You carefully fondle and caress the door. It doesn't feel especially cold or wet, and the sound of rushing water seems to be coming from a good distance away. You're pretty sure opening this door will NOT lead to instant and gruesome death.

You squint your eyes and give the room you are in a good look over. The walls are empty and clean, and there aren't any immediate signs of danger. There are two white doors, one to your right and one to your left. Behind you is the elevator shaft from which you came from.

You prick your ears and...
*SCREECH*
You: "AAAAUUUUUGH!"

Your headset, which you had almost forgotten was still on your ear, emits a loud screeching noise into your ear. The noise is followed bu bursts of static, in the midst of which you can just make out fragmets of sentences:
"...ding in the green facility, no sign of... ...ple in the tram tunnel are in nee... ...dome status is... ...immediate evacuation, I repea..."
The transmission fades into static and the volume fades away. Either the device is running low on batteries or there is some sort of interference in here.

Wheeee! Design doc is 8 pages long and I drew this mock-up to act as basis for further developement.

Wonderful theme! I've already got a few ideas in mind, so I might just try to participate after a long break (10 months? Really!?)
Will keep you guys posted once if / when I get into developement phase.

EDIT: Just had a "Eureka" moment! TO THE DRAWING BOARD!
EDIT 2: Five pages of text in the design document now! If anyone is up for some cutscene art (220x120 or larger still images, no style set yet), let me know! Also: if you are interested in making music for the game, let me know of that as well!

Looks really nice, especially since this looks to be your first game. Way better looking than mine was!  ;)
Especially love that portrait of her, she's cuddly cute!

My main suggestion: download a different font. For example, www.dafont.com has a bunch of fonts that are suitable for AGS use with very little tinkering and just changing the default font gives a game a lot cleaner look.

New chapter, new format. I've decided to simplify the rooms so that they no longer have a perspective. This will gretly reduce the workload on me and make updating the game less of a chore, as I originally only intended the graphics as a mere way to enhance the atmosphere of the game, while most of the action and events were just written text. Hopy you guys don't hate the change. Anyways, this game might be in it's last chapter, or it might be on the verge of a new beginning! Choose wisely and be aware of past events! Oh, and thanks for playing for so long! It's hard to believe I started this back in august! Some statistics: so far I've drawn 209 screens, and it seems that all those screens take up about 2,4 megabytes of space. We also just passed the 500 post mark in this thread. :D

Phew! The ladder seemed to go on forever but now it finally seems to have ended! You have no idea how far you've come, but your arms ache from all that climbing. For a moment you thought you'd have to ditch the trusty pool que, but fortunately you have managed to hang on to it. You find yourself in a short corridor with an entrance to the elevator shaft in the middle and two doors on each end. You're not entirely sure how, but for some reason it doesn't feel quite so dark up here. However, there is a distinct sound of rushing water coming from the door on your left (labelled: "D-Walkway"). This cases you to feel a little bit uneasy.

Well, new place to explore and still no idea what you're supposed to be doing. Judging by the fact that the electric lights are off, there doesn't seem to be any power here either.

@Progz: I think the idea of the difference of characters between ME2 and ME2 was that for Shepard, things were going downhill and where in the first game you could hire friends, heroes, and overall good guys, in the second game you no longer had such a sweet situation and instead had to contend with the scum, the criminals and the psychopats, and still manage to put together a team that can save the universe. In my mind that's a pretty good arc and I can't wait to see what they do in the third game. :)

Absolutely not! I love making decisions and seeing their consequenses, good or bad. Now that I think about it I also think Garrus might have died, but I'm not entirely sure about that one. I'll have to see what happens when I load up ME3. If I make a bad call in an earlier game, I will have to deal with it. For example:

I was the only one of my friends who allowed the Rachni Queen live in ME1. In ME2 I got hints that they are now free and rebuilding their empire. Perhaps I will see them attack humans once more and pay the consequences? Perhaps they will side with me in the final battle? It is a decision I made and it has the potential to change everything.

Main point of these games for me is not being able to see everything, but to see what kind of story these games make FOR ME, from MY decisions. I never replay, as doing so would tarnish the unique feeling of adventure and dread as I will never know what a decision means for me or what the possible other outcomes might have been. Did I do good? Bad?

I love to roleplay in Mass Effect. I never liked Miranda so I never did her side mission. I prioritized by what felt realistic and urgent, and thus skipped a lot of optional stuff as "unimportant for the mission". As a result, my world is far from perfect, and I love it that way.  ;)

Don't blame if it doesn't work or nuffink, I'm just repeating what she told me.

I never replay a good story, the choises I made were mine and I must face the consequences.

I also have no idea about "curing her cold". I don't remember her catching anything during my game, I just put her in a bad position just before the final battle and she got shot and killed. A hero's death for her, and one for Legion too. It was a glorious but bittersweet ending for me, and I cannot wait to see how the third game shapes up now!
