Ah, oh yes.  After seeing it next to your name, I always thought it was you, ddq.  But now I vaguely remember running into him while he was in the process of building it.

With everyone now leveling their creations with TNT in preparation for this weekends reboot, I think my subterranean humble dirt shack may be the last structure left standing!

Haha.  Speaking of my further experiments with TNT... I built a dirt shack across the water from DDQ's pirate ship and made the walls three layers thick, with the middle layer TNT and tons of extra tnt under the shack.  The inside of the shack had some pressure switches on the ground, which, if you stepped on them, would blow the whole thing.  Outside was a sign warning everyone not to enter.

Looking at the latest cartograph... someone entered!

(The other structure just to the north wasn't there when I built my bomb shack, glad they didn't seem to take any damage)

Damn, that's some nasty stuff.  Out the griefer!  Who was it?

I blew a significant area of Arboris' garden up with some accidental TNT.  (And learned that blowing up TNT turns nearby TNT into exploding projectiles) and realized that I needed to stay way further away from other people's stuff when experimenting with the stuff.  Which is why the rest of my experiments are across a body of water from everybody else's stuff.

I erected the Garden Memorial Garden to replace Arboris' decor, so I would hope that anybody on our servers would have the same response to an accident and not do it on purpose.

I did meet one other guy on the server once who was not an AGSer and had just googled randomly for a server to go play on.  I figured as long as he wasn't a dick, he could do that.  But maybe it's time to set up a large obsidian box around the spawn point and have people teleported out by admins when they want to join.  Keep this to ourselves.

Great carto!  Yes, it was me who took the unnecessarily long walk up there.  I thought it was all going in one direction, but apparently I took a 90 degree turn in there.  You can see the island up there where I built the Shrine of XII and later where I ran out of torches so started lighting trees on fire so I could see.  :)  Sorry if that caused strain on the server!

Cool to see all the sweet buildings.  I see some structures that I wish I had checked out like the big docks.

Fun!

At least a cartographer pic before reset?

An award I've won in the past, and the only award I had a chance to win this year!  Damn!   :P

Can somebody make a cartographer pic of the world?

I just built my house next to Gradius' Watershack!

Spoiler
Remember: type /home to return to the spawn point

Another lefty here!  Put me in with the group who uses the mouse with the right hand because that's the only option I had growing up.  Just can't do it with my left, especially if the buttons are inverted.

I use scissors right-handed as well because it's usually tough to come by a decent pair of lefty scissors.

If you put a left handed option in a game, I wouldn't use it.

I say we let gays into the military and have a new "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy regarding homophobes.  As in "we won't ask if you're homophobic if you don't tell anyone you're homophobic."  I'd rather have dedicated soldiers, gay or straight, who can overcome their own prejudices in the name of protecting their country in our armed services.  Anyone who would prioritize freaking out over having to line up next to a dude who likes sex with dudes over serving with dedication and honor should not be in the military.

Finally!  I was wondering what happened to this.  Downloading!

Thanks Logan!

All the music is by Wyz!  He PMed me to volunteer for the job and I'm glad he did!

Try the game out and let me know what you think!

That was intentional.  I thought most platformers (even Super Mario Bros unless I'm mistaken) had variable jump heights depending on how long you hold down the jump key.  I can only think of a handful of mostly older platformers off the top of my head that have pre-set jump heights such as Manic Miner.

And actually you'll need that variable jump height to get past some jumps that need high jumps and some that need low jumps (because of overhead spikes).  It probably does make the game harder that way, though!  And yeah, it's a tough game!   :=

Although, I can't say whether or not my implementation is any good!  It felt correct to me, but of course I was the one playing it everyday for a month and never had time for any real outside play testers!

He's got you there, Snarky!

Thanks Saluk!  This game was a learning experience for me, having never programmed a platformer before.  If I ever do one again, I'll try to tone down the "floatiness".  :)

Again, super jealous.  Were any discussions had about next year's location?  I'm going to attend one of these someday...

Yeah, I'm looking forward to yours, Ali!

Voting is open now, so if you feel like you've played enough of the games to choose the (up to) seven best games, you can cast your vote here: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=14293.0

Here's the source code plus some art and map assets for anyone who might find it useful:

Cool!  Have fun!  I still think we need a mittens: Japan.  I'd so go.  I'd even host since I own a (rather large) house in Okinawa.

I kept a travel blog when I first went to Japan.  It's kind of embarrassing to read now.  I've got it archived at http://www.xiigames.com/archive/o2o  Click "Shooting script" to get to the actual blog part.

So tzachs and I managed to finish our entries to this competition.  (Unfortunately Ali didn't quite finish on time, but I'm still looking forward to his!)  There will be voting at some point in the near future, but in the mean time, 67 games were finished for the competition!  So there are a lot of weird, quirky, and fun games to try out!!

Give 'em a look see: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/511152/AGBIC%20page/index.html

Quite an impressive variety.  (And now this thread doesn't really belong in Adventure-related talk and chat any more :P)
