The Rumpus Room / Re: I LOVE MARK LOVEGROVE

did he took a look at your Unintelligent Design?
did he spread his Nanobots upon you?
did he show you his Living Nightmare?
it definately was not a Lone Case for you
did he made it his Day of his Tentacle?
did he romance your stones?
was it just Point and Click?
did he named his Dick LaRenzo: Secret Agent?
was it like Indiana Jones - Cumming of Age?
did he put his James in your Neverland?
was it a Revelation for you?
did he said here's my Plan 10 from MY PANTS? Extended version?
was it easy or more like a Pixel Hunt?
did he also went to Bernard's Room?
did he Roast your Mother Goose?
did he Sent you to Oblivion?
did he showed you his Red Dwarf?
Scared Stiff?
you were, like Earl Bobby, looking for his Balls?
you gave him a A Walk In Da Tomb?
did you poomed his Perils?
did you played with his Little Jonny Evil?

Was it like:
Monkey Island: Carnival of the Banged?
Quest for Glory 4½ - So You Thought You Were his Hero?
Ben Jordan - Paranormal Investigator Case 4 - Horror at Number 69?
Knight's Quest IV - Come Today, Gone to Yesterday?
Life of D. Dick?

I'm not crazy, right?

...and monochrome could also be orange with black.

Orange-black or green-black is the most visual classic/retro you can go I guess.
But with dosbox you will still miss one thing; the great spinning floppydisks fx... ;D

Maybe that is my problem.. .  I'm playing in a window.... I'm playing at work and it makes it easier to click away when the boss comes by.  LOL!  I had problems finding the exits in a lot of the screens.   I had to click all over.  I have finally gotten out of that screen though.   It would definitely be helpful if the exits were a little more pronounced.

I found it very hard to play almost any ags adventure game in a windowed mode instead of Fullscreen mode, somehow it makes it very hard to find the exit screens.

And when I found the right exit spot I always hit a few times just outside the frame resulting in looking at the desktop or at a program that runs behind the game. Same effect as <alt><tab>.

That makes it so frustrating, I'm spending more time on finding the exit spots and clicking wrong then actualy playing the game and solving puzzles! >:(

For me no more Windowed mode, Fullscreen mode saves me a lot of trouble ;D

No, it should be here because this is a technical issue.  People have been complaining about the exits being hard to find, and the author specifically asked us which screens we were having trouble with the exits.  That's why I posted it here.

OK, sorry, misunderstood. True that Shayavr asked that one.
But i don't get it, I had no trouble at all with the exits... Unless I didn't play it in fullscreen.
But that's off topic I guess ;D
Sorry to bother you.

Robvalue had  good one: make the cursor become an arrow when you are over an exit.
But i guess that's gonna cost lot's of time...

I'm literally stuck in the place with the dead guy.  I can't seem to find the exit anywhere.  :(

Potch, your question should be in "Hints and Tips" topic:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=35689.0

I finished the game so I guess I can be of any help.

So, where exactly are you stuck? In the village with the dead pirate?

Please give your answer in the topic mentioned above ;-)

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Thu 09/10/2008 13:09:38
First i found some older progs like SCI Studio, roomedit & more of those.
Then I found Quest for Glory 4 1/2 on the net, when the site of that game was still alive.
After that I found the famous KQ1 remake of AGDI, the KQ2 remake was still not released.
I remember there was a site that was first called "Doors of Destiny" and later transformed into fanventures.com. It was done by Broomie (Jamie Broom) who is now doing PR of infamous-adventures.com. fanventures.com had real cool ags game info and interviews, but went down :-(
So, to keep short, I found the AGS website thanx to Broomie's fanventures.com and AGDInteractive.com.

That gives me another idea:
While making an adventure game in AGS, record that "scratching-5.25-inch-floppy-drive" sound (or look for such a wav file on internet) and play it in the game as background FX every time you go from room to room.
That will give ya the real oldshool feeling in the game... ;D

As extra you can also add some of the famous (as in larry) "oops" errormessages, like "you did something unexpected".
#3230
Why not run it on your "new" pc in dosbox and ajust the screen setting the way you want?

No prob.

But i solved it, to continue to the next part in the game, the game tries to play's another avi file.
I didn't noticed the second avi file at all but that one made the game go freezing the same way like the intro avi file did...

Sorry to bother you.

Yep, I'd thought as much, but just couldn't hit the right pixel!

Spoiler
Now I've managed to enter the caves and found a second star stone, but seen neither hair nor hide of the much-needed map. And is the moon rock in Nodha or is that found later?

Well,

for the

i believe you can get that one automaticly after a certain amount of solved puzzles, once you can go south-east from the two fellow-pirates-with-monkey you have the map..

for the

that will be found later indeed.

I'm !not! stuck with the intro movie (that one has indeed been asked millions of times now) and was easy to solve by deleting the movie file...

I'm stuck in going to a next part in the game itself, after watching the hologram thing (as i said before) the team will head for another place (I guess) but the screen turns black and nothing happends anymore...

Hints & Tips / Stargate Adventure
Sun 05/10/2008 13:58:41
Hai there,

Currently playing Stargate Adventure.
I renamed the avi file extension so the game will skip it because it will not run properly.
Now the team checked the
Spoiler
hologram

.
Then they should go to SGC and use the
Spoiler
elevator

but;
The game start loading and give me a black screen and nothing happends anymore...

Is it coused by the avi file or something else?

Help!
#3239
most easie way is to ren the avi file and than play the game, the game will not find the avi file and skip that part...
#3240
But my question wasn't who made the engine but who made the game (since the author seems to be [unknown]......
In a lot of topics people ask other people questions but when i do that i have to PM a person, do i not understand a forum rule or something??
