Hello fellow AGS'ers,

My Leisure Suit Larry 1 (EGA, AGI) Remake is close to getting into it's Beta Phase.

Therefor I'm looking for a set of Betatesters who are (preferably, but not required) in a way familiar with LSL1.
(That is the 1987 AGI EGA version, not the 1991 Sierra Remake or the 2013 Reloaded Remake.)

So I am looking for Betatesters who can break the game and try all the ways (also the non-logical ways) the game can be played.
(This also means I'm not really looking for just Playtesters who only play/test the game the linear way)

If you're interested, please let me know by PM or just post in this thread.
(and if you are familiar with LSL1, please do note so)

:)

Thanx,
-arj0n

Editor:

1.:
The Global Variables view now has 3 colums: Name, Type & Initial Value.
It would be nice to have an extra column 'Usages' so you can see right-away what var(s) aren't used (anymore).

2.:
The Global Variables view now only uses max half the width of the whole pane size. It would be nice if it would use all the space there is or at least twice the width it now does.

That's a cool one, Anas ;)

Little Update: Slot Machine is done.

Left: the slot machine (visually a little upgraded and slightly more user-friendly compared to the original EGA version).
Right: the Payoff Chart (still a bit under construction, visible when player clicks on the 3-symbols-line of the slot machine (for example, the 3 bar's in the left pic))

I really like seeing this interface with LSL. Keep up the good work 8-)
Thanx!
(It's still in it's early form, will fine-tune it later on. But I think I'm on the right track.)

Are you going to use the same old red ascii border text boxes? That'll be great.

WOW, congrats AprilSkies & Jim!! Awesome job!!

Arjon, please try out this test build:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/f1x5326lvfvvaxd/acwin_fix_dpi.zip
Well, running the acwin.exe does fix something else that is happening since a while:
I couldn't run my project in full screen.
The game's resolution is 320x200, and when setting it to run fullscreen it does run in a windowed 320x200 box.
Running this acwin.exe make the game run in fullscreen.

Did not use Win8 much, but for changing DPI googling find this: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/28310-dpi-scaling-size-change-displays-windows-8-1-a.html
Yes, tried these option already but no result for the winsetup.exe to run normal.

Thanx for the help so far CW & Snarky!

No clue how to set dpi in win8.1.

There's a setting in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display, where you change the size of all items (scaling level). Changing that doesn't fix it.

I'm running with the latest nvidia drivers.

I seem to have a problem for a while now with the setup.exe from compiled and it's driving me nuts :(

What is wrong with the display of the ags setup.exe screen on my pc?
I really hope someone has a clue so I can fix this...

Two examples of the setup screen below.
In each image is the one on top the setup.exe running on my pc, and the lower one the same setup.exe on tamara's running on pc.

@AprilSkies: Thanx April! So you're working on both your game and a mags game, wow, you have too much free time ;)

@Anas:

Yes, I'm not a big fan of keyboard gui's too but this way the player is allowed to skip the fact that he/she is forced to find the pw first (especially when replaying the game).

So I'd love to know what you guys would prefer for this situation (giving the password in the Lefty's bar to enter the door with the peephole):
> a gui with inputbox (which gives the player the ability to enter the password without being forced to find it first)
or
> a dialog with a hidden line that is shown after finding the password (which might be a 'cleaner' and more consistant solution)

Let me know!!
#860
@All: Thanx!!

@AnasAbdin: there's also a shorter password that works ;)

@Iceboty: I implemented the password puzzle close to the original using a gui with an input box.
Another solution was a dialog with option where the correct one is shown after finding the password (As AnasAbdin said: An event adding a dialog topic)... But I think the gui with inputbox is a better solution.
What do you guys think?

As for the VGA Remake: agreed with everything what you wrote about it! Never liked that version.

@Dirk: These extra fun-verbs are now most of the time added as interaction comment, giving randomly a silly/funny line.
In some cases they are implemented as dialog options, like with the hooker for example.

As for the music: I try to implement both PC-Speaker and Tandy and give the player the choice to choose between them in the settings screen.

---

There are quite some small differences in this version compared to the original AGI version. Two examples:

* In the original version you can simply type 'call taxi' to get the taxi on screen.
In this version you have to look at the taxi sign which make Larry give a comment about the sign, followed by a dialog with two options: 'call taxi' & 'never mind'.

* In the original version you can simply type 'stand' to get of his stool in Lefty's bar.
To get of your stool now, you now have to talk to Lefty (the waiter).
Then a dialog is shown with the several 'order <type of drink>' options plus a 'I gotta go' option to make Larry get of his stool.
