Huh, I didn't remember Gary Cole being in One Hour Photo...

Honestly, the weird type of dithering makes my brain and eyes feel weird. The disconnect between the sprites being low res, but the dithering being high res creates an uncanny effect. Which isn't to say it looks bad.

Hulk Hogan's Rock N Wrestling? Sure, I know that's the name of a cartoon series, but maybe there was a game adaptation?

The most useful info I've found so far about making an inventory similar to what you want is here.

Have you learned enough about AGS for this to be a concern for you yet?
Technically you can program movement yourself, but a module would be better.
I suggest this module.

As for the other stuff, give me a day or two and I'll give you a sample game.

Some sort of wrist brace or wrap should help with the pain at least. The right brace would also reduce the strain.

So you mean basically making the whole animation to be a full-screen-sized animated object? That's... actually a very cool idea o_O

I've never worked with animated gifs in AGS though... I guess it's as simple as importing a gif, and AGS separates it into all its frames automatically so you can then assign them to an object view?

Yeah. It's the only way I could think of to make things work exactly as wanted. I think the Earth was a background, but not 100% sure.

And pretty much, yeah. Have to make sure the gif is the type that replaces each frame but that shouldn't be too hard.

I also have a Donkey Kong arcade animation I did last month which didn't end up being used that I could share if you wanted.

Depending on what software/methods the animation is made, it could be exported as an animated gif and then imported into AGS and then animated. I did this for a space ship crash scene for my March MAGS game.

I'd say it depends on the game you're wanting to make.
The short story I Have No Mouth And Must Scream was adapted (with the author's help) into an adventure game. And there was a novelization of The Dig. And the book On Stranger Tides was at least somewhat of an influence on The Secret of Monkey Island.
So, really almost any published author could be useful. Every author has strengths or weaknesses. So it really depends on what you're wanting to learn.
Even Goosebumps books could be useful reading depending on the game you're wanting to make.
I'd even go as far to say that the Twlight books could have their uses...

You did a good job capturing the likeness of a Swedish police uniform!
Thanks. I made sure to do plenty of research for clothes and such. Some versions will include the hats and/or neon vests.

It's not technically a screenshot, but close enough.
The goat is still in a very rough stage, but at least it's no longer made up of barrels, a pinball machine, etc.
And the character sprite needs a little more tweaking...

Hey thanks man, I appreciate the offer. And honestly I'd love to, BUT I have to move in couple of days to a place where I can't really access my computer or internet for a while. When I get to a stable condition and able to work on the game I'll pm you to see if you'd still like to.  (laugh)
Understandable. Good luck with the move.

After reading the comments and actually getting around to playing the demo, I'd be willing to do the graphics for you if you're interested.

Ah, I recognize the actor from Seaquest. And I know what show this is, despite not watching it in years...
Just add an N to the badge...

You should be fine with that. Most Linux users should be able to figure it out with the info you provided. Or be able to play the Windows version using Wine. I've done both the last 24 hrs and I'm far from an advanced Linux user.

Now I'm kind of interested in what was said...

Hopefully someone is making the Cheese Rolling game.

I am going forward with the Gävle goat game, though the programming is probably going to end up more complex than my original game. I almost have the sprite style figured out and I started a character creation GUI a couple of days ago. And I have a crude version of the goat itself. I'm not sure what genre the game will fall into. Probably some kind of hybrid.

I figured it was SeaQuest. It looks like one of the mini subs they used at times. And the Sci-Fi logo makes it even more likely...

The simplest way is to create a gui with buttons showing what the character will look like. And code the buttons to change the character view.

A LiveCD of Ubuntu should actually do what's needed. No installation or needing to learn how to use a virtual machine.
