We don't even need internet porn. A pencil's enough.

Because you can draw your own entertainment, or are you just sexually aroused by pencils?

Are you sure the name of the function shown in the event section is indeed hTownhall_MouseMove?

Yeah, it is.

And when I click the [...] it takes me to the bit of script I posted above, like it's meant to.

Btw, you can save yourself a lot of trouble by adding a custom property and setting it to "true" for walk-only hotspots, then adding appropriate code to the rep_ex.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll give it a go.

Sex is more about being together with someone else, or some more. And sharing it.

Meh, you can keep it. 8)
That sort of thing just ain't my bag.

Ah, cool. Good to know someone's out there.

And thanks. :)

Hey.
I'm sure this is going to end up being blindingly obvious, but I'm stuck.

In global I have a LucasartsStatus function, including...
Code: ags

if (mouse.Mode==eModeWalkto) {
  buf = String.Format("Walk to %s", name);
}

In multiple rooms I have something along the lines of...
Code: ags

function hZiggyshouse_MouseMove()
{
 mouse.SaveCursorUntilItLeaves();
 mouse.Mode = eModeWalkto;
 mouse.ChangeModeGraphic(eModeWalkto, 1);
}

This results in the cursor changing and the status line reading Walk to Ziggy's house.

In another room I have...
Code: ags

function hTownhall_MouseMove()
{
 mouse.SaveCursorUntilItLeaves();
 mouse.Mode = eModeWalkto;
 mouse.ChangeModeGraphic(eModeWalkto, 1);
}

With this one, the cursor doesn't change and the status line just reads the town hall (name of the hotspot) without prefacing it with anything.

I've double and triple checked, and I didn't forget to declare the MouseMove function in the event menu thing.

That is the exact same code, isn't it?
So why would it work in all rooms with all hotspots except this particular one?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I never used 2.72 myself, so I can't help you there.
Other than telling you to upgrade. ;)

Either that, or just redraw both Roger and your character at 2x the size and re-import them.

I read once that people (men, women, other) are around twice as likely to orgasm (proper orgasm, not just come) on their own than with a partner.

I reckon it's because on your own you instinctively know when to go up, down, left, rotate 62 degrees, at exactly the right time, speed, what have you.
A partner, no matter how skilled or "in sync" with you they may be, can never know how stuff feels as much as you do yourself.

As I said, overrated.

But hey, if you enjoy it, more power to you.
It's just not for me, is all.

With the right partner, sex can be better than Ben Jordan.

I personally think Ben Jordan's overrated, too.
Maybe I'm just weird.

Release date push-backs: don't you just love them?

The more I work on this game, the more it evolves.
The down side is that the game has now evolved in such a way that its own UI has become illogical.

It's a shame really, as I quite like the current GUI design.
But, you know, interface to fit the game, rather than game to fit the interface, and all that.
Maybe I'll be able to just swap out the sprites and use it for another game somewhere down the line.

Aaaaaanyway, on to said push-back...

Due to the fact that there's so much code related to the current UI that I'll have to strip out, I'm just going to start again from scratch.
Nearly everything but the scripting is done, though, so it shouldn't be more than 2 or 3 weeks before a release.

Just don't hold your breath. ::)

Is anyone actually reading this?
Besides a certain Ghost, I mean.

Oh yeah, and P.S.
They stole my damn idea.
If it turns out to be anything like my game that I'm making with graphics and music I stole from them I'll sue!

One could use the argument "you don't know till you try it". However, trying a new food is one thing, it is quite another to get all tied up and gimped, to find out then I don't like it.

But you wouldn't, would you?
That's like seeing if you like curry by trying a phall.
You'd start with a korma or something and work your way up, stopping when you get to you own preference's limit.

As Makeout said, there are a lot of different colours in the SM rainbow.
And there are plenty of different shades of each of those colours, too.
You don't have to dive head first into a gimp mask to experiment a bit.

However I do ponder that maybe the character art looks a little out of place ingame. The background looks very realistic, maybe "sterile" is a way of describing it, while the character remind me of a caricature. Did the original also do this? I've barely tried it...

Here's a short clip from the original (NES) version featuring both the kitchen and (for a couple of seconds) Ed.

