Messages - Tuomas

Song:Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights
Comments: One of the best from Kate Bush. The Kick Inside must be her best album, this one is on it. I know it's a hit song but it truly is a masterpiece. Just got to love her voice.
How I discovered it:Well I'm a huge fan of Peter Gabriel. And I read somewhere, that it was he who found this young exceptional girl and made her big. So I trusted him, and bought an album, and now I have all of them, as does my aunt btw.
Fun fact: She wrote the song when she was 19 after the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë who has the same birthday as she.

About the original: I also like it very much. That's cool because I thought that the last song from Tuomas was terrible.
But this one has some very nice guitar work.
I hope you continue to improve!!

:D:D:D 8) You know I actually couldn't agree more now that I've listened to it quite a few times. But I like the song, it's just me playing and singing and recording that makes it so bad :)

Anyway, as I said to Nik, I agree that the violin sounds great as does the singing, after his mixing. he basically named it already. What I'd like too, that the guitar was a bit louder. Because basically I compose songs to go along with only one guitar, and sometimes singing, then if I can't hear my guitar, I can't hear my song and it turns to something else :/ Nevertheless, I've got more songs and a better soundcard+mic coming very soon. Just need to arse myself to record them :D

A good idea. However the textures are too much. Especially on the rocks. They look like they're made of cardboard. If one really wants to use textures, I'd recommend making their own, better ones.

There's no longer a winner or anything, and I will try to comment on all of them, and at the end show the original text version.

Song: The Samuel Jackson Five - If You Show Off The Milk, Who's Gonna Buy The Cow? (from their homesite www.sj5.no
Comments: as the album title of this says, Easily Misunderstood. The music is defined Experimental/Post-Rock. This is not their best track, but it's the one available at the website, and is pretty good anyway.
How I discovered it: I was looking for info on Spock's Beard, when I spotted this in an aphapetical list, and thought it was funny so decided to take a look.
Fun fact: "Their name is most likely a joke based on the combination of Samuel Jackson and Jackson 5" (no shit)

Nice one Chrille. There's nothing Roxy Music would do bad, again I find Brian Eno mentioned, (3rd time I think).

Hey, anyone wanna tell me some cricket terminology? I'm going to some cricket team party next weeks friday (my godfather play in their team and has birthday). Just some nitpicking to talk about, like, what's with the pipesystem if there's no sink on them, or why have a paddle if you don't have a canoe :)

Song: Lionel Richie - Hello http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDZcqBgCS74
Comments: One of the best ballads I've heard. And a cute video too. Everyone knows this.
How I discovered it: I think it was BOYD and ProgZmaX together, or just one of them that made a "funny" verbal joke that no-one got at #AGS
Fun fact: "Hello" was covered by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes on their album Take a Break. It has also been covered by Paul Anka on his album Rock Swings.

Enjoy

I should think MI is still a bit scary for the common man to try and experience with. People tend to expect quite a lot from a MI game, even if it was a fangame. Dunno, but it might be that. And then the concept is a bit harder to develop, It think MM and ZMC have easier plotlines to follow within the limits. A new monkey island game could be anything, and it might even have to have new bgs and new ideas. I don't really know, but you did ask us to speculate.

So this one's new. Making it was an experience. this friend of mine was complaining on msn that she was bored. So i told her to write a poem and then I'd compose something over it. So she did. The poem turned out to be really good, here it is:

Ruumiisi kylmä ja eloton.
Lumihiutaleet ripsiisi sulaneet.
Elämä julma kai on,
rakkauden sanat eivät viimeisiksi jääneet.

Vei talvi kylmä sinut mennessään,
ja sammui tuli silmiesi.
Vain ruusu kaunis kylmissään,
viimeisen reittisi yksin tiesi.

Viho viimeinen hymysi,
se kauan kirkkaana mielessäni leimusi.
Kosketuksesi, ihollani niin kevyt,
oli silloin maailmani vielä täysin ehyt.

Jos vain edes kerran tieni luoksesi johtaisi,
missä kylmä, kaunis tähtesi hohtaisi.
Syliisi vaipua tahtoisin.
Eikö rakkauteni riittänyt, kysyisin.

Yeah, pure Finnish, but it'll help you with the lyrics. See, I recorded this with my nylon acoustic guitar this time. What I did was taking the headset with the microphone, Placed the mic inside the hole on the guitar just under the strings, and then I taped it so that it wouldn't bounce or go off. Then I plugged in the mic, and started playing. Once through, and then a solo. well, the mic had a problem with the small solo, it broke some of the sounds. So with 2 tracks, one recording each, here it is.

I made my brother sing for it because obviously I can't as heard in my earlier thread http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=30068.0, and he went for a kind of (if you know) Pekka Streng/Petri Petterson, as in the Finnish 60's-70's accent clear singing, which I very much like, so kindly Peder hosted the song for me, and here you go, tell me what you think. I know it's a bit slow, I nowadays play it quicer, so it annoys me, but it doesn't annoy you :D I hope...

Music/composition/guitar: Tuomas Renvall
Lyrics: Elina Kolehmainen
Singing: Lauri Renvall

I feel ashamed for not having any humour in this, but at least I took the time in starting to spoil the great art that it was :)

Got bored though on the way.

Two men were walking on the street, the one in the middle had a hat on.

What do Michael Jackson and Santa have in common? Both empty their sacks on the nursery floor.

The little mosquito was taking his first flight. After he came back his mom asked him: "how was your first flight then?" The little mosquito answered with enthusiasm: "It was great, everyone clapped their hands :)"

What's the difference between a blonde and a screwdriver? Blondes can't drive!

What do bolts and blondes have in common? The harder you screw them, the easier they stick around.

Where does a blonde keep her most precious things? In full view!
