Mandle got it right. It's definitely the blacksmith from Return to Zork. Return to Zork was my first FMV adventure game.

Okay, looks like I'm going through with The Last Magic of Oz. I'm going to attempt graphics along the lines of stuff published by Daedalic Entertainment. The backgrounds won't be as nice, of course. But my plan is to start 1 background and 1 character a day and work on details on the weekend until I have all the graphics I need or run out of time.
This will definitely be the most ambitious game I've tried, but at least I do have an end goal and over a dozen books for inspiration and ideas.

Hmm, tempting. I did write part of some fan sequels a few years ago. They were based purely on the L. Frank Baum ones. I have enough vague memory of the ideas I could probably do it. I'd have to re-read the books to do it justice, but it could be interesting. I'm not sure if the Wogglebug has been represented in any media outside of the books. I'll see what I can do.
I noticed the trend in the books of Glenda getting rid of magic. The first story I had in mind would be about the last of the magic other than her own being removed and the repercussions. And would somehow have Uncle Henry, the Wogglebug, and Oscar Zoroaster involved with a university. And that's all I had figured out for that story. My focus had been more on one further off, set more or less modern times.
So, I shall attempt to make The Last Magic of Oz. Unless a better title comes to mind.
And I realized since it's November, I could write things out and use it for NaNoWrimo to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Like a PS2 game? So it takes an hour to get used to reading it and if you stop reading it and try coming back to it a month or more later it'll be almost impossible without starting from the beginning?
I looked it up and was surprised to see a missile on the cover. "James Bond and Dirk Pitt can step aside - a new action hero has arrived to take their place."
Now I'm going to have to look up Dirk Pitt since I've never actually read a spy novel and if there's been movies, I haven't heard of them...

But I suppose it does legitimize my joking about making a Scarecrow and Mrs. King game. Anyone want to take that challenge?

Oooo, fun. Looks like a cheesey 70s or 80s sci fi anime. Doesn't look like Voltron or Galaxy Express to me.
Mazinger Z?

It's a very neat idea, but it was a bit disappointing that there was no graphics for the map screen.

Thanks. Actually, that's one of the issues I fixed yesterday. I'll be uploading a revised non-MAGS version sometime today if you're interested in seeing the 2 player characters, more dialog, etc.

Well to be honest, I like Howard the Duck as well. At least the first half. I've never watched the others you mentioned.

But the second half is kind of fun. Especially if you were to mix some of the footage into Beetlejuice to create a kind of sequel where Charles get possessed. Maybe use some footage from Transylvania 6-5000...
I probably wouldn't recommend Pluto Nash to anyone, though. But Tank Girl is fun. Ice T as a mutant kangaroo, Malcolm McDowell as the villain. I don't understand why it's so hated. Maybe the world wasn't ready for how weird it was...

Hey, no shit-talking Howard the Duck.  :=
If it helps, I actually like the 3 movies I mentioned. And Howard the Duck is sitting on a shelf next to my X-Men movies.

WWW has a bad rep, but I rewatched it recently on cable and actually had a pretty good time with it.

I think it flopped hard because Will Smith was fresh off of "MIB" and Kevin Kline was at his height of comedic fame after "A Fish Called Wanda" and "Dave" and WWW certainly can't live up to any of those movies.

But it was so creative with all the alternate history and steampunk tech that I found it quite charming on a second look.
I don't know... I think I'd prefer to watch a marathon of Howard the Duck, Pluto Nash, and Tank Girl.
There were just too many parts that were simply uncomfortable. Like the fact that they re-imagined a character played by a dwarf actor as Kenneth Branagh without legs in a steampunk wheelchair. And then there's the Spider Mech which Kevin Smith complained about the director wanting to have as far back as the Superman movie starring Nicholas Cage...

I don't see a big distinction between made for tv movies and straight to dvd movies, as long as there is a dvd release. And the Blood Moon dvd has more nudity and probably more violence than it did on tv.

The first time I watched it on tv, it was called Wolf Girl. But the dvd I have calls it Blood Moon.
Your turn, Ben X.

Nope. Clue was made more than a decade before this.
Here's a gif I found.

Wild wild west?
I would never subject anyone to that. Especially myself.

Danvzare - Ah. Maybe one day I'll check it out.
And no, more than 2 decade newer than Rocky Horror, but it is Tim Curry.

I'm honestly not sure if I made it through the 2nd. So, nope. Sure, I own the first 3 movies, but that's only because they came on collection with all of the Puppet Master movies at the time.

This movie has at least 2 English titles.

That's... Killjoy, isn't it?

Ah oh, I just noticed the second rule of only being fueled by coffee. I've unwittingly been cheating by drinking Green Tea too. :embarrassed:

Now to make Scarecrow and Mrs. King, the game! Wait... Bruce Boxleitner didn't play an actual Scarecrow? Oops. Guess I'll try another attempt at some kind of Urban/Contemporary Fantasy game instead.

The contest is now closed and the voting begins.
Vote using the poll above.
Not to be too nitpicky, but aren't you forgetting BlondBraid's entry?

I'm glad to see something else did get submitted. Of course when I submitted my game I didn't realize there had been a time change since the time change doesn't happen here until this Sunday...
So, some warnings about my game.
Spoiler

I didn't have time to do a full playthrough, I didn't have time to do dialog trees for more than 2 characters, most of the subtlety and foreshadowing is missing, and what's needed to get the ended was severely dumbed down. And I had to cut being able to choose characters because of the coding required for the mirror room. Probably at least one of these would have been slightly different if I had actually noticed the time change before hand. But it has a beginning, middle, and end. But I'm fairly happy with the results since I only worked on it 6 days.

No Slasher?
I have mine finished and compiled, but I lost the screenshots. So it's going to technically be a few minutes late. Sorry.

Less than 11 hours now...
Where's your entry, Slasher?
Mine will of course be close to the deadline. Hopefully no one will expect too much from 6 days of work.
