The Rumpus Room / *Guess the Movie Title*
Fri 29/07/2011 13:54:59
Don't know if this is done before and don't know
if someone like this but I think it's worth a try...
::)

"Guess the movie title by the screenshot".
The first one who post the right title should post
a screenshot of another movie by choice.

This one is too easy:

Beware:

Since Friday you are not able to download from shutupload.com while uploading is still available and working...

Error message:
As a result of an overload of server requests (too many downloads at once for too long a time), I can no longer provide download services for a few hours. I would need a dedicated server plan in order to handle the amount of download requests this site normally handles, which costs $174/mo...something I really cannot afford. Please bear with us. I will re-open downloading in a few hours. Please check back then.

Are semi-transparant dialog gui's (where you can choose an option to say to a NPC) for a 32-bit true color game supported for the current AGS version?

(it's 32bit alpha channel)

Some time ago I have bought the King's Quest Collection [2006 Vivendi Edition].
This edition is know for it flaws and I encountered a nasty one:
Today I tried to run Roberta Williams' King's Quest VII: The Princeless Bride v1.4 (windows version) but it failed to run.  :-\
My best guess is that this version might needs to be run as 16bit.

Once installed on Win 7, I got this message when starting up the game:

"This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.
Check you're computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit)
or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

(Official) patches doesn't work:
The official patch 'KQCollectionDBUpdate.exe' from www.sierrahelp.com doesn't work, can't seem to find the proper file(s)... And it might also be only for the DOS version since it has something to with DOSBOX.
There seem to be more patches around but these are all for the DOS version.

Virtual machine doesn't work:
I tried to run it on VMWare but then the graphics driver causes the game not to start.

Compatibility mode doesn't work:
Trying to run it in XP mode or Win95, 265 colors, 640x480, or any other setting: fail.

Anyone else have had this issue and know how to get it to run on Win7 64bit?  ???

General Discussion / Gobliiins Trilogy
Wed 25/05/2011 10:31:30
I'd like to know if the Gobliiins Trilogy is also for sale on a disc, preferably boxed in stead of a buy-and-download?
And if yes, where?

Thanx!

Just bought these two books (the second one is almost delivered, yeeh!):

Covers:

I was wondering if there is a good book about 'the history of Adventure Games'.
Does anyone know (a recommendable) good book about (the history of) adventure games only?

Does anyone know where to buy this awesome animated series?
It was on TV (Nickelodeon) about 6 years ago here in Holland but
never been able to find a place [store or online] where they sell it...

  • Star Trek,
  • Star Wars (particularly The Phantom Menace),
  • The Fifth Element,
  • Back to the Future,
  • The Time Machine,
  • Independence Day,
  • A Knight's Tale,
  • Men in Black,
  • Minority Report,
  • High Noon,

Something is wrong with this part of code. Not sure if the first row (which isn't right) is needed anyway.
Can someone please help me out with this?
The timer needs to run and get to the IsTimerExpired part.
Then the loop should restart the timer. The loop should be infinite.
And it's, of course, for the rep_exec.

Code: ags

Bool SetTimer = True
While 1
{ if(settimer ==true)
{(settime ==true)
{settimer(1,120);
Settimer = false;
}
If (istimerexpired(1))
{Display(“txt”);
Settimer=true
}
}

Can't wait to see this one in the cinema.
Cool-'fighting'-chicks-in-very-nice-suits, steampunk german soldiers, orcs and more weird stuff.
Anyone else who's gonna see this one?

If this will be released I would really like to get my hands on a copy:

Eriq Chang and Brandon Klassen's project, they've been secretly working on an Art Book that tells the graphical history of Sierra On-Line adventure games:

Read more here

Quoting BK:
"We can’t wait for the book to be released either. We have two editions of the book planned â€" both will be deluxe hardcover printings, but one will be a special commemorative edition that will include collectible lithographs by some of your favourite Sierra and adventure game artists. We actually can’t say too much about the release or the artwork just yet, and we still have surprises to come. You’ll definitely want to follow us on Facebook and register on ArtOfSierra.com to stay up to date with everything. We have lots of stuff coming that you won’t want to miss, including more details on the book, previews, giveaways and more."

General Discussion / MashMix
Fri 18/02/2011 14:05:47
Recently I found back [on another HD] a mix I've done for a girlfriend in 2008 or something and I upped it on youtube.

Click here to check out

It's mixed in Schismtracker. It was a quick job so don't expect high quality  8)

It's a jumpstyle mashmix of:
DJ Coone & Ghost - Pitch Up +
MIKA - Grace Kelly +
DJ John Doe - Stormdancer.

Warning:

if you don't like styles like jumpstyle/trance/techno then don't checkout this little mashmix :-)

B.t.w.: I do not use Schismtracker or any related software that much anymore but: are there any other AGS-ers using tracker software [maybe just for nostalgic fun]?

After I pre-ordered Gemini Rue [can't wait to play that one] , I'd like to
see your TOP 5 of favorite commercial AGS games you've bought and played.
Thanx  :)

EDIT: OK I must rephrase:
TOP X of  favorite commercial AGS games you've bought and played or probably wanna (or going to) buy.

Last year [09-2010] my girlfriend and I where in Greece for holiday which was nice b.t.w.

So, we decided to hire a quad. At the end of the day I let her drive while I was sitting on the
back, the 2nd persons seat. Unfortunately she lost control of the quad and we crashed,
ending up with her under the quad en me being launched and smashed on the road.
Result: She: a heavy concussion, me: a broken arm right below the elbow of my right arm.

I didn't want to have it fixed in Greece so I had to wait until the holiday was over, fly back to
Holland [pain due to the pressure in the airplane sucks], having a bacteria check and then wait
again for surgery. That means 3 weeks waiting having a broken arm...

It's weird but all muscles in the arm had shrunk to almost nothing and my wrist and hand where
very badly bruised. Couldn't even hold something lite like a cigarette, no power and shaking like
having Parkinson [hand wrist problem] or touch my nose with my index finger [elbow/arm problem]

After intensive physiotherapy I'm able again to use my hand/wrist and arm like I was used to,
although I will never be able to bent my hand like I could before the crash.
This summer the plate will be removed [Yeey] but I will need physiotherapy till the end of 2011...

My girlfriend is going well now, but it took her like 4 months to recover.
She is still having some minor issues, it will take about another 4 months to fully recover.

So I guess we were still lucky cause lot's of quad accidents seem to have a fatal [read:deadly] ending....

Lesson: never let your girlfriend driving a quad... [sorry Tamara  ;)]

In the x-ray photo you can see my right arm with the fracture [from A to B].
The inlay shows how they fixed it: a titanium plate with nine screws.
[the x-ray plate-with-screws inlay is not my plate and arm,  it's from someone
else since I do not have a copy of an x-ray photo of my own arm with plate]

What's the literal difference between 41000 48000 and 96000 samples for the hearing?

So you thought you've played all of ben304's AGS games?
I found out that I have this one in my collection: Hungry!, created somewhere in 2005.
So if you missed this one, grab a copy here [it's not available in the AGS database]

Sorry for posting this Ben  ;)

General Discussion / Sherlock TV Serie [2010]
Fri 17/12/2010 09:33:21
Has anyone seen this BBC TV-Serie: Holmes [2010]
As a Sherlock Holmes fan [on screen best played by Jeremy Brett in my opinion] I'd like to know if you like it or not and why.
I haven't seen any of the 3 episodes yet:
