Regarding the multi-platform abilities: I'm using the joystick plugin by Wyz, which isn't opensourced (yet?).
Are there any macros I can use to hide it from the linux build?

Apart from that my project still compiles and works fine.

edit: another minor thing: Since you are working on the compiler.. could you do something against the warnings.log please (Dynamic sprites were never deleted because I had no chance ) ?
That would be a wonderful improvement :)

Is that an early AGS game? Maybe something from Captain Mostly?

I gave it a quick shot and my game still works totally fine. Even better, everything appears a lot smoother with the nearest neighbor filter (nod)
Great version so far.

General Discussion / Re: Character Portraits
Thu 16/10/2014 07:41:08
Back in the days, I wasn't too happy when Sierra started to include portraits in post AGI games. It broke the immersion and people never looked like I imagined them from the sprites. Lucasfilm Games on the other hand added some gestures and poses to spice up their dialogs. But since AGS cannot do this without hassle (a second character just as the head), portraits are a convenient way to express emotions and character details.

But like Barbar I don't like when the style changes. So if you have a hand drawn character, I expect at least the same palette is used for the portraits :)

Btw. perfect usage of portraits:

You are right, but since the manual is also included inside the template itself I got a little lazy ;)

I've just uploaded a add-on package including the gui graphics and the manual.

Thanks for the heads up!

Happy Bday, Cat!

It's also not 'unpinned" right to the "Explore Project" pane?

For me, hiding and enabling the pane works fine: AGS Editor .NET (Build 3.3.0.1158)

Cool, thanks for sharing! It's also surprisingly fast. Do you have any plans to speed it up even more via the Lua plugin?

Did I mention that it is such a great relieve to learn that you all got kids? I thought I would need to cancel my account once my daughter arrives and you guys even manage to release games. Fun ones. Without an educational concept.
THANK YOU

Anyway I agree with Miguel: Kids are all different. If they have an affinity for gaming, they will play, no matter at which age they're introduced to the medium. Of course playing games can also be a way to escape real life and real life problems, but that's a different story :)

Oh - and I was introduced at 4 and it kind of alienated me, since no of my kindergarten (and elementary school) friends had a computer or even liked playing games. But I bet now they are all hooked up on Playstation 1234 and get drunk by now :P

Incredible that you (+team) managed to pull off such a polished game in just one month.
Sure, the physics aren't as accurate as Lotus Challenge, but I bet they had more than a year - unthinkable what might happen if you continue working on this 8-0

It looks amazing, has a considerable AI, it's fun to play and the music is great too.
The only thing I'm missing is shifting gears between high and low - but that's nitpicky as hell considering that you guys even hit the deadline for MAGS.

Now excuse me, I need continue the race :D

Well done, sir.
The writing is very intense and your art style perfectly sets the mood for this game. The ending is just beautiful - Hats of to you for coming up with all of these in just 48 hours.

Hehe, I found those pics yesterday while searching for db32 palette examples. And know I've learned to which game they belong.

Downloading (the game this time) ;D

Glad to hear that you like it so far :) Make sure to post your highscore, once you've finished it

Fair enough :)
I think I will try to get something done in Lua first. Once I make enough progress with my project, I'll decide whether to pre-render the effects or to use this lua magic (which I hope to get done until then )

Hey, thanks for the snippet. It really doesn't look all that hard.

Have you managed to compile it for Linux yet?