Most of my list have already been mentioned, some several times, but with one glaring omission...

Then again, having a constant wish to be dominated seems to me, even when I try to be liberated, as a complex psychological issue involving shame, guilt or bad self esteem. Maybe just prejudice...

That's probably true, to some extent, but I think there are certainly worse ways of dealing with/letting out said issues.

Also, I've heard/read from a couple of people at least that the appeal to them is that they're such control freaks in their day-to-day life that they relish the experience of having control completely taken away from them. Read into that what you will.

Dammit. Tuomas just made the exact same point while I was writing this. ::)

Also also, there was a guy on Radio 4 a while back who made an interesting point.
The reason why people like spicy foods, he said, is that they actually kill tastebuds, which triggers a release of endorphins. BDSM is just an extreme version of the same thing, like skydiving is to rollercoasters.

^ This. Except maybe the last paragraph.
That's basically what I was trying to say, but a lot more eloquent.

Quote from: lo_res_man on Thu 28/08/2008 03:50:29
The interesting end game from that train of thought however, is that if BDSM becomes accepted by society,then they will become just like those whose kinks aren't what is now considered kinky. If it is no longer a taboo, will it hold the same interest?

I don't think too many people are into BDSM because it's taboo.
People just like what they like because they like it.
And for those that are, there will always be something that polite society frowns upon.

The way to solve your problem isn't scaling up your character, it's redrawing him to fit a 640x480 screen.

But then you'd have to redraw Roger as well, otherwise they'd look odd by comparison.
To get your character just to match Roger, up-scaling is what you're looking for.

Open the sprites section in the editor and select your character.
On the lower-half of the right-hand of the screen, change the resolution drop-down menu to say that your character was drawn at 320x240, and the game will automatically make it twice the size to fit a 640x480 game as it did with Roger.

But Kris is right.
You ultimately want to design your sprites at the same resolution as your game will be running.
It'll just look better.

To take a screenshot, just press F12 when the game's running.
And no, imageshack.us doesn't require you to sign up.

Sex is after all considered a taboo with most people, and a pretty controversial subject.Most people have their images of the usual kind of sex, under the blanket, lights off, sax music, like in all the 80s Hollywood flicks. But in real life it's never the same unless you really are restricted to what you learn from others that are also living in the closet, in a sense.
Quote from: Makeout Patrol on Thu 28/08/2008 00:56:36I'd say that it probably generalizes to people who are into costumes or pegging or role-playing or whatever other fetish you can think up. If somebody is content with lights-off-missionary-position all the time, they are either boring or very, very repressed, in my frank opinion.

I think that's exactly what the issue is, personally.
People who are open about (and act on) their fetishes know what they like, and go for it in spite of the taboos.
They're generally happier because they get more of a... release than those who are too repressed to try something different.

Also, what Buckethead said, that's kinda the same theory.
Homosexuality is still a pretty big taboo in society (that's why it's sometimes really tough for gay people to come out), but once you've overcome a taboo that big, the little stuff that most people stress over must seem somewhat less significant.

Quote from: Makeout Patrol on Thu 28/08/2008 00:56:36
It generalized from this story and kind of talked about the BDSM culture in Britain, which is apparently particularly pervasive but especially hidden, probably because of the social emphasis on propriety in that particular culture.

It's more because BDSM is illegal in the UK, even though it may be completely consensual.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation Spanner, for example.

Hello.

Update:
I spent a few days redesigning and re-redesigning the main GUI and inventory window, and writing a tonne of script to support each new design.

I then spent the last week trawling through hours of footage, capturing and editing stuff to use for graphics.
I've decided upon using sprites with an alpha-channel now, so I had to replace all the old ones.
(I didn't know AGS could support aplhas when I made the demo).

It took a bit longer than I expected, so I'm a bit behind schedule.
As such, the release date has been shunted back from "end of the month" to "early next month".

Aaaaaanyway...

Help wanted:
I be looking for a cartographer to draw me a nice map screen.
I have a prototype layout designed, and plenty of reference pics of the area.

Anyone interested, please get in touch either here, or via pm.
Fame and fangirls/boys await you.

Position filled. 8)

Toodles.
