Well, that's certainly a way to go. I'll wait to vote on further action until hearing more.

Poor owl man. He deserved better than this.

Yeah, that's why I'm only having the minimal animations done this weekend. But I'll most likely add music before the final day. I want to leave the final day for only minor touch ups of things I missed if at all possible.

So, I'm a little behind. I have come up with a few more changes that should make the game better at least. My current goal is to have the game fully playable, but with no music and with limited animation sometime tomorrow.

Oh, of course some games don't work with cartoonish graphics. The graphics need to fit the tone of the game, if not set the tone.
3d graphics can work quite well for adventure games with a more serious tone. It's just that it's rarely done well.
And other than Myst, I can't think of any other 1st person adventure game I've played that wasn't FMV...

I definitely agree about 3d graphics, whether for games or movies. Don't use it unless you can pull it off well.
The Telltale Sam and Max games are a good example. While the graphics are decent, they're just not good enough to pull off the charm of the original game or cartoon series.
And there's games like Fallout 3... Most of the models are just ugly.

That's great. I'm sure that means you've said more on Twitter than you have here.
I can only go by what I see here and on your link.
I do wish you the best of luck, despite how harsh I sounded.

Edit: I decided to click your Twitter link. Maybe you should have included the information that this is a remake of the game the Wizard and the Princess. That alone could be enough to interest some people.

I'm going to be a bit more harsh than the others. Nothing I've seen would make me want to buy your game. If it was free, I'd possibly give it a try.
Your top image made me think of something I'd see for a character pack on DAZ3D or Poser... 7-8 years ago. And the inventory made me think of Lost Eden, a game released 23 years ago. Then there's the fact you didn't even change the verb gui in any way.
If you're thinking about trying to get it on Steam, GoG, and review sites then you'll hear much harsher things.
So yeah, if you're serious about this you need a demo to show why your game is worth paying for.

Broken Sword 1 had excellent gfx :) But very few people can draw like that.
I've only played a few minutes of the Director's Cut version. So I don't have much opinion. Any screenshots I've seen, I don't know which of the games in the series I've seen them from.

Alas, you didn't list my preference. High definition cartoonish, like many of the games being published by Daedalic.
But of what you mentioned, I'd go with pixel.
Semi-realistic is good for rpgs and such, but I've yet to see an adventure game that it was the best option.
2.5d can work sometimes.

Sorry, felt I should correct your "Facts" list there just a tad to include only actual facts.
Well, I know it's a fact at least...

I have canvas and paint, but what should I paint?
I have no idea. Unless you want to do a storyboard of events or something.

Completed Game Announcements / Re: S.A.M

I'll have to wait until next month to give this a try since I don't want it to in any way influence my current game. Looks interesting.

Thumbtacks and shoelaces could work, sure. Now, does anyone have a clue how to set up one of these things up?
Or maybe a diagram would be more useful.
We should figure out what information we know is almost certainly true. Then add what info seems likely, but we're not sure is true. Then put the very questionable info.
Facts: Riaise was strangled.
I didn't kill her.
Unknowns: Mandle may have been contacted by the psychic.
The nurse may have in turn contacted Mandle.

*blinks* I don't suppose anyone has some coffee, a peg board, and some some string?

Thank you :) Hope to implement everything that is planned. Doing GUI atm..
Welcome and good luck.
Also, make sure to add a T to the code Cassie gave you to make it StartCutscene instead of StarCutscene.

Edit to no one specific:
With the release of S.A.M. today, I want to clarify that having my main character as a robot is something I've had planned for weeks.

I'm so chuffed right now! :-D
I'm sure there's a cream to help with that.
Congratulations on the win.

Well, okay. I guess it's less doubts and more accepting the limitations I have (mostly time at this point). I believe it would be better to end it at the point I currently have in mind than to have it continue into mediocrity. And after playing a Tex Murphy game for a few minutes yesterday made me decide simplification of the interactions is best until/unless there's need for more. The extra verbs make sense with a longer game and the interactions evolving over time, but not with a shorter game where there'd only be maybe 2 extra interactions added.

And thanks for the luck. Assuming nothing horrific happens, it should be no problem finishing up in time since I have most things planned out to a large extent.

I most certainly wouldn't get into a brawl with anyone with less than 3 stiff drinks in me.
At most I'd only attempt a battle of wits with Kastchey. But I see no need. Simple misunderstandings and assumptions were made.

Are we deciding what others are to do now? Very well. Contact Mandle. Perhaps they can have a nice glass of cooking wine and talk things over.
#1099
Well, obviously Mandle would be lynched if the nurse is killed. There would be very little course of action to take otherwise.

I have faith in you Slasher.

But I'm having doubts about myself now. I'm wondering if it would be better to cut the game shorter and focus more on animations and making the art look as good as possible. Or do I go with the full story I currently have, which will be underwhelming past a certain point since I don't have the time to do it full justice?
I'm also wondering if I should go ahead with using verbs or just simplify to use and look.

Yeah, I'm just going to simplify things. The ending will be open ended to be continued and I'll wait on using the verbs until then too. Luckily it's built on the BASS template, so all I have to do to remove the verb part is dummy out a few lines.
