Yeah, so... I got into the Planetside 2 beta earlier, got hooked, and now that the game has been out and released for about a week I've played it for... I don't even know anymore. The hours of the day just disappeared somewhere and then its time to go into work again, then sleep, then videogames. I call it a vicious cycle!

Nevertheless, I've tried to do something productive by depicting the sheer awesomeness of Planetside 2 in writing, so here's a link to the Planetside 2 forums. I'll be updating it with 4 short stories, of which the first one is completed and the second one has been started at the time I post this. Feedback is welcome, as I am also using these stories as means of practicing the english language, grammar etc.

> Drink some water and feel better

You take a gulp of water out of the canteen strapped to your backpack. You mouth no longer feels dry, but try as you might you don't really feel too good. Might be that you are still just a little sleepy, though.
The canteen is now empty, so you place the empty canteen back in the box with the others.

> Take canteen and tie it to backpack

You take a new canteen and use it to replace the one you just emptied.
To be safe, you pick up another one and strap it to your rucksack as well.
You are now at the limit of your carrying capacity, any more and you will become overburdened.

Sorry guys,

I've been playing TONS of Planetside 2 for the last week and just haven't had time to do much else.
I'll try to post an update tonight to keep Afrika Korps alive.

> Search crates

You check out the crates underneath the makeshift altar, and move the candles and the crusifix onto the table to make more room.
You find that the crates are full of dried foodstuffs and canned food. One of them also contains several canteens full of water.

> Take bible

You stuff the bible into your rucksack, which is getting rather full.
You would be hard-pressed to fit another book, or similiar sized item, in there.

> Appropriate crucifix

You do not need to use the word "appropriate" in this game.

> Search for matches

You EXAMINE your immediate surroundings for matches or other firemaking tools. However, you cannot find any firemaking tools or matches anywhere around you.
Perhaps you should be more specific?

> Also pick up candle

You pick one of the less used candles and stuff it down your pocket.

> Use ashes from fireplace as warpaint on face

You open the field stove and grab some ashes from its fireplace, which you then smear onto your face to create a nigh-camouflage.
The stove contains nothing, save for a few unburnt lumps of black coal.

> Examine book

You take a look at the well-worn bible on the table. The book's cover is frayed and the corners have been rounded by the constant wear of reading.
You open the bible and flick through some pages to see if anything catches your attention. One of the pages appears crumpled in an odd fashion, so you decided to examine it closer.

You realize that some words on the page have been partially blotted out by bloody smears and fingerprints. You try to discern what the page reads:

Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my
flesh- -l, but I could not discern
the form ther- -image was before mine eyes, there
was silence, and- -hall
mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more
pure than his maker?

> Go to Tent IV

You walk outside of tent III and head to the tent propped up right next to it. You enter tent IV, the mess tent.
The mess tent is void of life. The only things apparently visible are dirty dishes in the dishwashing pan underneat the table, some canned food under the other table, and the field chaplain's bible and crusifix atop the table. The weapon rack near the door is empty and there is no fire in the stove. Some mostly burn-out candles are also strewn about the tables.

I'll be arriving in the UK on monday, will spend the week visiting the many museums of London. Probably will spend most of Friday in a museum or other attraction as well, but most of these close at 1800, so after that I would gladly meet up with someone! :)

EDIT: if you are around, have time to spare and are interested in any of the following on the week prior to AdventureX, let me know!
> Imperial war Museum
> British Museum
> Natural History Museum
> Science Museum
> HM Tower of London

> Pickup couple of SHELL CASINGS

You snatch a handful of shell casings from the sand near the tent and place them in your pocket.
You wonder how the spent shells got there, as there have been no shooting incidents in the camp for as long as you've been stationed here, and you do not recall hearing any shooting last night. You'd think you'd woken up to the sound of gunfire so close to where you were sleeping.

I'd appreciate it if you can both come dressed as your avatars so that I can recognise you.

I'll see what I can do.

Plane tickets booked, it's official!

> Examine the shredded flaps

You examine the shredded tent flap.
The cloth has been torn in several places, as if someone or something was trying to force it's way in our out, but didn't quite know how to open the tent flap.

As you closely examine the shreds of cloth on the sand next to the tent, you catch glimpses of brass down in the sand. It appears there are several SHELL CASINGS of both rifle and pistol caliber, almost completely covered up by the shifting sand near this tent.

> Go to the tent III

You decide there is nothing left to do in the command tent, so you decide to head out and check the other tents.
You exit the command tent, emerging in the scorching midday sun of the desert.

You move EAST, towards the two other tents. As you approach the archaeology tent, you realize it looks damaged, as if the tent flaps have been shredded somehow.

You step inside the archaeology tent. There are several crates stacked around the tent, mostly containing valuable artefacts, stone tablets and other objects recovered from the dig. Some of the stone tablets that were being examined yesterday are still on the table.

...I'm pretty sure WHAM will make us use it sometime.

Oi! I will not make you guys do anything in this game!
Also, it is starting to look to me that updating every 2 days instead of daily might be a better idea, allowing players to talk about their ideas and upvote the actions they approve of. Besides, not everyone has time to check the forums several times a day to stay up to date.

I will post the next action tomorrow! So far I am liking the player input, a lot of good imagination and ideas are coming up from you guys and with a game like this you never know...

> Take lamp

After much consideration you pick up the lamp. It will not fit in your rucksack and if you would light it it would also pose a fire hazard, so you hold it in your hand.

Hooray! I'll start making preparations! I'll need to make sure I have the free time, and I need to book plain tickets, and I need to ensure I have a place to sleep and... *hassle hassle hassle*

> Search crates.

Having used and maintained the radio in the past few weeks, you know perfectly well that the crate underneath the field radio contains several spare batteries and other assorted spare parts, as well as some cable that can be used to extend the antenna to get better reception.

You open the second crate, underneath the table, and discover an OLYMPIA -brand typewriter, along with assorted ink ribbons and several stacks of paper, some blank, others with prepared fields for entry of reports and requisitions.

> Remove the rank from the hat and pocket it for later.

You check the field cap for ranking insignia, but find none attached.
The only bit that stands out is the non-decorated pair of buttons on the front.

You examine the cap closer, and discover it is a completely ordinary field cap issued to officers, vehicle crews and some infantry as well. As a matter of fact, you recall having a very similiar cap at one point yourself. You think you managed to lose it somewhere on the ship as you were being shipped out of Italy.

It's still a pretty nice cap, though.

Once I hear how much my car's maintenance will cost, I might be able to shell out another 50$. Let's make this happen, I wanna visit the UK!
