Completely unrelated:

Tuomas, is that the weird King Crimson pic you have as your avatar? :)

It was and yes, it is. probably should remove it as everybody keeps asking about it. But back to the topic if I may....--------->

So I got into a dead end again... Anybody who can inspire me in decorating the village. I can't seem to decide what the houses should all look like. I don't wish them all look alike. I'm short in ideas from grey tiles to wooden boards, but what else can it be like?

The village is seen in the 1st pic.

thanks

Oh you mean the Cream song! a great song too. (otherwise wouldn't be there). Both are... but then, what was the subject again?
#2644
Yeah :D All girl look beautiful from afar, but get closer you see the hidious scar on her cheek and the thin nose and the red eyes and the misshapened forehead... nah just kidding, they all look good in a way... I'm quite happy with her walking though. My second sprite-animation ever so she's a bit stiff but nevertheless :)

Yes, the best record in the world, though not the best band.

He said it, FUN. And yes too, some are given by way of routine. But let's not focus on that but rather to what is most commonly commented in these forums, as that was the original meaning. I appologise for using the wrong word cliché! :D well then, we have 6, is it... Fibble, I knew that already, but this conversation was good to have now so everyone would understand, right? So that is why I point out the Not a hostile thread part now. ok, no harm done, eh? ;)
#2646
I just came up with a couple of clichés that keep popping up in every thread and had an idea.

For example there is the Critics Lounge where people tend to advice you to 1)adjust shading, 2)adjust perspective and 3)do more realistic :)

In Beginners Questions people then would 4)advice you to check the manual, which is the only right way. But hey! This is not supposed to be a hostile thread, rather one where people gater most used phrases :D

If you find (or use) any, please put them here so we can all laugh about it whilst we realize all of our chatter is but clichés and used sayings. Heh, I'm trying to be funny here too...

btw, that's 4 already... Didn't find likes of this anywhere...

I can't do it, but I thought there was sunset? I've never seen a sunset with such bright yellow as you have drawn. Suppose you try adding more red, orange, sometimes even purple when it's cloudy.

LilBlueSmurf's try was closest to what I think, a bit too dark perhaps as if it were night already, but the first ones seem more like there was a rising sun there. but the matter is, the sunset means dimmed light, sharp shades of red and orange. Less yellow. This is but my opinion, but hey, think of it. I would have done it myself but as I said I can't do that in Paint. Won't suit my style, as you see in the other thread here :)

wow, I was expecting some AGS forums clichés like It's not realistic or try out more shading or the perspective or such ;)

Perspective is clichéd?

HAH! Not quite, I meant the comments and criticism you get here :D :D No, perspective is important in some cases, but the frequent comments on it have more or less become clichés. To me at least

i hope my charactars will come out as nice as that sexy princes you madeÃ,  :P

Thanks Corey. Did you try her on with AGS? I don't know how to place an animation here so...

The tiles are actually equally sized, though their seams are darker. Yes, it's a trick... shading and all, one thing I tried out while working on my own style. But then, I kind of like it... With the darkness spreading, so the light can only touch some smaller parts of the tiles...

The first room (the starting room) is full of cardboard boxes. The walkable are consists of only one box to where you start at and down from there on... There would the be a bum sleeping on then larger box on the right... this way, I'll show:

The walkable and walkbehind areas are the thin black lines with messy black...

The bum I was thinking would act as a continous theme in the game that keeps appearing and then helping or giving philosophical guidance or making it hard for you...

And then, as it is weekend and there is no party anywhere, I did something to the larger pic, room.2 too. As in enlarging the road... to add depth and perspective and then cleaning the sky behind the branches... Funnies thing, still amazed by my enthusiasm and what I did back then, the sky must have all possible colours of blue in it, like the darker green hillside and the castle too in grey :D talking about perfectionism. Perhaps the wall should be somewhat the same as in the village pic, but it takes so much time to do such structure...

ilsilente or Henryhouse...? Sorry ilsilente, your game was excellent but... I couldn't get the dog to do anything without jamming the game.
So my vote goes to Henryhouse. Nice game! frustrating, real pain in the ass, and s...l...o...w... too, just the way I like it. Clever enough, I think you should win. And Congrats for the baby too  :)

the... oh you mean the path to the castle! Yes, I agree, it's one of those unfinished... did my pics just disappear? well... I uploaded them again on a different site so they ought to hold from now on.

I'll work on them, but of course can't do it all at once, I do have my school at the side, but an hour every now and then... those BGs did take hours to make

And I made the princess over... but as I tried it, it was "a bit" too big... then I checked, and it was 100 pixels tall, so I'll start all over again... or stay with the old on...

Useful information, thank you ghost. I thought, maybe her father is kidnapped and you have to save the world... and from the half on the maiden will follow you as you both have an important task to do. He, don't know about it then...

Glad you like it... still the characters I drew were too small to include details, so I'm on it next

I think she turned out too small so I was making her bigger before I started having doubts. But she's not originally from this game but then afterwards included... don' thave a role for her yet :)

Well that does it! I'm on it again... just that, I screwed up my ags. And somehow I forgot all about the program... And can't get the original GUI working either. "Don't touch it fool!!!" yeah I know :P Well nevermind, So I got excited, here's some more for you to deal with... though I never had not the will, the thrill nor the skill to make it with the wall... so:

and another...

(notice that the village shown earlier is there in the back)

hmmm, there are some oddities... the colour of the sky behind the tree branches etc. But hey, it's still... or from now on in progress...

Ha :D It's always been Bubble Bobble and it always will be
#2657
THE BLOB!!! and I wouldn't want to carry it in my pocket :P
#2658
This is easy, and you'll never guess why it is as it is... that's right, I didn't feel productive as I signed in. Thus I went off with my name... actually the second name, but as it's my calling name.. Tuomas... from Finland... Yipee. Well, there you have it!
#2659
I was wondering if I should throw away this attempt, or do you think it would in any way be potential and then worth finishing. Yes, it is done with Paint, pixel by pixel... there are things I like, and ones I don't.

The thing is, I'd need some ideas to fill the "village" with. If not then it'll face the destiny of a rotten banana...ehm... ok, whatever, you get the point.

Ok the story went as this... the character got fired from the factory he was working at, and went wondering in the kingdom... in this "village" he would live, though the first mission was to find his home, as he had forgotten where it was... (yeah, it's called being the only one to laugh at your own jokes :D)

Sooooo.. I'd appreciate some critics and all... Thanks...

Is it just me or does that farm look a bit as if it were on a beach. Because of the sand. Ok, it's may not be sand, rather some kind of hay, wheat, what's it called... You could probably add some depth on it, or if it was windy and the field would animate, it'd be very nice.

Just ideas, can't say I was to know any better, but think of it...

BTW. I love the subject, maybe because I'm living a zombie period at the time. I've watched several zombie movies in a few weeks. Started with the Night of the Living Death:D
