General Discussion / Re: HAPPY EASTER
Sun 16/04/2006 18:03:53
Yes you was and me 2! I think this means war, let's start it on a holy day!... just kidding. I'm a bit sad that I won't be having any chocolate eggs or real eggs for that matter. And I won't be getting any mämmi either. well, maybe some leftovers from the shop after easter :( It's because I was supposed to go home, but I can't because they're all ill. I don't even get to paint eggs, which was teh funniest thing.

I'll have to go with Biothlebop as well, sorry guys, but he sticked to the topic or at least how I saw it, the best. And he finished his story :) Congrats on getting my vote.

I always logically thought that the blue cup was big because it says so in the url of this site. Think of it, it does make sense. Why would it be small of green if it says differently in the address, that would just confuse people more.

General Discussion / Re: Dosbox help please
Sun 16/04/2006 12:40:34
I'd try opening just dosbox in a window, not fullscreen. Then click ctrl+F12 repeatedly, say 22 times. Then open the path to the game and once it's running press alt-enter to make it fullscreen. Just because at least in my case the values returned to default as you close it. And it won't do anything if you have too many programs running at the same time.
I tried this game on these setups, and it wouldn't work because I had say, DC++, opera, IE, Firefox, BJ5, mIRC, Dreamweaver 8, Photoshop and winamp running at the same time, the usual, you know... Basically Dosbox needs a lot of CPU, and I should believe your game will work if you do as I did, closed most of the programs etc and got it working.

Well I've played point & click in English, Finnish, German and Russian, I don't think Japanese would make that much harder. Besides now that I'm learning Japanese, this'd give me great means to develop! :) Might even give it a go one day here.

Well I like to listen to Hot Chocolate and drink hot chocolate while I'm at it. And you know what they say about Smashing Pumpkins...

http://www.magintz.com/upload/JackDrake.doc

Note that the main character is not Jack, it's Richard Drake. This is a sad story. I was too eager and started too long a story, which I never finished (yet). I like it though, I might finish it some day.
Ã,  Ã,  Yet I thought I'd enter this with it, just to show some respect for a great theme, and for my work not to be in vain. If you wish to know how it's supposed to end, ask me. I won't give spoilers here.
Ã,  Ã,  You can see that the first chapter is much longer by ways of telling than the others, I was away a lot and it turned out a busy task. So I'm leaving this today, I will be away until monday, so delaying this wouldn't help at all.
Ã,  Ã,  Special thanks to Babar & Obi for being my everyday muses when I was in a dead end, and to Magintz who let me upload it to his server. :D

And I am double posting on purpose so that this thread would come back on top of the list and we'd get people to read this stuff, my stuff at least.

I reckon that the easter bunny put the cds in my chocolate egg that I couldn't afford to buy and then missed it and ended up buying the cds without knowing that there was the egg though the egg was there and that's why it was so cheap. Does it make sense? yes it makes sense, to me it does, doesn't it make sense to you too? It makes sense.

You know what, I was looking for a job today, didn't find any, and the recruitment offices were closed because it's easter, but I found something wonderful:

Dixieland Jazz; This Was the Jazz Age - 10 Cd set, featuring Louis Armstrong, Johnny Dodds, Kid Ory, Sidney Bechet, Clarence Williams, andone you can think of... or at least I can. Anyway, all this was just 9,95 euros = $12 = £6,89!!!! :o :o

So I basically got 10 Cds of best jazz one could ask only 1e each!

Didn't get a job though, so now I'm broke for the month, but so what, I can spend it listening to awesome music! Be happy with me!

I like the idea. Reminds me of the part in NFSU2 that I hated so much, dag racing that is. You bloody get all 5 or 6 shifts excellent and still the only way to win is if the other car crashes.

Anyway, I like the idea, as i have told you. I mihgt consider getting a bit sharper pics of the cars, but this sounds great. I second ManicMatt

Aushor, I also have Marbles, and I must say having heard the early ones with Fish still singing, I wasn't really that impressed. From the times of Kayleigh etc Marillion was one of the best prog bands there was. If you liked Marbles, I suggest you to immediately go and buy them or at least give them a listen. My personal favorite is Misplaced Childhood, which also has Kayleigh in it....

Or you could listen to an awesome compilation here http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=233

I'm just selling out one of my favorite bands here ;D

Thank god there's an end date. I just realized I won't be home for a while and my text is there and I'm going to have real trouble with getting it done. This means shortening it a lot! But if I won't make it, I will leave a half done entry, just because I wouldn't like my work to go waste.

