Can we force dbuske to play all Icey games and vice versa?
This would be awesome, though I think the Geneva convention has something on torture...

I already decided on one: a classic way to name a book, movie or game = use the name of the prime location the story takes place in as the name of the game.

But keep the great ideas coming! I was also thinking something on the lines of "0001*// Galactic Quest" might look cool in the database!

I finally, after much deliberation, decided on a final name for the game: "The Rushdie Mansion"
The demo is very much in the works, am hoping to release it next month!

Random generators can be fun and useful if you are starting a new project, but sometimes, as is my case, you already have a project and are just looking for a final name.

I'm thinking of having a small poll or something, to ask people what they think would be the best name from my list of potentials, in the GIP thread.

How would you go about naming your new game?

Where do your ideas come from? What criteria does a potential name have? What makes a name "good"?

Personally: I've been having a bit of a writers block about the matter of naming my next game, so I've been putting a lot of thought into this matter of late. As my brains is slowly melting, I thoguht I'd ask for your opinions, dear forumites. Well now, speak up!

My observations and thoughts so far:
- The name, or at least the core of it, should be short and easy to pronounce (a subtitle is a wholly different matter)
- The name must connect to an event, character, location or concept within the game, in order to make sense

Overall quality is the best way to determine price. It is also the hardest quality to identify by yourself.
I believe the best way might be to ask other people (a test audience of preferrably at least five people) what THEY would be willing to pay for the game. If the response is primarily in the "three bucks to nothing at all" -range, it is best to re-examine the game and think again on whether or not it should even be commercial. If the responses are in the "five bucks or more" category, you should have a good idea on where to go.

In going commercial, the most important thing in my opinion is to have the game properly tested before release. As long as it works right and there are no game-killer bugs on release, you should be pretty well off.

Other than that, make sure the game is fun and you have a playable demo available, so you can gather some extra feedback before release.

Swamped with stuff again and people are returning to work from vacation so work is even more hectic than it used to be. Wont be able to do a translation for a while, but might try to get back to it when I have time. Sorry Hemuuuli!

No dbuske, the link does not work. My guess is that it shows the content only to those who are logged on to a mediafire account (most people dont have an account), or, and this is the silliest case, only your account.

Log out of your mediafire account and click the link to see what we mean, and stop being so grumpy.

WHAM: Your Let's Play was very entertaining to watch. Voice acting made game much more vibrant.

I got desperate too when you were trying to solve zombie puzzle.
And by the way, the zombie is she not he. :3

She looked more like a "he", although the art did hint toward zombified boobies under the shirt. Oh well, maybe it was a bit of both, or maybe I'm just twisted!  ;)

I did think of that too. Might look into it if Hemuuuuuli is interested.

Will play later, probably during weekend.
Also, if Hemuuuli doesn't mind, I'll record the playthrough for youtube and comment it in english so maybe some people who cannot understand the language can get in on the dialogue too. I'll see what i can do. Will post link in this thread when I get to it.

I've got an idea on how to do this. Will have to see about implementing it in the next build to see how it works, so I can incorporate it in the demo and hear what people think about it.

Every saturday is cooking day. 6 days a week = cheap crap, such as pea soup, noodles and such. On saturdays, its two hours time for cooking and preparation only!
