You need to exit the medbay through the door that is currently locked

Hint 2

The door is locked by someone and required a DNA verification from the person who locked it to open

Hint 3 - full solution

Examine the door and the lock...

Then go to the morgue and find the sidecutters from one of the lockers...

and then clip off the finger of Dr Bruckhardt, who is in the morgue. Use this on the locked door.

The squint coms from the eyebrow shape. I don't have time to do a paintover right now, but slight changes in those could do the trick.

The size of the eyes and the pupils is a very difficult one.
In the first version he stares directly into your sould (likely pondering matters of violent rape), in Calin's edit he's staring at your genitals (and is not too happy about what he sees) and in the new edit he seems to have spotted a silly-shaped cloud up there somewhere.

I'd try to make the eye whites only 1 px tall and work from there. Another option is to make the eyes decisively bigger (see "anime eyes") which allows for more detail but changes the style dramatically, and perhaps not for the better.

Awwwww, crud! Oh well, I lost to the best... Wait, what is THAT thing doing with 5 votes!? :o

Oh well, this was a HUGE MAGS and a deserving win to hedgefield. I have to admit that 15 had the best implementation of the theme. Good job!  :)

Just wanted to show you guys what I've done with the sprites so far:

Going to try to do front and back tomorrow. Left is pretty much just a mirrored right with the wristband removed, and the shirt logo slightly changed.

Cover works as is mentioned in the readme file. In "craters, trenches or behind solid objects".
Basically taking cover lowers your chance of being hit by the shrapnel, but is not 100% sure.

Since everyone is complaining about the intro, I need to find out: are we talking about the few lines of dialogue when the game characters become visible, or the whole intro with the commander's speech and tactical displays etc, which is shown before the main menu becomes visible. This first into CAN be skipped with ESC. The few lines of dialog in the beginning should only take precisely 27 seconds and should not make the game unplayable on repeated runs.

@ Ouxxey
There should be a sound of artillery shells falling down on you to warn you of the explosions, which are in fact artillery fire landing around you. The mines have the same explosion animation, but I'm sure you've noticed those.  :)

Holy heck. You've got this in just a few weeks? I salute you!
The graphics are pretty, the story sounds pretty good... Overall, this could be pretty darn great.

If you get near the finish and realize you're running out of time, PLEASE don't rush the game just to meet an arbitrary deadline. I did that, it isn't pretty!

Your pace never ceases to amaze me. And the screenshots look great!

It may have just become a running joke. We'll have to see...

Usually, yes. Not in this one, though. Our little lady doesn't want to give men that excuse to stare at her -ehm- titties, so she selects her shirt appropriately.  ;)

Did a new edit:

Old
New

Changed the stance a bit, tweaked her length. Basically just ripped off Mad's edit with slight changes.
Simplified the wrinkles and shading of her pants to make her easier to animate cleanly.
Changed the logo on the shirt. Gave her green eyes.
Adjusted the old side views to better fit the new front view.

Opinions? Is she pretty enough to start animating?

I'll take a look at her face portrait later today.

Just wanted to post once more: Awesome material, as always! I'll definitely be able to use a lot of the stuff shown here to create a final edit of her. Can't wait to get home from work (about 2 hours)!

I think I can use Mad's latest edits in some of her animations, so I think your effort will not go to waste in this project.

Looking back to analyze my first attempt: I think my biggest mistake was making her face about 5 pixels wide instead of 6 like in everyone else's edits, and making her legs and body too symmetrical, making her look stiff and straight, and making her legs hard to get to align nicely.

@Mad

That actually looks very nice, although it gives the character a bit of a chubby look, whereas I was aiming for a slender and fairly tall girl. I will make another edit and try to change the arms and legs a bit more, as well as try to incorporate your style for shading the breasts, which is far superior to my original. Your face has also given me some ideas, which I will try to incorporate as well.

Now that I see Flibble's edit, I have to agree that the eye whites make her look too scared, and that the shadow eyes work better. I also think the shirt looks a little nicer, as now that I look at it with fresher eyes, my version seems to be holding her hands in front of her.

The fairly heavyhanded shading makes her look older in my opinion, so I'll probably decrease that a bit, or at least fiddle around with it.
I'm at work now, but I'll try to get a new edit out some time this evening, along with an edited shirt symbol.

Added a portrait of her face. She is supposed to be around 19 years old, and should have a fairly neutral look on her face.

Clever, Progz, very clever.

Perhaps it is time for us all to reveal our colours.
