So, me and my so called band-mixup have come to the point, that we finally found a place to hide and practice from Tampere - Finland, the city that is known for musician discrimination. And, we fooled them by saying we have a band called The Essential Love Group and that we play art rock. Which is true in a way. The fact is, that our Love Group consists of 3 bands, one called Death Motör Oil, which was my band originally, but they started to play heavy. THen there are my bands Jazz Cauldron and Proge Harem, that play some jazz-prog-fusion-RIO stuff. But the chances to get a cellar from the city are bigger with a decent name other than Death Motör Oil or such.

Now we can finally drag our amps from the corners of our flats and really play with them. And the rent isn't bad either, about 40e per month. But what I'm here for is to inquire if any of you would know anything about PA sets, like microphones and such, just to give me a hint of what is a)worth buying, b)affordable, and c)something that I will think of later. And mixers too. I'll be watching for used ones in the Thomann web sale and lots of places myself too.

Were but a starting group, so we have no real money of our own :D But if it should happen so, whe might get some tracks to be spread over the web for you to listen to as well. Thanks.

Well I would never gladly marry someone with a surname like Virtanen which is very popular in Finland. Unless I loved her of course. I have a great, rare surname, actually it's protected by law so that you can't change your to it unless in marriage. So I wouldn't want epople like Järvinen in my family...but, to speak the truth, it really doesn't matter, the surname I mean. Yet I'd wish the girl would like my name and change to it if she wanted to, but I'd never be opposed to her keeping her own name. I certainly wouldn't change mine...

the rule is simple. Stand on the position your character stands and look where the shadows appear.

I get what you mean. I would suggest, that you drew the left leg a bit higher, with less angle on the knee. Then, if the left leg would be in the back and therefore wouldn't get any light, si it'd be much darker... WEll, to make it easier, I did a little paintover. I didn't mess with the colours, but I do think it needs to be much darkes on the hem on the left side as well as on the back at waistlevel.

With this I tried to show, that the reason I misinterpreted the position was because of the light coming to the left leg. now that it's off, it looks more like it's behind, or to me it does at least... I appologise for the horrible drawing but I usually work with more colours, but I only did this to give you the idea :D

I bet there are people with more usable ideas than me, but I can give you a hint, didn't study for nothing eh ;)

First when I begun to read your descripton of your problems and loked st the mage in white, I was thinking like; what's this guy talking about. The picture's very good. Although: the right side of the (pardon my lack of vocabularity when talking about clothing) jacket, sleeve or something, don't even know it in my native language... anyway, it's on top, as in a female way. Yes, women have buttons on the left side and men on the right side, that's how you know which is which... or so I've been told.
Ã,  Ã, I reckon you want to have some kind of 'wrinkles' on them as if to show they are alive? Might concider the facts that the waist is tighter due to the belt or what ever you're using. So a robe like that would get a little wrinkled from armpits to the waist and the down from there...
Ã,  Ã, Then think of if you should draw a part of the hem a bit longer on occasions to make it look more vivid. It wouldn't go that way naturally, look like it sure, but the part that looks longer is the end of a wrinkle... so if it's on the inside it ought ot be darker.

On the blue man, I see more things to be fixed. First of all his other leg is longer and the other sleeve is thinner. But that's not what you asked ;D
Ã,  Ã, I see you have darkened the torso from above his left arm, but not under it, which, concidering the cast ball was the light source would be even darker. Then the feet. It's hard to describe because it doesn't seem anathomically correct, BUT; should you bend or twist or whatever you do to the hem, it wouldn't be so that the bent knees were more out than the hem itself. I mean, the right leg seems to block the light right next to it, but for some reason not from the front of the hem at all. Now that is not possible unless it's glued onto his leg (which I doubt).

I try to help the best I can. Yet they are very nice pictures, especially the white clothed one.

Didn't buy many, but for one at least The Flower Kings made an awesome album, Adam & Eve.
Then I might suggest Octavarium by Dream Theater, but it wasn't very good :P

Oh, and of course Mars Volta and Mew as I noticed while reading the above... silly me.
Bet there was more, but these come to my mind now...

I'd say the recorder orÃ,  blues-mouthorgan on A-major is the easiest. Recorder can be made bloody hard though, but if you listen to blues even just a bit, and get a band to back you up at A, you can't play the mouthorgan wrong.

The hardest I find Sitar. They say that you only learn to play it well once you have practiced for several lives. Like if you play moderately, it means you have started playing it in the life before your reincarnation:

Tough one.

