NP: Anna Lee (5:51)... Let's take over this thread. I talked to our drummer and another friend of mine who's drummer, and they both say Portnoy doesn't play for the band but for himself. And to take this even further, in the last 3 albums, the worst songs have been composed by Portnoy... But I guess it's just what you look from a band. The best drummer is Neil Peart, absolutely, the Bill Bruford and then Phil Collins.

Here in Germany, nobody knows them except progressive metal fans like me. ;) They are NEVER played on any kind of radio station and I bet that not even 1% of people here know their name.

At least they've played Pull Me Under and that new U2 like song, I walk Beside You here... So, I reckon you all progmetal-heads there listen to Vanden Plas or something like that?

Oh, and I, being the happy owner of many records, still find it odd that, most people count King Crimson as a Prog metal band. Sure they have some heavy material on their new albums.

Tuomas, I see nothing 'random' in the way Portnoy plays, and his style can handle any tempo. I basically cannot follow your line of thinking at all since you even say OSI are like Theater.
What I mean is, that Mike Portnoy makes it as Dream Theater as possible, granted that it's more like Chroma Key, but the drumming. I still say he doesn't play for the band. One of those who are great teachers and players, but could easily be replaced in a band. In a band that is not DT which is what Portnoy plays.

Ok, I don't really mean he sucks that bad, just I don't like his style. He just builds his playing on random hits in fast tempo, and makes it sound cool, yes, but in those slow songs they have, and when he needs to do plain rythm, he's not very good. And I don't think he'd fit many other bands, at least other styles. I know he played in OSI and Transatlantic, but those are so like DT.

I have been a fanboy of a band called Dream Theater for the past 12 years, inspired me to become the best musician I could be.

DT \o/... although they're new albums suck. BringÃ,  Derek Sherinian back to keyboards and they'll be back to Scenes from a memory type great progressive metal. Oh, and Portnoy sucks, I'm surprised you'd like him, as a drummmer.

:o I'm not sure if I should say something for myself here or just leave it be... well I'll leave it be since this isn't my thread.

You're pretty much all of spunk considering the notes that you have made, aren't you :)
Well, considering the amount of spunk I have ever swallowed... It's mostly full of protein, I suppose. So it's like eating raw eggs, only smaller amounts. I don't really recommend trying to live with your own spunk, since youd need a lot of it to keep hunger away... So basically what would happen is what ever happens when you don't eat enough.

Woodz: I really don't see why we should encourage innovation and the youth. All the newbies must be considered as a threat and this is why we must make them far us from the first minute we see them! I'M KIDDING OF COURSE <- because I know some people would probably not understand.

hmm, Why is this thread still going on? Oh, did someone help him? I volunteer to try and help under specific circumstances.

Oh, and did I mention, that if you do like I did, and eat 1,5kg of liquorice in 3 days, you urea will get a rather funny colour init. And by telling things like this, you make sure you'll never get friends.

Nice one. I'd say though, that while messing with shadows, look closely where everything goes as in, the shirt has mainly 2 colours, light and dark red, but they don't seem to be in any shape specific, so I reckon they are there to give the shirt some depth. Same goes to the hair and the jeans. Think for a while, where does the light actually come from and which parts does it hit making those parts lighter than the others.
Then I'd draw the linings with a bit lighter colour too, would fit my eye better, I suppose, not a universal rule though. Then he looks kind of like he was a bout to fall. Try and make him stand up a bit. I could do a paintover, but my time is very short, and  Iknow someone will always make it better, so just wait for that or do your own by this.

Funny you should mention this. I've never heard people singing as well as I heard on friday at a cruise. Though it was clear that there was some hardware mixing with the voice, we sat so close we could hear the originar voice, and the one coming from the speakers, and it was completely different. Uh oh, what's the topic again?

EDIT: though I admit it'd be hell to have to listen to music like this from the radio http://www.keskiespoo.net/~salonn/mp3/Karate-Pekka/ so maybe manipulation isn't such a bad idea.

I trust my fellow spywareblaster to keep them away, because he wroks well and looks cute. Then if something comes through, I attack them with spybot and AdAware...and when there are viruses that won't go away, like Windows 95 or an unregistered Norton antivir, I don't know what to do... never had any of those.

The woman next to you wants a drink before she can help you. However, you are underaged... You spot a hobo in the corner... you give him ten pieces of eight and he goes and buys 2 drinks, one for him and one for you. You give the drink to the woman, but she claims she's not drunk enough yet. You don't have any more money, so you go to your moped, get some glue from the glovebox and pull of some buttons from your leather jacket.
Ã,  Ã,  Then using the glue on the buttons you get them all sticky. You take your knife that you have with you for detaching the game box, and use it to scratch some copper from the doorhandle and then the sink in the bathroom. You use thesticky buttons with the copperdust and voila, you have things that looks like crappy pieces of eight. Then you repeat the procedure with the hobo.
Ã,  Ã,  The woman is now drunk and she agrees to help you. there's some of that drink left in the glass, and you decide to take it with you just to save some money, and in these situations everything comes always handy. So the woman approaches the barkeeper and starts to seduce him, and you take your chance on the kitchen. You [puzzle]Insert something cunning and original here[/puzzle].
Ã,  Ã,  Then when the barkeeper is awawy you start detaching the box with your knife. It seems to be glued stuck, and knifing it would only make the back cover tear and that'd make it less worthy. You need some alcohol, but the keep is away... Suddenly you realize that you have the drink the woman left in your pocket in a glass, so you use it on the box, but you don't wish to wet the box completely. You use the knife with the alcohol and *insert a word here* it under with the knife. Trés bien, the box is loose and you get out of the bar.
Ã,  Ã, Open box -> "the box seems to be empty"

Those are the right lyrics. Hewever I remember the song being sung by lots of much younger children.

Yes please. Then give it to me!

Flukey o/

I know my brother somehow dug up my forum ID and password, so he's been here a few times. But I reckon he won't mind if I say, that once he got his pc, he could never be arsed to get a Viruschecker or a firewall because it required too much effort. Well he did have some Norton not registered version, which then expired and could not be removed.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Anyway, he had to format the hard disk to get it working again. As that didn't help he got a new one, somehow the old one had got broken completely. Luckily there was this insurance still available, so he didn't have to pay for the new one.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, After installing Windows XP again he first installed anti-vir and then sygate firewall, yet I have to update them every time I go home just because he doesn't bother doing it. And after installing the XP again his computer hasn't been working well. First of all, he can't download Windows updates and he still has SP1. The download program says his Windows is Finnish and he can only download it English, and for some reason they're not compatible.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Secondly startup takes like 4 minutes everytime, and it seems to get stuck every now and then.

I'd say, our Amiga never got broken though he used to hammer it with pretty much every muscle he got. I remember him hitting it with an ice hockey stick once. Just shows, that kids and computers don't match. Oh and did I mention he's 16... Ok, admitted, I used to give that Amiga a good smack on the side every now and then...

My brother's odd with these things. He has a habit of listening one band for 2 weeks, and then start composing inspired by it. Mostly turns out pretty damn good. I myself had this thing say, a month ago, when I listenend the whole collection of Renaissance albums that I have through many times and started composing music quite different to theirs, but still inspired by their music.

The forgotten element, eh? It must be silicone. There, problem solved, no need to play the game. Though I will just to see the other characters ;)
