General Discussion / Re:Perfect Movie?
Sun 13/07/2003 20:19:49
Hmm...

Script: Neil Gaiman, Quentin Tarantino
Director: Terry Gilliam
Actors: Johnny Depp, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Bruce Campbell, and Jackie Chan
Original Score: Danny Elfman and/or Mike Patton
Music By: Lemon Demon, Earth Wind and Fire, Frank Black, TMBG, The White Stripes
Producers: Peter Jackson, Hugh Hefner

Ok, maybe it wouldn't be perfect, but it would be a lot of fun.

How about if you're asleep, you turn IRC off? Just a thought.

In any case, my boredom doesn't usually reach "might as well give #ags a visit" level until around midnight, which is 5 in the morn for UKians.

QuoteWe are there, just because we don't talk doesn't mean we aren't. Its just really hard to get a word in edgewise amongst the reams of endless random talk, so most of us just stop talking in the room.

I haven't been in #ags in a few weeks, but often times about 90% of the people in the room rarely spoke, even when the conversation was slow.

HAHA. That's the exact movie I was thinking of when I thought of the minimalistic makeup. I can't believe someone other than me remembers that movie.

POTC more than cancels Kangaroo Jack.
In fact, I doubt Bruckheimer had much creative input into this. Let's all get on our knees and thank Misters Verbinski, Elliot, Rossio, and Depp o'course. :)

Damn you and your obscure references to popular modern social cliques!! :)

I like the idea of a live action Sam and Max movie. I picture Sam and Max being actors wearing minimalistic animal make-up. It would look silly, but all the other characters would be dead-pan about it. Nobody would take issue with the fact that they're talking to two guys dressed as a dog and a bunny. I think it would be weird and charming, just like the comics. And that's all, the rest of the film would be an offbeat detective story full of Purcell-style visuals and one-liners. If I someday get into fully fledged moviemaking then this is one I want to make.
Grim Fandango, however, would probably need to be a Pixar movie or something. Pixar's contract with Disney will end soon, and they'll most likely start making films without the Mouse's input. And it'll be something. I doubt GF has a chance of transitioning to a film, though.
Sam and Max DOES have a chance of getting made though. Comic books are always interesting targets for film. Given its relative obscurity, it'd probably be an indie movie or something. Which is how I'd prefer it...

Well, with Pirates of the Caribbean being the fantastic film it is, I don't really feel much need for a Monkey Island movie. As I said in that thread, I'd rather have a Sam and Max or Grim Fandango movie.

Yeah, it's fake, but what makes the article a classic is that it has a rather true message-- embracing those campy stereotypes is little more than self-ostracizing. Gay means you attracted to those in you're own gender. It doesn't mean that you have to act like the opposite gender, or like a flamboyant sexual deviant. Those are stereotypes, and if those stereotypes had never existed in the first place, then homosexuals would be almost completely accepted today.

I think that people who harbor such dislike of homosexuals are themselves in a minority.
That said, I think this is completely true.

Ok. What if someone doesn't have webspace though?

Ok, I finished my part. Er, should I email it to undergrounling? His email's not listed...
#773
A Jackie Chan game would rock!! How could it NOT be an action game though...
#774
Y'know, it should be called Up IS Down Day. Makes more sense.

Army of Darkness.
Brazil.
James Bond.
Lord of the Rings, maybe...

I just saw it. It's most excellent. Best movie I've seen in a while.

EDIT, furthermore, wether it does well not, I think this movie's going to be a cult classic in several years. Really really kick ass movie.
#777
Well, here's another thing to discuss. Do you think some gay guys act femmy because they think they're supposed to?
#778
If Pirates of the Caribbean is as good as I've heard, then maybe we don't need a Monkey Island movie. Part of the reason I wanted a MI movie is because there weren't enough good pirate films. PotC just might fill the need.
I'd rather we get a Sam and Max movie or a Grim Fandango movie.

If no boobs are available, breasts, tits, or jugs will do fine.

Still, it's a web page. It's all words. Capalert at least makes an effort not to sound like a raving lunatic.