And when it comes to guitar, I had thi show in our school, and oen of the guys played guitar just before me. And he was fast like he had been up to it all his life, bet he has played longer than I have, but anyhow, when he dropped the tempo to half of what he was doing, he couldn't keep up at all. I have never thought that being fast means you can play the guitar, or any instrument. I could take any instrument and run through scales for a year and be very fast, but no-one would admire my skills. One can type al lot of shit with ten fing ers workin bga lk the tinme , being fast, but does it mean hi's any good?

the best part must be when you get stuck in those stupid puzzles that aren't even supposed to be solved by an average man. That, and the fact that you play 3 hours a row without saving, and then you click on a spot you want to approach and the character cunningly chooses to take a shortcut through the river or something...

actually there's some girls missing from the photo, there are 17 of them. And I am in the back row because oddly enough I (172cm) am one of te tallest in our class.

thought I'd share a picture of me harrassing a Father's day -card too:

And because everyone has an idiotic close up of their faces:

Heh, finally got my last ever school photos, and thought I'd do what Pete did and show these to you, there's my class as it is, 2 boys only:

and yet, my own picture. No, it was not taken 40 years ago, but a month ago, so no stupid comments about my COOL hair!

Grod10: The girl... does she never dress up, as in, spends the whole day in her dressing gown? Seems so in the pictures you drew. And about the art.. it's a bit cubistic, isn't it... Without corners of course.

As we see, playing about with andventure games encourages people to do crime. that's why I like it so much, I used to open the lock in my diary with a paperclip because I lost the key... though I never wrote anything on it, it was just fun to pick the lock :P

Once I came home and no-one was there. I had no key, because we usually kept the doors unlocked when someone's inside, and usually there is someone inside. but, not to worry my friends, there was a key to the cellar door in the carage. (I won't tell if it's there anymore just for security reasons). I cunningly fetched the *key* and placed it into the hole.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Then I started thinking what I should do with it. After a while I ended up turning it, as I usually do with keys... Nothing. I tried again... Nothing, it wouldn't turn. Then I tried to push the door a bit to let the lock open freely... Nothing. I rammed the stupid door with my feet and twisted the key, nothing.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, So... then I got this brilliant idea: I leaned backwards and gave the key in the hole a good strong kick, bending it shapeless. The key stayed in the lock, I couldn't get it out anymore. That was a laugh. So, I sat down on the stairs in front of the house and waited for an hour for my mom to come. Then I had to explain why the key to the front door was jammed into the cellar door :P

Well, after that I introduced myself to the world of AGS and there are a lot of heroic stories that I cannot remember at the moment, but if I should soon, I'd tell you... never had such a trouble after AGS ;D

EDIT: to Vict0r, I always thoght breaking in to a house is a crime, I may be mistaken. Yes, sometimes you are justified to break in your own, but the fact that you most often are able to do so provokes you to try other houses too. Mwahhahaa, and while you're there, why not take some stuff with you.. like an Xbox...

WOWzorz Nihilyst! There's something really ravaging going on in that picture of your's. It's like dusty sugar on a black glass  :o :o Kind of intriguing and cool, in a way :D

But Azaron, I like Nihilyst's cruisers. They have spirit. Otherwise your newer edit is really nice, it has the infinite atmosphere in it. Good job.

I am not very happy with it, but I will enter it anyway. It is Lyra and Iorek Byrnison from 'His Dark Materials'. They travelled a whole lot! All over the place like crazy sort of travelling!

Funny how I immediately thought of Lyra and the armoured bear when I saw this picture :D Before reading this text under it... Nice job Pesty, but somehow I always imagined the bear to be much bigger, compared to the girl at least.

well, he should ask the guy for a smoke, and then jump down the bridge... Smoking's a sin right? so he'd go straight to hell... Or he could make the guard kill him. Every murdered person also goes to hell, or so I have read... Yet he could also suggest the guard something about going to hell and such... :P

evil queen wants to APPEAR just to her subjects so she suggests test.
I don't get it... does this mean something? I mean, in English? Although I have heard something very much like to this one, don't remember anything of it though.

About the competition, I think it's worth a shot, a fairly suitable idea indeed.

I think the only reason people see it as Russian is the hat, and because they look at him from top to bottom. I'd second i k a r i here, because an explosion or such violent, actionful happenings would turn out a bit too cliché. but I think i needs something grotesque.

25... I wasn't even born back then. Yet I have my own reasons of feeling sorry for the event and angry for the shooter, who just wanted publicity. A great band, a great band, The Beatles I must admit, and John Lennon, what a great artist. Not only was he then, but his songs will never die. Well, I guess he just got too good and popular for his own good. 25 years ago we had a moment that silenced the whole world, I shall have mine now. And as a fan in general, I shall put my word for George Harrison too who assed away a few years ago. Nevertheless, there ought not to be too much grief, no-one would want that. Hey, all you need is love, and that we shall have, right ;)

Heh. basically, you asked what the essay was about, the teacher told us to write anything we like, to the subject of course, which I planted Dear Friends for. So, eh, this was not meant to be an essay worth any points, just basically some train of thought to make the teacher confused, and I guess I confused you too.

I read the translation through again, and it seemed as much confusing as the original, or, not more confusing... Well, I liked mixing up the poor teacher, she tried to comment and everything... I got 50 from this, 53 from a literature study, and lousy grades from the course as whole, but it was fun seeing her trying to add critique and comments into these :D

If the subject was "Drugs and Heroine: results" then you did a very good job. If it was though :"The political awarness of China of the fall of the Eastern block", then... Well...
Yes well you could find something referring to the fall of the Eastern block there too... ;)
