Just my two cents, AGDs...
But I think Al Emmo was nominated for worst game just because your previous effort, KQ2VGA was so good. It doesn't have anything to do with the game being sold, at least not in my opinion. It doesn't have a spark of the fire KQ2 had, even if the portraits were not lip-synced, even if the graphics were not as good. As I am sure you are well aware of the fact that the game was out on practically all torrent sites, I shall say that the demo discouraged me to download the game for free, let alone buy it. The latter is something I would not have hesitated to do for KQ2VGA.
So, in my opinion, the immense difference between great expectations and the modest game Al Emmo seems to be, at least story-wise, got you a p3n15 award nomination.
And if you want another opinion of mine, you should not try to bring back classic adventure gaming - it is as flawed as it is dead, but strive for new heights of the genre - you've surely got the potential.

Albeit I told you my opinion on IRC, I shall elaborate upon it.
In theory, parsers can give you much more freedom and you can do whatever you wish in a game.
Actually, however, creating a parser that understands more elaborate things than verbs plus nouns is a very hard thing to do, and even more so with the limited parser possibilities of AGS.
While it gives the freedom of using  obscure actions such as say, kneel, jump or pronounce, their implementation is something that is more likely to lead to exasperation than to a rewarding puzzle. Some silly and ridiculous examples of this are the ridiculous "say the word" and "hold gem in mouth" puzzles in SQ2.
So what I would suggest is that you use a GK3-like point and click system, showing only the available actions when a hotspot is clicked over. That would allow you to use various actions while sparing the player the frustration from non-obvious actions.

Critics' Lounge / Re: my comic

To me this is obvious irony of some other people's comics. And a good job at that, Yuf.

And another argument I thought of, a game does not necessarily have to have music to be immersing, or it can be immersing without much music, or even pale and otherwise weak music.
#125
Perhaps the Immersion category could be renamed to Immersion and music(or vice versa)?

QuoteWell, some audio guys are going to get something today when they hear the Best Music and Best use of Sound nominations...

If they do admirably well, perhaps they will. But what if they don't? Or what if their soundtrack is just 'pretty good' and does not get a nomination? I, as a musician, personally like to hear opinions on my game soundtracks(scarce as they might be), but that doesn't happen too often due to the fact that there isn't a music category in the games page. Take The Shivah/freeware version/, which I made the music for. Apparently 19 people voted for it on the game page, but I got feedback from no more than 4-5 people for my work.
Just my two cents.

Bulgarian it is, what exactly would you like translated?

I think it's a nice game altogether, but  the problem stays the same as in 7 days and especially Trilby's notes - the idea is pretty much dried up. I think Yahtzee should explore new ground.

I've seen many "I like [game], recommend something similar" threads, and thought, "Why not take it a bit further?"

So, I shall recommend some works of art for people who liked The last express:

Books:
Stamboul Train by Graham Greene

Movies:
The lady vanishes
The third man
Casablanca
Journey into fear

Feel free to recommend related media to adventure gamers!

I must admit, drums are my weak spot... I had quite some trouble doing the drums for the album, and n3tgraph and Petteri helped me on some occasions.
As for the samples themselves, I changed the ones I am using already, just wanted to finish the album with consistent drum samples.

The lyrics, my friend, were written well before rock even existed.. and hence I wouldn't say they are influenced by APP in any way.
I would say I was influenced throughout the writing process, sure - for instance, I wanted a "Dream within a dream"-like instrumental to open the album, and to have some Marillion-like instrumentals within the other songs. Other than that, what most influenced me was the entity of the Marillion albums, and I strived for it in my work as well.
That being said, being influenced doesn't mean copying anyone and I believe I have built my own style upon the influences.
It's also nice to hear good words about my singing, since I sang two of the songs with a sore throat and a damn cold. :)

*bump* I have updated the first post.

General Discussion / Re: Happy New Year!

Happy new year, EU citizens! :D

Yeah, well happy new year to the rest too.

Ill definitely do something more uplifting in the future, I need a break from gloomy sonic skies. :)

Hey Erenan, I appreciate your creative crits.
You're right that the mod of the album does not vary a lot - it is because I did not want it to vary. As I've written on the site, the works of Debelyanov are the works of a disillusioned man, who has yet kept the longing for beauty in his heart. And that's pretty much what I wanted to recreate musically - not the "go out and party" kind of rock, but rather the "sit back and listen concentrated" one.
If you knew Bulgarian, you might have been more touched by the words themselves, but hardly by the music. Yet again I shall say that the translations will be up shortly, so you'll decide for yourself whether you like them or not.
As for my vocal register, you say you like me singing higher notes, Oneway says the contrary, so I guess I'll just continue using it all. ;)
Again, thanks for taking the time to listen to this and criticise it constructively, even if it is not exactly your cup of tea.

Edit: Ghost, just saw your post, thanks a lot for your enthusiastic words, you have a good time too!

Thank you for the kind words, Oneway, and I'm glad you liked it! You know, once you are familiar with the album you're more than welcome to leave your review/comment/opinion on the website.
And I'll have a damn good New Year's Eve, don't you worry about that!

Thanks guys.

Matt:
Progressive rock albums, as I see them, are supposed to be listened to wholly, it's not the single tracks that are strong, but the album as a whole. I have tried to achieve this and I think that if you listen to the whole thing, not just "some tracks" from it. That's what's also preventing many people from realising how great progrock actually is, they don't have the patience. No offence or anything, just my two cents on the subject.

erenan: looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Hey Damien, thanks, I appreciate it!
The second song is the first one I wrote and has been on my website for quite some time, yeah. You would probably understand most of the lyrics in the Bulgarian section too, give that a peek.
#139
It's in my native language, Bulgarian. Poetic translations of the poems will be up shortly, as is said on the website.
Thanks, Tuomas, and a raised eyebrow meaning "Well?" to everyone else.

... is an album!

Basically, it is a progressive rock album based on the verses of the renowned Bulgarian poet Dimcho Debelyanov. So if you have a weak spot for the softer edge of progrock you are sure to like it! ^_^
Since that's not that common, though, you could just give it a try, and  say what you think.
You can read all about it there, and download it. Merry Christmas, everyone! :)

Edit:

Half of the poems are now translated and uploaded to the website.

Also, if you're not sure whether you'd like to download and listen to the album, you may hear a sample song on last.fm. Give it a try, mmkay?
