So, finally something new.
It has been a long time beeing quiet, but the game is still progessing.....
I have to wait for my voice actors to be finish recording the lines and then the game can come.

And here is a small sample of the new Soundtrack, you can download them here.

2 Tracks from the final game:

http://rapidshare.com/files/309778694/teasersq4_5.zip

Hope you like them, and yes, they are very similar with SQ4!

@ Darth:
If I broke the rules with double post, Sorry, can you please combine both posts? THX ;D

by darth - it's not a problem when the posts are months apart!  Thanks for the update!

Alright cool. Very cool. Will this new version contain bug fixes, new puzzles, extended play? :)

Yes, all of the above, I tried to fix all bugs, added some new puzzles and new scenes!

@DLoThuggin

As I stated before, the game itself is finished but the recording and implementing of the voices is still not finished.
The game will be released, but it might take a little more time.

And if anyone is still interested in taking over a small role, I still have 2-3 smaller parts.
Just drop me a mail!

Finally the improved version 2.0 of Space Quest IV.5 is in Beta Status. ;D

I wrote a new soundtrack, made some new backgrounds, improved the dialogues,
created some new puzzles and made a voice pack.

The game itself is finished, but I could need some reliable voice actors.
The main characters and most of the smaller roles are casted, but some are still open.
If you are interested to be a voice actor, please contact me per E-Mal or PM, thanks!

I still use AGS 2.72 because the game I update was progammed in it.
And importing the game into AGS 3.00 was a mess.
So I stayed with AGS 2.72 for that game. My next will use the newest version.

@ GaraceGothic
Thats a good idea, I never tried this!
Thanks!

Yes, for example.

DisplayMessage(500);

Well, that would be a problem, if there is no possibility to get the global messages as voice, I will have to use playsound(500);
But that is not a very satisfying solution....
#107
It might sound stupid, but I have a problem with the global messages.

I want the Narrator to say the global messages. But I don't know, how I can do this?

I already added the MP3 files named as NARR1, NARR2, etc. in the Speech folder. But I get only the text displayed....

Hints & Tips / Re: Quest for Glory 2 VGA
Thu 04/09/2008 14:56:13
First of all, great game, I love Quest for Glory.  And this remake is wonderful. :D
I finished the game as fighter, and I wanted to become a Paladin....

I got 176 Honor points, but that was not enough.
How many Honor points do I need to become a paladin?

@Mirek
Your money change problem. Click with the talk icon on yourself and choose exchange money when you are near Dinarzad (the moneychanger). That should work.

Any chance of a new English version without the typos?

Well if anyone wants to correct the english, yes, why not, I'll provide anyone who is interested with the original Textsource, to make a new english version. Just PM me.

John,

That's probably because you talked to the doctor on deck 5 several times. Your points keep adding up then. I only wrote about it once .. ;-)

With Version 1.100 this bug is fixed.

Great game in terms of puzzles and plot. Sure nice to see these SQ places again. And the dialogues with the narrator were hillarious.
Maybe you can do Leisure Suit Larry 4 next  ;D
My main criticism is about the English, which has gone worst and worst as the game progressed. YOu should have a native English speak proof read all your text next time.

Thanks!

A Larry 4...whoa, that might be difficult, but..... it's a nice idea ;)

Well I had 2 native english speakers for proofreading...The german version will be much better.... ;)

A good game, but some comments:

1-There is nothing at the end to tell you how many points you earned.

2-Part of the fun of the old Space Quest games was that it was so easy to die if you did something stupid, like walking beneath an overhang where monsters lurked, or wandering into the line of sight of a sequel policeman.  Here that isn't the case, and I think the game would have been improved if there were death opportunities.  Three points that come to mind are wandering around on Planet X, Hal's security field, and bothering that intense mechanic on Deck 5.

3-There were two points in the game where the answer to a puzzle was not indicated by a clue.  The bartender who reprograms the crystal, and the starship repair kit underneath the seat that was totally invisible to the eye.  That's not a good design choice.  On a related note, there were too many red herring objects.

4-The spy subplot was too obvious, especially with the note in the Janitor's cart.

5-The ending, where we find out how Roger passed the test to enter Starcon, was hilarious!

So, now I am finally able to answer.
First of all, thanks for the comments

Nr.1 Hmm, right, I forgot to add a "you got xxx points out of xxx" I'll add that in the next version.

Nr.2 I did not like to get killed doing only one wrong step, so I did change that.

Nr.3 There were some hints, if you talk to the bartender he tells you something about the crystals..
And the first aid kit, OK, that is a try and error puzzle, you're right ;)

Nr.4 Yes it is obvious, but isn't that typical for Roger Wilco??

Nr.5 Thank you very much :)

@danooct1

thanx, and I thank you for your help  :D

Seems like no beta tester dragged the rope on the hook. Dragging the hook on the rope works fine.

Exactly.
But all critical bugs have been fixed. I'll upload a new version very soon!

@glory: I cant remember excacly but try to talk to the guard again.

No, thats not it. I have tried that already

As just stated in the help section is this a problem, I encountered sometimes.
If you use in the inventory arrow up 2 or 3 times, the items will appear in the inventory.
If someone knows how to fix this, please pm me!

See the walkthrough here:

http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/space-quest-iv5-roger-wilco-and-the-voyage-home-walkthrough-peter-engel2008/

Does anyone's inventory disappear after the story at the Starcon academy starts?  I have also talked to the security guard at the bar and the key does not show up in my inventory.

That is a problem, I encountered sometimes.
If you use arrow up 2 or 3 times, the items will appear in the inventory.
If someone knows how to fix this, please pm me!

Nostradamus,
....
Which leaves me with the quesions: where's that drain? and where do I get a battery for the keys/how do I get in my ship?
Edit: never mind, I've already found it, now I ran into the bug mentioned earlier (ObjectOff: invalid object specified when combining the rope with the hook.
FYI: ACI ver 2.72.920 is mentioned in the dialog box, in case that's of any help to you) How do I bypass this bug? (I presume some people have, judging by how far they've gotten into the game)

yes sorry, that is a bug that sometimes occur in this version, just try it the other way round, use hook with rope, that should work fine!

You're not getting it. I can't find any download-links: if I choose the Download direct link, I end up on a link-less (apart from advertisements) page of megaupload.com. The page does seem to refer to your game since it contains the following text:
Bestandsnaam: InstallSqIV.5.exe                           Beschrijving: Space Quest IV.5 Full Game
Bestandsgrootte: 63.72 MB

Also, it asks me to fill in my UWV. What's that?

All download links eventually lead to megaupload.com, so I'm effectively stuck. Can't you put it on another hoster?

Fill in the letters and click on download (on the right, next to the field) another window opens and after a few moments, you can click on "free download" and the download will start!

But I will also add a mirror with Release of V1.1

Hey, I'm really interested in this. But I can't download even the tech demo.
Neither the Download link nor the direct download link seem to do it for me.This is a bummer! I wanna trai!

I've got some problems with the megaupload page, but I checked today, they had a bit of a downtime.
It should work now!
Just try it again!
