Since everyone else seems to have put thought and effort into their games, I'm not bothering with trying to finish my game which would end up being mostly a maze where you collect ingredients to achieve the infamous cat hair moustache puzzle.
Congratulations to everyone who has finished their game already and good luck to those who are still working.

Quote from: WHAM on Fri 31/01/2025 09:01:22I think I see the concept of Mystery Mansion Mayhem, but when I tried it out I mostly encountered non-functioning interactions and placeholders, and without direction on what to even try to do, I got a bit stumped. From what I can tell the concept is a randomly generated murder mystery game that can provide replayability and variation, which is a really interesting concept, but in its current state there just wasn't enough to show off.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. Congrats on winning.

I accidentally replaced the game files instead of uploading alternative downloads. Changes made: fixing ladder issues brought up by pell and adding 2 books accessible via the ladder.

I took a look at MMM. The graphics look very nice. I know you got stuck in asset development and didn't finish the game. Looks like you're all set up for the next "finish your MAGS game" topic.

For whatever it's worth, here are a couple of issues I encountered:
Spoiler
When the player character is facing any view except towards us, it is in silhouette. Also, when the character climbs onto the ladder, they get stuck. Pushing and pulling the ladder works even when the character is on the ladder, but nothing allows getting off.

Thanks.
Spoiler
That's not an issue so much as the only way I'd have time to make the game. The maid is the only character I got any amount of walkcycle done for. As for the ladder, I'm not surprised. I ran out of time before being able implement searching for anything in the bookshelves.

I had no plans of making a game, but I've had ideas come to me after watching Doom Patrol the last few days. And after waking up I had more ideas which flesh things out more.

The more I look at the images, the more I think I've seen whatever movie this is, but don't remember anything specific about it. So, I'm going to guess Push.

The answer is no, not really. Just proof of concept. But hopefully the intended functions work.

Hopefully I'll get something playable by the deadline. I made the mistake of going out and am still recovering from sensory overload.

I second wishing for an extension. I can technically make my game playable in the next 11 hours and whatever minutes, but I'm not sure I'd be able to make sure everything works and that dialog/descriptions is coherent.

Vantage Point?

At this point I've decided I'm just going to use modified backgrounds and characters from Maniac Mansion/Maniac Mansion Mania to finish off my game.

Great game , I never played the first version,
the voice acting is brilliant.
I am totally stuck with

the control panel. I guess it controls the position of the satellite dish
and it has something to do with the not, but nothing happens when I press
in N,S,E or W direction

This is another gem in the AGS collection, simply great  !
That's where I got stuck too.

Spoiler
The note tells you how to unlock the panel using the direction pad.

I have no idea how the mystery part of my game is going to work still. I've been more focused on character design. It's probably going to end up more proof of concept than satisfying mystery solving.

I'm not at a professional level, but here's my input. In general I use Inkscape for general background layout. I've started using Spriter Pro for animations. And I use Gimp for the rest. I use Inkscape because it does vector graphics and is easier to figure out angles and such for me. I've started using Spriter because it uses bones and keyframes. Blender can do the same things, I've just not learned how to use the 2D side of it. And I use Gimp simply because it's free and the graphics program I'm most familiar with.

Currently all I have. I did watch the episode of something which I hoped would give me more ideas how to do my game, but nothing much yet. There's a few directions the game could go from this point. Figuring out the primary character(s) will probably guide me toward a direction.

The other day I saw someone say that every submission on Itch for the AdvX jam flagged as a virus on Windows 11. So I think it may be part Itch and part Windows Defender for Windows 11.

After having worked with Sally the past couple of weeks, this is great timing. Great job. [Insert blue cup thumbs up emoji which doesn't exist]

I have an idea. I just don't know how well I can execute it. I haven't really played many mystery games. The base idea is mostly based on the multiple endings for the movie Clue.

Ooo, the game I worked on is shown as the 2nd. But since I didn't do the programming, I fear it's not made with AGS.

Since I just saw the Old Skies trailer, I felt I should add that the game was conceived by, written by, and mostly voice acted by Sally Beaumont. So if anyone wants to play one of the games not made in AGS, but is at least a little adjacent, there's A Crisis of Fae.

Huh... This is kind of the idea I had for last month that I was unable to do. Though I was going to go more the Rashomon type. I'll see if I can come up with a a good enough new idea to do.
