Good luck. Hopefully it's something fairly easily fixed.

Go-Bots?

I'm just going to let someone else help with this.

Pictures I found of the bottom makes it look like removing the hard drive should be a simple matter of removing some screws. As for what cables would be needed, I don't know enough.
And it sounds like it might just be an issue with the screen.
So, is there any way you could hook it up to a monitor or tv?

And I don't know of a way you could easily hook another laptop up to this one under the circumstances (there probably is a way, just not one I know).
#1186
That doesn't sound good.
I'd need more info. Does anything show up at all? Does it make noise?
Can you hook the laptop up to another monitor or tv to make sure it's not just the laptop screen?

And hooking a laptop hard drive to another computer depends on a lot of variables. Some laptops you can easily remove the hard drive. Then you'd just need the right cables. But some laptops are designed to not be modified by anyone but professionals.

Spoiler

There is some sort of David Lynch vibe going on in this game. I liked that but for the rest it felt very unfinished. Like how for example you could get the phone and the battery and you would think that you would need to combine those things, but it's not possible. By the way, you left debug mode on (as did I at first).

Spoiler
Well, I actually have been watching Twin Peaks some the last month or so. And yeah, the combining them issue was fixed with the non-MAGS version I uploaded yesterday. And I didn't even think about debug mode... Oops.
Thanks for the feedback.

Nice. I'll watch the video later. If I remember.
No specific goals today. Going to try to figure out the art style some and do a bit of coding.
Will be days before I'll have anything to show since I want to avoid screenshots of the starting area.

I really like the sprites of this game, it's sad that you never continue it.
Thanks. The problem is that I didn't know where to go with the game past the initial premise.
Maybe I'll attempt another game with a vaguely LucasArts style for a future MAGS game.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by the question. There's an area for creating global variables.
Here's a screenshot from the project I made to make sure that things work as I tried to explain.

Once I left the bedroom I couldn't enter any more - there was simply no hotspot. I also found it hard to find the hotspot for leaving the hallway, it was not where I expected it to be.
Yeah, somehow the shape for the hotspot to the bedroom either got erased or something. I didn't even notice in my testing.
And the other just seems to have been how my brain works compared to apparently anyone else's. Sorry for the issues. Luckily they've now been addressed. Thanks for the input.
#1193
Ah. I thought the angle, etc. implied the location. Apparently I was wrong...
Guess I should have at least drawn something to show that the area to the right was the kitchen/dining room. Or put a hotspot indicating such...
*immediately starts work on an updated version*

Edit: There's now a non-MAGS version which hopefully fixes all the issues that people mentioned. It's the 2nd download.

Maybe cause the hotspots aren't on the door opening?
I also thought it to be very hard to find the doors hotspots and the character is walking on the walls too.

Also,

How do you use the battery with the phone to order the pizza?

Okay, I think I understand the problem. Was the hotspot at the bottom of the room to get back to the hallway too small?

Spoiler
You can't. That's why I mentioned that the items don't really do anything. I ran out of time before I could do it.

Well, that was weird. I got stuck after getting the coupons, phone and battery because I couldn't do anything more and finding the exits was super hard.

Spoiler
I'm interested to know what was hard about finding the exits. Exits for the rooms should have been hotspots. It wasn't meant to be pixel hunting or anything. So I'm genuinely wondering where the problem was. Maybe you did something which I didn't think of that caused a glitch?

Well, that certainly should be interesting.
You certainly have more done than I do.
I did create a template for making main verb gui at least. And I have enough of a background to do some programming.
So now to design a version of the player character. At least I don't have to worry about a standard walk cycle...
#1197
Maybe, maybe not. It's not like I'd spend more than 2-4 hours on tweaking it anyway. The main thing I need to figure out is which things should happen with mouse over the hotspot and which should happen with clicking.
At the least a verb list that I can easily change for the room/hotspot will be useful with the nature of the game.
And it's possible I might just completely drop the verb coin part. But it's easier if I start with the possibility than to decide to go back and add it. Changing interface midway through making a game is what caused me to make a total mess of May's game and unable to finish it.

But thanks for the luck.
#1198
Wow, you're really burning the midnight oil.

All I've managed to do is test to make sure that I can easily use the verb coin and verb list. It'll requite some tweaking, of course.
#1199
For some reason that made me think of Punk rock.

As for me, today I plan to at least make a sketch version of the first background and at least partially script for the first room. I also plan to have some version of the player character drawn and to test a hybrid interface based on what I did last month, but with an option of a regular verb list at the bottom.

You know what, I liked it! Sure there wasn't much in terms of actual gameplay and the whole was very rushed, but the setting gave me sort of a surreal horror vibe which was kind of cool. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your August MAGS game.

Spoiler
Thanks. I was wanting to make it more surreal, but I simply didn't have the creativity for it. I'm hoping this month will go much better too. At the least it shouldn't be as rushed.
