I was going to join in on the first day, but didn't due to the expired certificate...

My first introduction to Dune was watching the Alan Smithee version of the movie on the Scifi Channel with my older brother. I've never actually seen the theatrical cut. I have read all of the original books and even the first 3 prequels and the one sequel meant to tie things up. I've also seen the miniseries several times. And I've played the game quite a few times.

I like a lot of the Lynch movie. Especially the costumes and actor choices for most characters. But Ian McNiece definitely was the better Baron. But yeah, Lynch definitely did some things to make it bad. Like the weirding modules, which were only okay because of how they worked in the game...

I'm still not sure about the guy chosen for Paul in the new movie. His voice is just wrong to me. Sounds more like a wimpy kid than someone who was raised by a Bene Gesserit.

But pretty much any other thoughts have been covered by others.

The Invisible Man?

Yeah... I have no clue. I only guessed Welcome to Paradox because it thought that somehow the VW Beetles released in the late 90s looked futuristic enough to use as is...

But I will keep guessing random Scifi Channel shows until I have something better to go on.

I did get some foundations done at least. I'll probably end up using modified versions of Maniac Mansion Mania stuff to be able to get the game done. I plan to work on it some today. Hopefully I will actually finish the game this time.

Things for the $104 Adventure Game Challenge have ballooned where I'm not likely to work much, if at all, on my game until the 28th. So, I'm still a maybe.
I have enough figured out that I can make the game in 3 days. I just don't know if I'll have the energy and motivation by then.

No one saw anything. 

I still haven't come up with much for my game. But maybe I will do some programming this afternoon using stand in graphics...

VampireWombat: what's your main focus (story, art, coding)? Did you wind up settling on the kid detective?

Generally the art ends up being what gets most focused on. Story almost always ends up less than I want. I'm not great at coding, but I have always been able to get what I need done.

Probably. Maybe. Perhaps. Unless a better idea comes up or someone wants to work with me on a game.

Actually, I just got an idea a few minutes ago that takes it in a completely different direction. A kid detective.

I guess I probably shouldn't rely on Tvtropes to clarify genres.

I have vague ideas, but still no main idea.

I'm now actually a little confused by the theme. I realized and confirmed that Cloak and Dagger refers to spies, secret organizations, etc. So does this mean that both interpretations are equally valid? Or does the P.I. have to investigate some kind of secret organization?

I'm still a maybe. I've thought about it some, but I haven't come up with anything useful yet.

I personally have been using Discord to communicate with people more than the forums the last few months. And I admit, I also have been moving away from using AGS. Ironically it did start with 3D donut posts in the AGS Discord. I do still check the forums multiple times a day, but I have stopped posting as much...

As for the bullying of Anna that Ali mentioned, I don't think she took it took it too hard. I joined the Kapia Discord a couple of weeks ago and joked about how badly things went. Though I do doubt she'll likely be a regular around here. Which is a shame since she is pretty nice.

The playground with snow makes me think it's not... But, Outbreak?

I'm also rather curious about Princess of Mars. I assume the book is in the public domain so they could simply do a straight adaptation without the usual "Captain Ersatz" substitutions.

I've actually seen Princess of Mars, but not John Carter. Or read the books. But from what I understand, Princess of Mars does indeed use the same characters and vaguely the same story.

I've seen several of the Asylum mockbusters, actually. The Sherlock Holmes one is fun and totally absurd. The CGI is low quality, but still... robot dinosaur.

Looks like I won't be finishing the game today after all. Sorry. Congratulations to those who did finish.

I think I've also solved the issue of the Lovecraftian monsters never looking as insanity-inducing in onscreen graphics as they are supposed to be in the mythos world...

Sounds interesting. Hopefully it's not a method which can cause seizures.

For reasons I won't bring up, I didn't get as much done yesterday as I hoped. Is there any chance of like a 3 hours extension? I might not need it, but I'd hate for an hour before the deadline to realize I need like an extra hour to make things work...

So... anyway.

I might try to make a game this month after all. The theme works well for Urban Fantasy, so maybe I'll finally get around to making one. But first I need to finish this month's game.

If anyone is interested in making an urban fantasy game, let me know. If you're unsure what Urban Fantasy is, the Blackwell series and Unavowed are the best game examples and as well as the Dresden Files and Constantine books/comics.
