Hints & Tips / Re: Fun, Sun & Mishaps

Here's a little help...
Spoiler
There are only three colors of lizards..red, blue and yellow.  Each one comes out of a specific hole and you need that color of jellybean to lure out that lizard.   To make orange, you will need a red and a yellow scale.

Here's a few hints in the right direction....

Spoiler
To cut the orange, you'll need the machete, but first you'll need to cross the canyon.
The rum you get from the bartender (make sure you have looked at the close-up of the recipe on the board)
To get the mushroom, you'll need to go down into the canyon.
The orange lizard scale will be after you cross the canyon.
Canyon is to the right of the cave.

I'm glad you liked it...I wanted to try something a little different.  Will take a look at your suggestions...they shouldn't be too difficult to change.

Here's a little hint in the right direction....entering the numbers requires using your keyboard and hitting enter.

Spoiler
You need the correct numbers to input, but first you need to reveal them on the paper on the desk.  Use the pencil on the paper, then
enter them exactly as is written.

If you are still stuck, here are the numbers:

Spoiler
19.8968N goes in Longitude 157.5828W goes in Latitude.

I'm glad everyone's enjoying the game...I love challenging myself in coming up with puzzles not seen before.

I also got a good laugh from the radio reference from Fun, Sun and Mishaps. Billy Idol is awesome! :)
Especially when I got to see him in concert...amazing!!!

Are there really 150 rooms? Does that count every puzzle screen as a room?
Yes, that does take into account the puzzle rooms as well as the walkable ones.

I'm already hard at work figuring out where our dynamic duo will be heading to next....stay tuned.

Mandle, I will check that error out....for some reason, I never thought to try that when testing the game.

Edit: Fixed it.

There was a part in that cut-scene that returned control to the player....just let them continue walking out of the room and not try to escape out of it.

Thanks everyone....I hope you like the new game.

Allyson and Kyle are back and this time they are heading to Paititi, the legendary city of gold.  It is an ancient Incan temple that has been hidden away for centuries among the dense jungles of Peru.  Some claim that this city is nothing more than myth, a figment of an over-active imagination, while others have spent their entire lives searching for it, always coming up empty-handed.  That is, until fate steps in and Allyson finds a letter from one of its holy men claiming to be in possession of two idols necessary to gain entrance.  The temptation is too great to ignore and our treasure hunters are hot on the trail of what could be the biggest find in history.

  • Double-click to transport instantly to new room
  • In-game hint system on puzzles
  • Icon that lets you switch between player characters
  • 150 rooms to explore
  • 6-8 hours of gameplay

I'm glad that you are enjoying the game...here's a little pointer in the right direction....

Spoiler
You need the ladder from where the guy is taking a nap at the huts.

Oops...didn't realize Shadow had already answered.

Ahhh! Thanks Shadow!
Spoiler
I didn't realize I could pick the ladder back up. I agree that there should be a hint about not being able to reach it. That would have definitely sent me in the right direction!

Spoiler
The reason I did not put a hint there was because it was high up on the sign...usually people can't reach signs on stores, so it seemed redundant

Hello..I am using AGS 3.1 and the game I am working on is getting to the testing stage.  At one point, I have a cut-scene where the character walks down the steps and gets a cup of coffee.  But, on one occasion, my character walked in the opposite direction and there is no walkable area there.  I double-checked everything and not only can I not find anything, but could never reproduce the error again.  This also happened one other time and the game crashed.

My question is this...how can you fix an error that you can't find and can't even duplicate??  Is there any such thing as phantom errors or glitches that would make a game crash??  Also, if it happened once, what are the chances of it happening again??

Any insight would be greatly appreciated...Anne

Thank-you Shadow for your great comments regarding the game.  I appreciate all the help you give and I will try to implement those in the next one.

Please help..Having trouble with the GPS.Done the paperwork at the table:grin:

Spoiler
For the GPS, type in the first set of co-ordinates exactly as you got from the paper and hit enter. Make sure you have taken the paper and looked at it in the close-up.  When the first set are correct, it will take you to the next one.

Ah, a new one after The Treasured Medallion :)

...not to mention Echoes of the Past and Tarthenia, both awesome games. The art style is different but looks gorgeous and polished nonetheless. I can't wait to play...

Thanks guys...I appreciate that!!  For the graphic style, I wanted it to be a little more like Runaway, so I decided to make my own graphics via Anime Studio.  It was a little more time consuming than Poser, but it has a better look for what I want, especially after I got the hang of using a 2D program versus a 3D one.

A light-hearted comedy about a girl, an island and a vacation gone wrong. That is, until you meet someone you think has the answer to all your problems. But, is his solution all it's cracked up to be, or is something else going on behind that smile?

Find out as you scour a tropical island in search of a way to salvage your ill-fated vacation. Along the way, you will meet many interesting characters, some of whom, might need a little more convincing than others. But, no matter who or what you encounter, it will always be an adventure in......

So if you're going to have any bad guys, make them matter! Find out how to do that, and they won't feel unnecessary to the story.

I guess that is what it all breaks down to.  If something or someone isn't necessary to the story, in that they don't contribute in some way, then they don't really need to be there.  I think that I was trying to add the evil element because I thought it should be and not because it actually related to the story.

Actually, you can have a story that's just a series of events.

Most of my stories tend to lean towards this type.

Thanks everyone for your input and comments...that helps a lot in trying to put together a decent story.
