Beginners' Technical Questions / Text width
Sat 20/03/2004 11:50:26
Hello :) Though I don't think I am a beginner anymore, the question seems to be so basic, or I am missing something really stupid, so I put it here...
WHen I have my character talk, the displayed speech stretches over the whole screen, but I don't like it that way. I want it to be put only over his head, using several lines if the text is too long. How can I set the maximald width (or length? I mean the maximal x-value-extension) of speech r displayed text?

Don't like it? DON'T PLAY IT!!!!! But don't try to prevent a sequel from being made for those who DO like it, jerks!

In case you are referring to Goldmund and me... maybe you lack a bit of sensibility, buddy ;)

Thank you, but I was referring to the alpha-channel or alpha-blending support feature, so it has nothing much to do with magenta, but with several levels of transparency. I made it work now, although I still cannot select the alpha channel in PSP, but who cares now? ;)
Thank you both for answering :)

When I was 12 or so and dreaming of making adventure games, the package design was the first thing I was thinking about  ;D

Hello PSP-giants and genius' out there :) I have a strange problem about Paint Shop Pro...
I have an image which contains a transparent background (I think its transparent, because the check-board-pattern is showing up) and I use the export-png-optimizer-function, where I set "alpha channel transparency" with "existing image or layer transparency". But the new created image does not have an alpha channel... it does not recognize any alpha channel transparency in AGS and I cannot load a selection from alpha channel in PSP either, so I must be doing something wrong @.@ Does someone know what I am doing wrong?

Hmm.. I'll bet you bought the one you can get online for free. It's probably a lot easier to read though. I hate reading digital books.
Yes I know, but I just bought it for the same reason, I prefer to have a real book I can look at.
Thanks a lot for the links and information :) !!!!

Nice work  ;D
I am also dealing with Blender right now, since the software was free I decided to buy at least the official Blender Book ...
Shabzijinkens (difficult name  ::) ) the texture is nice too did you just draw on the uv-mapped template in a pixel programme oder do you have any trick for good texturing? :)

The backgrounds are basically drawn in paint, then I use a strange mixture of paint shop pro and photo shop elements (because I cannot handle any of those two 100%) creating gradiants using lucasfilm-adventure graphics pallettes and some tweaking by hand, which looks better than just using thos "asscrap" gradients which come with paint shop pro.
For the characters I am using, as mentionied before, Poser. I just love the programme too much, not especially for character making, but for doing all kinds of things, I have been addcited to it for two years now. But I don't want the characters to have that evil poser-look, so I am dealing with lighting in poser and postwork in paint shop pro. I am also looking aroud the net to find appropiate characters and costumes for my actors...
Mmmh maybe I should say I drew them all by hand, but someone would realise anyway :P

Mods, her number is 555-.... I was told in American movies or tv shows all telephone numbers start with 555 because there are no 555 numbers in America, so I am sure you can get Brittany's number by trying some 555 combinations ;)

Will their be any cut-off bodyparts in that game? Just a joke ;) Keep up the good work.
