was so scary and it was so big fun to escape from the hospital, riding the wheelchair or hiding in the bed  :=

Kick Off
This soccer-game was extremely unrealistic, but so much fun.

Speed Ball 2
Some sort of SF-Football, got so excited over the league mode in there.

Oil Imperium
Oh my god, digging for oil was so easy, when I realised I should use the joystick instead of the mouse  ;) ...

Wing Commander 2
It had a great story and the main character had MY NAME!! :D I liked it much more than the later 3 or 4...

As I said before, I love the artowrk and I am so happy to hear you are making progress...

Well, could be a good opportunity to have a look in his secret drawers. You never did that with your brother or sister?  ;D

Oh, cropping... can I use that for animation too or would it change the center of my walking sprites and make the character swap backward and forward during walking... not sure if you know what I am talking about  ::)
