ProgZ, it's like I'm finally paying you for all this Resonance work you've done for me!  Enjoy you bathtub full of whatever your percent of my $15 is!

Dave, I've had it for a while, as you know, and I haven't beaten it yet.  But it's looking awesome so far!  Congrats on the release!

What errors are you getting?  What have you tried to do so far?  Give us some information so that we can help you.

Someone could take the time to make you a template, but next time you want something changed, are you just going to come here and ask someone to do it for you again?

If you're really planning on making a commercial game, you'd better figure out how to code these things yourself, or hire someone who can.

Again, post what you've done so far, maybe copy/paste some code into [code ][/ code] tags and we'll tell you what you're doing wrong.

I assume you're not talking about the .zip file.  If you are then let me google that for you.

Take the thedigtemplate.agt file and put it in your AGS folder (where the AGSEditor.exe is installed).  Then start a new game and choose the template.

I have no idea what you're talking about...  ???

Hey, km10, when you said that you made several critical mistakes while making Quite Soulless, did you actually take them into account and try to learn from your mistakes while making this new game?

If so, what were the mistakes you were talking about, and what did you do to correct them in Space Spy?

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=36967.msg487595#msg487595
Quoteas for Quite Soulless it is financially very unsuccessfull project , I've made several mistakes in the several fields, each of them was critical, so I would rather forget (for now) about the project,

I ask because to me, it looks like you are making all of the exact same mistakes.  Aren't you worried about another financially unsuccessful project?

P.S. I would try out Space Spy, but Unity Player just crashes when it tries to load.

Or if you want to move the player, then you can just change "cCharacter" to "player".

Seriously, this is all in the tutorial.  Take a look!  We can't help you any more than that until you help yourself.  Sorry.

Oh dear...  :-X

Emily,

When you have AGS open, press the F1 key.  This will open the manual.  The manual contains a beginner's tutorial (under the contents tab) which you should go through to learn how to get started.  It includes information about changing rooms.

For us to help you, please invest a little time and effort first.  It'll help you and help the people helping you.

To specifically answer your question, when editing the room, click the "Show this room's:" drop down and choose "edges." Then drag the edges to the appropriate place in your room.  Then, on the sidebar, find the little button that looks like a lightning bolt.  Then click "walks off bottom/left/top/right" (whichever one you want) and click the little "..." button next to it.  This will open up the script for the room and add a function that will be run when the player walks past the appropriate edge.  Then add the script that Mr. Matti so kindly provided for you, but change "cWhoever" to the script name of your character and the "3, 100, 100" to appropriate numbers for what you're trying to accomplish.

That will all make a lot more sense after you invest the time and effort to go through the tutorial.

Edit: Also, it is bad etiquette on this forum to post a second time to say "hurry answer my question!" especially after waiting only eight minutes.  Do not double post.  And DEFINITELY do not post in a completely unrelated post to urge people to answer your question.  Look on this board, you would be hard pressed to find any one who had a question that was not answered in a few hours.  Have some patience.  Finally, make sure to search the manual and this forum before you post a question, as your question has probably already been answered somewhere, and thus, you don't need to wait at all.  (IANAM)

Do you have a character named "cmary"?  Are you sure it isn't "cMary"?  Capitalization is important.  When you type in cmary followed by a period, do you get a pop up of all the possible methods and variables (such as ID)?  If not, then you've got the wrong name.  This doesn't look like a problem with the 3D char module.

Painting: All the memories fit together into one big picture, which you fill in bit by bit. (Probably most useful to represent amnesia or repressed memories.) (cf. Braid, Sketchy Memories.)

Great list Snarky!  Full of fun ideas!

Marianuchy22,  there isn't much point in continuing to ask for a way to change it on the AGS executable, because it's not currently an option and wont be any time soon.

The solution has been given to you.  Create a bootstrap or wrapper executable that launches the game and add your custom information to that.  I did this very thing with my game anna.

There are many ways to do this.  I suggest using google so that you can find information about how to do so in your native language.
#671
Make a bootstrap launching program and set that information to whatever you want.

Hope I get to see you again next year, wherever that may be. Holland?

One of these years I will get you people to let me host in Japan.  Just because I don't live there anymore (though I still own a house there) doesn't mean I wouldn't host a killer island Mittens with karaoke and sushi and t-shirts containing ridiculous English mistakes.

PS: Upload pictures, people.

Seconded!  And with more captions!  I still don't know who half the people in the pics are!

I vote for renaming this thread "English 101 without Trihan"

Thanks, you're right - that does keep appearing, even after I delete it again!

And for some reason clicking on some pages tries to load "martuz.cn" whatever the s**t that is. I'll look into this, cheers! :)

LOL so sorry Vince I must've hit edit rather than reply with quote! LOL :/ - m0ds

Great, now it looks like I'm talking to myself...

QuoteMods, this kind of thing can happen when someone hacks your website and inserts some hard to find malicious code.  Looking through your page source, I found:
Code: ags
<script language=javascript><!--

on this page: http://screen7.co.uk/film/phat/index.htm

I'm not sure what it does, but it doesn't look like something intended.  You should look through all the pages on your site and remove the offending code.  Then, get google to change your site's status from a malware site to a clean site.  I'm not 100% sure how to do that, but http://www.google.com/addurl/ might be the place to start.  Also, change your passwords.

General Discussion / Re: Bit Torrents
Wed 01/07/2009 00:43:24
Yes, BitTorrent is the name of a client AND the protocol.  BitTorrent the client is perfectly fine for downloading torrents, but I and, I believe, most other people prefer other clients like uTorrent.

The thing that you're talking about with opening them straight from the browser can also be done by any other torrent client, including uTorrent.  (Though you're wrong about the torrent file not being on your HD.  It's there, it's just being stored in a temp directory somewhere depending on your settings.)

The VO work for Emerald City Confidential ended up costing about $23,000.

QuoteFor my internal games like Blackwell, I get a much better deal!  The actors I use here in New York usually charge about 50 or so a pop
I'm so using the Dave Gilbert Voice Acting Studio for Resonance...

Great point J!

I had a similar issue in an early version of AGS 3.0, but I thought it was fixed.  The issue was that I was starting the GUI with an 8 bit graphic, then when the game was started, that GUI was created as an 8 bit graphic, so when I would then change it to something with alpha transparency, it would render all the alpha as solid white, assuming it was still 8 bit.  I'm not sure if that's what's happening here, but it could be worth checking if you're setting the background graphic of the GUI to an 8 or 16 bit sprite at some point.
