This the most exciting MAGS in ages (for me). I'm really excited what you guys come up with.
#1242
Before I camp at the bus station, I'll consider a taxi ;)
#1243
Okay, to keep it short:
I couldn't loose the feeling that more and more replies have quite a sarcastic undertone.
That can't be good. Either way it smell like frustration and I found it was time for a reminder that we all do this for fun.

Don't get me wrong, I very much appreciate all the time you invest on helping beginners and intermediates. I'd never have the patience.

QuoteIt's just that with this guy there's no curve at all, there's just stagnation
Nah... just compare the first "games" he made. There is a definite learning progress.

QuoteThe methods or advice are never, ever, ever used at a later point in time, let alone for something remotely similar to transfer.
Terribly true

It's just that this particular guy seems to ruin it for anyone else.

QuoteWhat are we supposed to do?
Thats the 1.000.000 $ question. Ban? Ignore? Being degraded as online help? Blow up every single icey thread? I'm afraid there isn't an easy answer.
When he first joined, I thought his membership would only last a few weeks. Especially when he joined the wintermute forums. But I guess this is last board on the interwebs, where he isn't been ignored and actually helped.

Still this isn't the worst icey thread yet ;)

@Monkey + Khris: I know, you guys are the No.1 trouble shooters here and I know that it is very frustrating that some people have a shallow learning curve.
But this slowly turns into a beginners bashing board :(

Okay, I'm no help either, but there has to be another way to cope with exasperation.

When I first spotted this, I thought: Finally, somebody redid the Infocom version :P
But your game was fun too :)

Edit: Forgot to mention that I liked the animation work as well. And finally, a convincing reason to be trapped in a room. Well done!
#1247
Oh, I've just spotted, that I'm not on the post-mittens list. Since nothing is booked yet: I'd like to attend too :)

-edit: Just booked the flight! Wooo :D

--edit2:
connection woes
Oh noes, I'll arrive at 17:55 pm at Dublin Airport. Too bad that this is too late for the train to Rosslaire Strand.

I've already discovered a bus, which brings me to Wexford at around 22:00 pm, but then I'm stuck.

Anyone else travels that late? Or does anyone has a car at Rosslaire and could pick me up?
#1248
Well, congrats on finishing. I suppose I know which direction you're heading to, but you're still miles away. Instead on wasting time on the 3D effect you should have put more effort into the "game" itself.

Oh well, at least your graphics are alright ;)

#1249
Very nice - everything I'd need for spriting is in there and the ramp feature in the palette editor is a great addition.
For backgrounds I'd still miss gradient fills and the ability to draw straight lines by holding the shift key. But hey, it's Allegro Sprite Editor, so I'm fine with it.

Although it doesn't convince me to switch from PM, this still looks like the best free animator out there.

#1250
I disagree with you two. That's exactly what I expect from a remake and I always hated the old SCUMM punching engine.

Okay, the jumping height is pretty high and the demo is unplayable on my keyboard (MS Ergonomic 4000), but anyway in the final game this minigame is simply terrific.

PS. please consider configurable keys ;)
#1251
QuoteI'll upload the latest build i have when i get home from work
Cool, thanks!
#1252
yeah, and all this for the sake of portability. The Grafx2 GUI feels even more outdated and even shares all the drawbacks from DPaint 2 (like the floodfill being blocked by the GUI, so you can't easily fill the whole screen at once).

Do you know if ASE already has grid with 45° angles? Or even better - if you have a recent Windows build, I'd be happy to check it myself :)
#1253
The only thing that keeps me away from ASE is its GUI and the fact that I already bought ProMotion :)

Happy Birthday Poc301!
Finally a birthday I didn't miss ;)

In case you don't want to make these edits, here's mine:

Of course Khris' edits are working too :)

This is a list of all recent and stable spriting tools I've been able to find. Of course there are countless raster based image editors, but only a few focus on spriting and/or pixelation.
So here it is:

@InC: sorry, no Art Gem ;)
#1257
just amazing... who would have imagined that back in 99 :D

Too bad I won't be able to contribute to the code, but I'll do my best to work on a modern hi-res template.
#1258
I'm using it for ages and it still works in 3.2.1. Although I'm not sure if I had to adjust a few things.

That brickwork is just fantastic.  Would love to see a tutorial or something if you haven't done one already :)

Thank you, Stupot! If you can find a few others to join the choir I'll certainly do so. :)
* abstauber joins the choir

There can't be enough informations about low-res art :)
#1260
I'll set the flight back to the 28th, so I should make it to Dublin too.
* abstauber should remind himself that flights aren't getting any cheaper the longer he waits. ;)
