I was hoping to record certain information into the save game header.
I wanted to see if I could create a customized save/load GUI again, and thought I'd do the following:

Create a string, then append the data, such as current date, time, and some gameplay values, which are stored as "int" -values.

Then I realized: there are several ways in the manual to convert string into almost anything, but an int value can only be converted into a float as far as I can tell.

Is there even a way to do something like this (this obviously does not work):
Code: ags

string taa = "Month %d:%d Day - Clock: %d:%d", dt.Month, dt.DayOfMonth, globalhours, globalminutes;

or maybe something like:
Code: ags

string poo = convertinttostring(dt.Month);
string taa = append.taa(poo);

EDIT: Never, bloody, mind! It happened again: I ask, and two minutes later I stumble on the answer by accident and realize I had used the wrong search parameters in the manual.

The answer: String.Format

The game divides into chapters whenever it is required. For instance, in this case the chapter ends because otherwise you fools would just get our nameless protagonist KILLED in the FIRST CHAPTER of the game!

I'll get on with brainstorming chapter two tonight and will return in a day or two with new posts in this thread. Thanks for playing so far folks!

> Press arms and legs at the walls to slow down falling

That actually sounds like a good idea. Slowing down your descent make the landing far safer!
You begin to extend your limbs...

Hang on, there were supposed to be walls over there!

I'm not sure how much anyone has ever planned these games. I don't really have a design documentation, save for a small .txt file in which I have a few key notes on the story and events of the game for future reference. Otherwise I draw backgrounds and poses as they are encountered and try to keep up with your ideas.  :D
To me this is mostly improv practise!

Good to hear you like it! I was worried the oversimplistic copy/paste graphics would turn people off compared to the hand-drawn always-original look of Stranded. I've always been a huge fan of "mspaintadventures" and I try to draw some inspiration from there.

No saves, no loads. If you die, you die and the story ends accordingly.
The I'll probably come up with another one if people enjoyed this one.  ;)

I'll post the next steps later tonight when I get home from work.

If Ghost ever wants to release a voiced version, I would be more than happy to do the voices for the ghost with the glasses aka. Ted.  Maybe the truck driver too, but definitely NOT Janet. Oh no, no, no, no, no!  ;D

Let me see:

The people are revolting because the police are too brutal and the budget cuts are hitting the poor.
They riot, which will eventually force the police to act even more brutally.
The riots break public property, which has to be repaired and the repair funds come out of tax money, which in turn will cause the budget to suffer.

Result: either no effect or negative effect in police attitudes, even worse financial situation likely to force government to even more budget cuts, which will hit the poor.

Wait the piss in your own cereal!

EDIT: Rubber bullets are now ready and authorized! Only 4 days too late! ;D

> Drop yourself down the shaft. Feet first.

Atta boy!
You twist and turn and drop down, legs first.
"GERONIMO!"

Who are you?
Who'se ID are you wearing?
Where are you?
What is your critically important mission?
What the heck is going on in here!?

> Try to crawl across opened shaft and see whats on the other side....

No chance. The gap is too wide to get across in such a narrow space, especially in your poor condition.
Looks like there is only one thing to do...

> Crawl closer to the shaft and examine the plate that is attached to the left wall

Its a metal panel, locked in place with screws. On it is some text about coolant units. You have no idea what this is all about... You wish you did, though!

> Smash pane of glass with butt of gun and press red button.

You grab the gun and smash its butt through the glass, pressing the big red button within. With a series of pops the four metal bolts holding the hatch in place are detatched and the hatch falls down below.

You hear a loud splashing noise, as well as mechanical humming of heavy machinery, from below.

Shooting at religious fanatics and those with true ideals will just create martyrs and people's heroes.
Shooting at thugs and criminals, I doubt will affect much more than said thugs and those who are like them. Thus we can identify them and act on this knowledge, forcefully.

Also: Community service is fine, jail time is not. These people need to be put into the service of the community, whereas if we put them in prison, the community will pay, thorugh taxes, for them to get dressed, fed and taken care of for long time, while getting nothing back at all.

Saying they lose their citizenship when they go out to riot is just right. No citizenship, no rights. Service guarantees citizenship!

When a peaceful protest turns violent, the truly peaceful protesters, if they have a brain cell between them, will leave the area when the police arrive.
Thus all thats left on the streets are the hoodlums and anarchists. I say "if they don't follow orders, shoot a few, see if they learn a lesson".

All we get rid of is the hooligans and criminals and those stupid anough not to lie down on the ground when told to do so by  the police.

2. Authorize rubber bullets
3. Watch, realize its not nearly enough
4. Bring in helicopters
5. Authorize lethal force
6. ?????
7. Profit!

> Hide in the shaft

You leap into the shaft. The glass roof comes crashing down behind you, along with something that looks like steel girders. The way back is now blocked, the only way is forward.

You are in a shaft. There is a hatch on the floor, a red button covered with a glass pane on the wall, and the shaft continues onward quite a bit further than you can see in the dark.

Oh, damn! I hadn't realized those existed (never did read the whole manual).
Thanks a million, Khris! You saved my night!

> Pry grate open with rung

You stick the rung into the gap in the side of the grate and pull with all your might. There is a growing cracking noise from above.

As the metal grate finally pops out of its place, the rung also snaps into half. You pocket the halves, deciding to think about them, and your ruined pants, later.
You see the glass above cracking worse than before. It looks like it's all going to collapse any moment now. You also hear distant rumbling and metallic creaking, as if metal was being strained to the very limits somewhere above you.

-----

>  Frantically kick grating until corroded screws break

You gather all your might to pound the metal grate unto oblivion. You let out a mighty battlecry and send your iron foot towards the hindrance.

Now your toes hurt, but it seems you got the grate to bend a bit, and one of the screws came loose. There is now a small gap near the corner of the grate.

Something hard falls from above and lands on your head, painfully.
