Just bought this from Indievania - http://www.indievania.com/games/metal-dead - but it's downloading as a 1[1] file (whatever that is   ???), so Windows doesn't recognise it.  I can't even unzip it or open it.   :(

How do I make this work in Windows?

That's really odd. Check your private messages.

By the way, The Journey Down was a big inspiration for us. Absolutely gorgeous game you have there.

Sorry to hear about the setup problems. :(
The game should be installed in the Desura folder just like Steam. So if you head to where ever you installed Desura:

Desura > Common > Metal Dead

The winsetup file should be in there and you should be able to change the settings or even run the game straight from the exe if you so desire.
Hope that helps you out. If you have any other problems pm me anytime.

heya, it is october 2011 :D

Unfortunately we've been delayed until November due to Australian censorship classification woes. They don't make it easy for indies here since they charge the same amount of money to classify a small game as they do for big budget full-price titles.

Metal Dead is essentially ready for release though!

Hey its Robert (design/art/code)

I can see how alot of people are getting over the whole zombie thing but Liam (design/script) and I always wanted to play a full length zombie point and click adventure, so we thought, why not make one!  ;D

I played a little bit of Brutal Legend. Loved the themes and style of the game but I thought some of the gameplay was a little lackluster. Overall it was nice to see a metal themed game.

On a side note for the metalheads amongst you I've been spending my long hours of coding listening to "In Mourning" and "Istapp". Brilliant bands!  ;)

Are you interested by a french translation for Metal Dead ? It will be great for european countries.

Once we've released the game, we'll consider translating and we'll keep your offer in mind, thank you!

As a fan of heavy metal, I am interested in this game. Although I think zombies are overdone. What do you guys think of Brütal Legend? It is Jack Black's heavy metal game for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I agree that zombies have been overdone in the gaming world, but when we started this project, there were no significant point and click adventures that featured them. We put our own twist on zombies though, so they're a little different to their appearances in other media, as you'll find by playing the game. ;)

As for Brutal Legend, I played it, finished it and liked it. A nice mix of comedy/fantasy and heavy metal.

Edit: Both of us posted at the same time. Creepy.

Time for an update!

The game is almost ready for release, and should be out by October 2011!

Added a trailer to the original post, along with the website, facebook and twitter.

We'll be showing the game off at Emulator Art in our hometown of Brisbane, Australia, so on the off chance that there's some fellow Brisbanites reading this, come along and say hello!
