Well I first downloaded AGS between the 3rd of July and 5th of August 2001 judging by the dates the zip files I have were made... and that equals roughly 3.5 years... yay

As for me, well I think I want to work out whats happening with my long distance relationship with my girlfriend. I also want to become more independent and be able to look after things for myself. Um what else... I want to learn guitar more, and write songs with words, oh and to learn to sing...

Hmm thats probably enough for now.

Happy Birthday LGM, hope its a good one for you. I hope thats love enough...

I was going to mention them, but figured that I don't think that these forums endorse abandonware...

Hy, that isn't good at all. Unfortunately I don't live in Melbourne, so I dont know how I can help. I think that if you can get somewhere to stay, and your job sorted that is a start.

General Discussion / The Christmas Thread
Fri 24/12/2004 12:50:13
Well yes I guess I shall create the Christmas Thread of 2004. Merry Christmas to you all, and a Happy New Year.  := Remember not to spend that time on the computer, but with family and friends etc. And don't get too caught up with presents and everything, they don't really matter that much in the long run.

So yeah, I guess this is a bit early for most of the people here, but us Aussies usually get to celebrate Christmas before most of you guys.

Have a great day everyone. :D

That is a very nice logo you have made. Very simple but very nice. If I ever end up making a game I shall try and remember to use it. :)

Heh, I consider myself a faily old member, but I don't think I've been to the Hints forum more than about 3 times before. I don't know, I usually hang out in General Discussion or the Critics lounge. I guess I havn't played most of the games, and if I need hints for one, there is usually a walkthough somewhere, or there are plenty of hints in the games thread.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Pleughburg: The Alylum, but then again I don't expect it to be finished next year.
Also Larry Vales 3, but I don't supposed that will be finished ever...
Um Run Hot?

Man I'm getting bad with these games that I want to play but won't get to...

But yeah, FoY is a big one I'm looking forward to, as well at those Lagoon games. Apprentice III will be good, although I havn't gotten around to finishing II yet :P. Hmm I know there are others, but I will forget some so there is my list.

edit: Oh yeah I forgot to mention By The Sword. That was looking good, and I hope that you do continue work with what you have. And the Western by Chapter 11 studios is looking good, but I forgot its name.

I would keep the same thick black outline for the drawing of the bikini.

The car has enough gas to launch it into orbit. Try it some time!
Oh yeah I remember that now. That was cool...

But you don't seem to realise how long I tried to be able to get the petrol out of the car to fill up the chainsaw... Stupid useless chainsaw... :P

Ok, I'm going to comment as I listen.

The Hub: I like it alot. It builds up nice, although the chords at the start maybe sound a bit strange? But then goes cool at arount 30secs. Very nice. I like the drums now. The ending is a bit weak. I would prefer it with out that little last bit.

Boss Fight: Sounds tense. Mich like old school chase scenes. Would work nicely for a boss scene. Nice ending there.

Enclosure: I like the melody. Nice and peaceful. You have very good composing skills. The background melodies are nice too, at 40secs tho they are a bit fast?

Groovy: Hmm, its got a nice bass line, but it sounds pretty random. The crashing symbol gets annoying after a while.

Broken: Starting nice... I like the strings. It seems a bit short tho.

March: Nice war type music. As you say a bit unfinished. I would like it if that deep drum didn't pause at 23secs. It doesn't seem to get far at the end, it just sorta seems to have no melody to take it home...

Foodbelly: Nice and cheerful. I like it, but the pauses like at 11 secs annoy me. This reminds me alot of Zelda OoT in the forest. The ending needs to have something there, or does it loop?

Ronbat: Nice rock type song. I don't know, its good, but there is something strange with it.

Minimal: Nice and pleasant. The tapping notes seem annoying towards the start, and at 60 secs. Seems like good background music, but the tapping notes get annouying after a while.

Untitled: Nice seems alright, but nothing too special. I really like it at 55 secs.

Flat: Nice bass line with the synth. Very nice sounding, I love it. Maybe add some ride symbol. I don't know, I'm quite fond of that symbol :) I think the ending is a little flat :P, maybe use the run at 2:05 at the end, and build it up.

Hymn: Seems nice. I don't have much to comment on really. Seems a contemplative piece really.

Ruins: Nice although a bit random at times, but I guess thats its style. The ending has some strnage chords there somewhere.

Desert: Its good althogh some work needs to be done on it, like at the end.

Slowley: That wailing guitar doesn't quite go back to its original pitch which is annoying, in that is seems out of tune somehow?. But the piano thingy is nice I think the ending needs a tiny bit of work.

Overall, very very nice composing I like your work alot, and it will be cool to hear more of your music :D

And for the story behind the NES version, look no further than here: http://www.crockford.com/wrrrld/maniac.html

And if I were in the mansion I would get the petrol out of the car and put it in the chainsaw... Or was the car empty. I forget now.

btw, I love your sig pic Bombadil, quite funny

Fortnight = 2 weeks = the amount of time I think the photoshop contest should be. :P

Good work with the organisation of the whole thing. Its good to see companies keeping the genre alive alone with freeware designers such as ourselves. Its interesting to read the comments from the famous developers. Once again, good work in getting the whole thing organised and done. It's appreciated.

This is an interesting topic, and one situation comes to mind. Fairly recently (I forget when, but in the last 1-2 years) in Australia, there was this guy with a knife. He was surrounded by police and was threatening them. I don't know the full details of it, but one of the officers shot the guy and killed him. Going from what I have heard, that was a bad thing to do. Surly there is another way to disarm a man with a knife then to soot him.
