julie,
Spoiler
To get the music from the wire just walk onto the wire then guide Quaver carefully with the mouse. When over the music just click the mouse. Have you solved the Lava puzzle by the hanged man?

Talk to the flower and write down the tune she sings. Then goto Piano cave and move the notes to match the tune. (interact upper half of notes to raise, lower half to lower). Then interact with the piano keyboard and the manuscript should appear by the flower in the vase.

monkey_05_06,
Because of the auto wrap on long strings can produce many different widths depending on how the words line up. Just because you ask for a width of say 100, only means the text will not be more than 100 wide, could be anything less than 100. My GetTextWidth(string Text, int Font, int Width), calculates the length of each line of wrapped text and returns the greatest.

Coincidently I was trying to do this today and eventually did it with 2 GUIS. One GUI with just the Text in a label, second GUI with 9 buttons which immitates the Text Window GUI.
Use button.ClipGraphic with extra large sprites to give effectivly scaleable sprites for the edges and centre.
Had to write a GetTextWidth(string Text, int Font, int Width) function which AGS lacks.

Anyway works fine... and you can have a free drop shadow effect.

I reckon that could be made to look chalky, so yeah fine, imo.
I suppose the idea is an outlined type character, or plain old stickman stuff.

Well I suppose if you consider what street artists can do with chalk then anything goes. I think the rule about using a chalk character is quite definate. Though you could maybe do a coloured in chalk figure if you want to fill out the image a bit. But you'd just be making more work for yourself with the animations. But a low detailed drawing of a chalk figure is fine. Maybe post a picture of your idea for a yeah/nay vote ?

Completed Game Announcements / MAGSIC II

Well after enjoying writing Magsic so much I thought I'd make a sequel....

Plot:
After sailing away with Ear in Magsic a fierce storm separates the odd couple. Help Quaver find his way back to Ear by collecting 9 magical tunes, getting the inhabitants of the desert island to 'sing' the tunes for him. Sounds strange, well it is.

You can cross the quicksand by examining the 'path to the beach' this also works on the crocodile crossing but they still get you. Should I be able to use seaweed on net?

Yes it works if you have the pointer cursor, but if you have right clicked once , you cannot get back to the pointer cursor and are stuck.

It seems to crash when I look at the japanese symbols, there was no exit, then if I subsequently looked at japanese symbols in inventory while looking at the symbols the character appears and you can't move.

Hi, just completed the Beta version, no bugs found (just remembered is 'pressence' a word?). Nice idea, well crafted also, reminded me of some flash games. Only one gripe, put a confirm on the 'EXIT', no load/save is bad enough but an accidental EXIT click and it's all over.

Zirconius,
No that's not the right way, might cause problems later, I've fixed this but prob best if you try and do it 'right'.

MAGSIC

Help Quaver solve numerous puzzles as he travels through van Gogh's discarded ear into a surreal world where music is the only language and the key to finding true love.

This is my MAGS entry where the rule was to have no dialog or speech. Instead the game uses music and revolves around Quaver collecting different musical themes and finding obscure ways to 'record' them.
