Once I've got my new lappy, and a few life things sorted, I'll have a look at this.
Although, for the moment I'll have to be using the express edition, any news as to whether it works?

Yeah, Peder's got it right!
most of those older games beat the socks off anything I've played on an XBox or PS3.

The Dexter of the book was better.

I might be happy to do some AGS coding, since it's been a while...
Depends on how much, tho, as I'm working on a 2D physics engine.

I confess, I cant stand non-code programming, like that in Game Maker, it always seems so limiting and irritating at the same time.  :-\

Thanks for all the links and tips so far guys, I'm sure they'll come in handy.
Yeah, sorry for not saying what platform/os the new lappy is: Windows 7 home premium.
One thing I have found that I really enjoy about 7 is that it does seem to organise things much better, with the new windows explorer being quite neat.
Unfortunately, it only comes with MS Office Starter 2010, which only has dumbed-down versions of excel and word, so I'll have to buy OneNote on the side...unless one of you chaps knows a free alternative?

Good to see you've got good grammar and spelling, too!  :P

With the arrival of my new Laptop computer imminent, I have been putting some thought to what software I should install on it in the early stages, before everything gets cluttered. Any good ideas?
Also, on the subject of cluttered computers, I would specifically like to find organising solutions, since my last attempt at keeping things all neat-and-tidy was rather terrible.  :P
Only free software, of course.

General Discussion / Re: Maths Adventure Game

AGS is by far, imo, the best free(and perhaps even non-free) adventure game engine.
There are some issues and limitations, but the bright sparks in the community have found ways around most of them.

Sounds like a good idea, btw, an adventure game'd sure beat the socks off of the educational games I used to play.  :P

Or better, the dialogue in this one seems to let it down a little...

Markbilly, I think the problem is that the velocity of the arms and the twist of the torso reverses direction to quickly.

Happy Birthday Xenogia!
I didn't get time to make that game for you, but I can give you some happy info: Both Weird Al Yankovic and Michael Crichton (the creator of Jurassic Park) share your birthday!
Have a good one! ;)

Even though I agree with Calin that this is purely academical, I would pay for it, despite very limited funds, as I believe this is a project that is worth supporting wherever it may go.

I play this over and over till my fingers hurt while I'm thinking.
This and the Alla Turca.

Baron and ProgZ, you have it down!
Also, even though you say that some of those proposed panels are jokes, I could see them all being useful, especially since AGS has suck a strong, close-knit family-like community.
Even the ones like the Death panel would be great! For example: has anyone seen JimReed in a while? he used to be very active, and then he suddenly disappeared...
