Critics' Lounge / Re: Janitor's Room

Well, I don't know if this is of any help but here are some suggestions. To me the lamp looks a little to long. Perhaps you should consider shortening it a bit? Also you could try adding a stainless-steel sink to the room if there is space for it. Otherwise than what's been said already it looks good. Just work on it a little and you will have a nice room. ;)

Yes, I too encountered the same bug as described by Paolo and an additional one which occured when
Spoiler
I looked at the spiked drink (after having mixed it with gin.)
[close]
For that it gave the following error message:

in Global script (line 31)
from Global script (line 130)
from Global script (line 544)

Error: GetInvName: invalid inventory item specified.

Apart from these bugs, the game was quite nice.

I agree, it looks very good. Only flaw i can of is that the hands look a tad to big for a girl. (unless your intention is to give her big hands of course ;).)
By the way, this sprite reminds me a lot of Nico from Broken Sword. Played it recently?

Hiya everyone!

I drew this demon-knight a while ago for fun. Please tell me what you think

I agree that combat, if implemented properly, can add a refreshing and tense experience for players. It,s all down to commom sense really if you are going to have combat or arcade sequences in an AG really. For example, if you are making a murder\mystery game featuring miss Marple, would it then make sense to let her solve the problems by entering a combat-mode with all the suspects where she wacks them with a walking-cane to get a confession out of them? I think not. On the other hand, if the game takes place in a wild west enviroment, one or two shooting sequences would not seem out of place. And of course you also have to design them so that they are actually fun to play and not just causing the player to chuck the monitor through the window after a few attempts. ;)

I think the character blends in well with 320*200 resolution. This looks good! :) Go for it i,d say.

It looks wery proffesional, just like an old commersial RPG. I,ll make sure to play this when it,s released. Oh, by the way, I love that last screenshoot with the landscape made of flesh and tissue. Wonderfully bizarre! :D. Good luck with this game. ;)

I like it. Look,s like a mix between an elephant and a vacum-cleaner. It,s an interesting concept for a main-character.

He looks quite good, even though his feet look a little strange and his hair looks like a cap. Also his pose reminds of that of a cowboy ready on the draw ;). But other than that it,s fine.

I think the sprite looks very decent except for the shadows. Avoid net-patterns and color the whole shoadowed area instead. Also, he doesn,t strike me as very old. Make his hair more gray and put some wrinkles on his face if there is place for it. You could also color his nose with a more darker color to make it more visible.

Well, since a few months back I,m working on my very first game. I am first and foremost inclined to actually get it finished rather than making it a great game so don,t anticipate to much for it, even though i will try to do my best.
The story, as the name implies is about an assasin, which is tasked to "fix" a castle-lord. It,s going to be a humorous game with a main-character that isn,t overly competent in what he does. ;) The game is probably going to end up as a medium-length game.

Some screenies:

And some images of the main-character

Story: 99%

Puzzles:99%

Scripting: 0%

Music and Sound: 0%

Graphics: 60%

That,s pretty much all i have to say for now. Progress is quite slow but steady so I,ll uppdate this topic in time.

Cheers!

Edit: THIS GAME IS CANCELLED

Wow, this looks amazing, :D much better graphics than in "Other Worlds". (I have to admit i didn,t finish it because of that typing-quiz, ahem :-[.) This seems like a really ambitious project which I think quite a many people would pay money for (me included.) Good luck on the project. ;)

Well, my favourite AGS-made game has to be "King,s Quest2: Romancing the stones". :D It,s simply a great game in all aspects, beautifull graphics, wonderfull music and sound, good story and wery high-quality voice-acting. (Yes, playing it without the music and speech would basically be playing only half the game.) However, some other favourites would be:

Phleurgburg: (hope i spelled it right) Pretty primitive graphics and somewhat underdeveloped characters but a good story with many good puzzles. Even multiple paths that offer replayibility.

Ben Jordan 3: Simple puzzles but a captivating plot.

Trillby,s Journal: Simply the best horror game made with AGS I,ve played so far. :o Only a pity the puzzles were almost embarrisingly easy.

Well, I,d say this look,s pretty good. Simplistic but nice style and sufficiently detailed and shaded. My biggest complain would be the cracks in the floor which looks more like sticks to me. (The cracks under the machine almost looks like feets, no offence. ;D
Make them smaller and less linear I,d say and use a little brighter color than pitch-black for them.
Also, you could perhaps add some buttons or something to the machine in the corner. (Just a thought.)

I agree.

Heh, i really like this character. He looks great. Good luck with your game. ;)
