#27
lol good sprite but the left arm (his right) is longer than the other arm. lol just a minor change and this could be near perfect i think

p.s- add some shading to the head and/or hair (just a suggestion)
#28
a fat junk food addict type character complete with stretched t-shirt that doesn't fit anymore and a belly that flops over the belt slightly  :P :D

this was all done with under 24 colours i think :P

ok this is my first time releasing something and it's also my first project!  ;D
so here's a screenshot from my game: 'Jonathan Harker in... Mystery In a Bottle' i plan to release a whole line of games (this being the first in the series - obviously :P )

the character will probably be a bit bigger but for now im happy with it untill i'm close to releasing this. it will be a full length game (the walkthrough thingie i've done is 7 pages! :P lol) and will probably be realeased winter 2006/very early 2007 probably latest will be febuary coz it takes me forever to do animations lol (i am doing full animations eg: walking, talking, picking up and other miscellanious ones like shooting a sailor in the butt with a blow dart gun but i wont give too much away  ;) )

This is a good background but that wreck of a crows nest seems odd. it's at an angle but doesn't appear to be leaning on anything. maybe if you added a rock underneath it as if its fallen over hit the rock and broke in two? oh i'd change the colour of the sky too so you have a variety of different colours rather than the same group of colours on the ground as in the sky (if it's sunset, then add some red's and oranges in there)

also the perspective of the hole compared to the cliff isn't right. we shouldn't be able to see down the hole like we do.  so rather than this: O  draw this () but turn it 90 degrees obviously

well i know about time (eg. a note like a 'O' is 4 beats etc) it's just coming up with a tune that i have trouble with but never mind i'll practise and try to get better  :P
#32
well the link works. so it must be your computer. try changing what sound device your computer uses to play MIDI files. this option can be found:
(on win XP) contole panel >> sounds, speech and audio Devices >> Change the sound scheme >> click the 'Audio' tab >> choose an option from the 'MIDI playback devices' scroll down list at the bottom of the page.
#33
lol, im no musician i just randomly place notes and hope i get a tune  :P LOL  ;D this may be good as a backing instrament tho lol
#34
i downloaded a trial version of music masterworks (so i can only use one instrament- grand piano) and just through this together in about 5 maybe 10 minutes

please give me any feed back and/or thoughts you have about it  :)

thanks for the crit but this isn't really a serious concept, this is just a quick drawing, for ppl to judge wheather the style of the character matches the style of the background. i'll take that criticism into account when i start drawing my proper character.  :)
#36
here's a quick concept

what do you think?
#37
no that was for a different game that i've put to one side for now. this isn't the character im using for this game, i just want some ideas about how to create a character to match this background. i posted the char concept so ppl could do paintovers or something, and to give them an idea of the cartoony style i'd like to use.

so... using characters with black outlines on this sort of background

     - Good idea
     - Good idea but needs work
     -Change it
-THATS TERRIBLE FOR THE BACKGROUND!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!? (lol)
#38
ye ok but wat about my character problem?
#39
heres an update. i changed the colours to make them brighter and stonger. what do you think?

i am thinking of putting in some gradients and other shading detail but for now i have exams to revise forÃ,  :P

P.S: what should i do about character style? heres a concept from before i drew this background:

paintovers (or new concepts) welcome. i want this to match the background, but simply getting rid of the black out lines creates detail problems. i really need help on this.

are you going to do an animation for these? i'd really like to see them floating across the screen.