Thanks for this goes to Haddas, as he linked me to a video a while ago. The band is called Hinoi Team, it's a Japanese eurobeat band...(don't ask)... and at the very moment me and my friends have formed an unofficial Finnish fan club to this band and I'm trying to create a website for our fanclub aside of the blog in my signature. Some of the peope here can tell you how annoying this is, but it's grerat fun, And these videos I found in the internet, I'veseen them all like 20 times in 6 days!

What's that? A bug teasing a premature handless boyscout?Ã,  I didn't quite get it... :-*

Hi, I don't know if this has been brought up, but know some of you use the free Sygate personal firewall as I did and my brother. I went to my broter's last weekend to fix his net connection.

Anyway, what I was supposed to say is that I noticed this thing in the internet: http://www.sygate.com/products/sygate-personal-firewall-pro.htm
QuoteImportant Notice: Effective November 30th, 2005 all Sygate consumer firewall products will be discontinued. For technical assistance with these products, please email SMBSupport@Symantec.com. In addition, the consumer firewall support forum will be available for 60 days per our standard support policy. Note: this end of life only applies to the consumer firewall products and does not affect Sygate's Enterprise firewall and endpoint compliance products, which are still be updated and supported. Thank you and we look forward to assisting you with the wonderful line of Symantec products. Please click here for Symantec Support.

I am not sure if this is the reason, but as I was fixing my brother's computer and connection it appeared, that Sygate was infact blocking all the leaveing files and giving access to all that was coming from the internet. After speaking with the web instructor or what was her name, we came to the solution that the connection would work if we'd shut down the firewall.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Now I tried to find the Sygate icon on the desktop, only finding out that it had disappeared. So I went to C:\program files\Sygate and tried to run the main program from there. It wouldn't do anything andÃ,  couldn't find an uninstall file anywhere. I just uninstalled it from the windows program uninstall tool and right after that Ewido anti-malware updated itself.

On my computer just now I'm making a homepage, and downloaded FileZilla to upload my homepage to the server. For some reason it wouldn't connect even though I had all the usernames and paswords correct. Now at #AGS we came to the solution that my firewall might be blocking it. I tried to check out and realized the Sygate icon had disappeared from my desktop as well, and the main program wouldn't run.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, After I removed it my ewido anti-malware updated itself, and FileZilla was able to connect the server. MY guess is, that Sygate was blocking the new programs because I've had it for a while, and it still let msn and my browsers through whereas Ewido and FileZilla are new programs on my computer.

Why I think that Symantec buying the rights to it makes a difference is, that they do not do it anymore, only make update files for it, and since I was using the free version which had no udate option visible to me, the only chance to keep it up to date was t oremove it and download a new version. Therefore my Sygate was an old version, but it shouldn't have broken up like that.

Consider this as a warning or so if you use Sygate personal firewall, I'd suggest you go and try to run the main program... Now I'm using ZoneAlarm, just to keep it cheap.

You know there are two things that come to my mind first. That Hitler by his expression is not scary, just some pointy nosed guy with moustache. And that 'only dead are free from fear'... and a picture of nazi leaders. Makes you think they were afraid of something as they are all dead now. And I suppose none of us is afraid of Hitler. But basically the second one that came to my mind is the one I'm pointing out.
Supposedly you know this, I just thought I might as well write it down.

Critics' Lounge / Re: A Hunter-C&C

I'm really sad now. I spent quite a while making a paintover, and then saved it twice... TWICE and then closed artgem and it had not created any files, pictures or anything, I all the time was spent in vain.

But, I'll tell you what I would have suggested. First of all, both arms are a bit short. I'd lenghten them like two or three pixels. Then what I did was shorten the legs by lowering the crouch, not extending the feet.
Then about the jacket. Personally I'd think a brown-ish colour would fit better, with big pockets. at least that's how I've imagined hunters. And you need to make the jacket a bit longer too. Then the left(from the charatcer's eyes) sleeve, I wouldn't bring the sleeveline, the grey line so far to the neck, but stop it at the armpit or what's it that gets sweaty.
Damnit, I even fixed the boots a bit, but  :P

Oh, and your hunter is very good as it is, don't take me to harsh, I'm just a bit frustrated at the moment.
