I was soooo waiting for this one...

EDIT

...And Henry VIII squashes the crap out of Ghandi!!! 94% to 5% damage!!!

This is awesome!

I'm crap at comeback punches (but I won my first fight).  ;D

You get the metal bar after you manage to open the door to the city clock. It's leaning against the wall.
#343
I think I missed this thread...  :-[

I played the game through again and managed to finish it. I think you're missing something.

Perhaps the grate isn't open yet?

Use the metal bar to open it. Then you'll have an opening.

Aside from that, I'm pretty sure you've done everything.
#344
One think that works for me is to make the game in small "modules", dealing with each puzzle as a mini-game.

#345
The truth is, it's not a very logical solution, but I needed to give away the hint on how to disable the bomb whether you got the terrorist or not...  :-\
#346
Yes, you can still get the code if the terrorist get away

Spoiler

Then the paper turns up in the hole there's in the floor in the terrorist room.

2. Open glovebox.
3. Take gun, wallet and cuffs.
4. Look at wallet and exit car.
5. Show open wallet to bum in the street (far right).
6. Ask about daughter. Tell him he's arrested. Ask about suspects. Ask about names.
7. Go inside building and ring doorbell to caretakers office.
8. Show open wallet to caretaker.
9. Ask caretaker about Hassem, look at intercom.
10. Get out and get back into caretaker's room. You should find out he's in league with the terrorists.
11. Draw gun by clicking it on caretaker.
12. Speak to caretaker.
13. Cuff him.
14. Pick up broomstick (bottom right corner).
15. Unplug intercom.
16. Search caretaker (get key).
17. Get out and use key on door.
18. Get into lift.
19. Use broomstick with manhole (twice).
20. From the top of the lift go right into the maintenance corridor.
21. Step over the second manhole.
22. Hide behind the first pillar counting from the left (do it quickly or the terrorist will catch you).
23. Shoot him when he walks past you.
24. Search corpse. Get knife.
25. Go back into the lift and into the seventh floor corridor.
26. Pick up broken floor board.
27. Use gun on door.
28. Shoot terrorist.
29. Search corpse. Get note. Look at note.
30. Walk into next room.
31. Look at window.
32. Use knife on girl's mouth.
33. Get back out. Use telephone to warn Edwards.
34. Look into bin.
35. Look/interact with bomb.
36. Disable bomb with the sequence of numbers you got in the note. Buttons are read as normal text (left to right, top to bottom). The first one is 1 and the last is 0 (10). "A" is the red button on the bottom right corner.
37. Watch ending scene.

There are alternate ways of solving some puzzles (for example, if the terrorist in the room gets away before you shoot him), but this is the intended sequence and should get you 100 points. You should be able to do it comfortably within the ten minute countdown.

BTW, thanks Edwin for taking the trouble to release your own walkthu'.

Thanks Klaus,

Sorry about those problems I caused. Nothing further from my intention.

The fact is I didn't feel too guilty about the whole issue, because I thought I had counted myself out of the comp. It was only by chance that I saw your PM today.

Congrats to chicken, his is a quality game, and it didn't take all that long for him to put it together.

I'll PM him about the rules for next MAGS, and we'll get back to you shortly.

Edwin Xie has written a walkthrough. It won't get you 100 points, but it should get you past the game.

My attempt.

You bg is pretty cool, but I agree the doors are slightly too big (just compare them to the size of those steps.

BTW, if that's the style you're going for, I would recommend you to dl "A friend Indeed: Adventures of JP and Cosmo" by Darth Mandarb from the main AGS page. It'll give you heaps of ideas, and the bg's are just superb.

Spoiler
You can't, really. The only way up is the lift.

Ye, you're right, the top particularly is a bit overdone. Still, I think it's pretty reasonable quality for not too much work.
#354
I recently made "Abducted: 10 Minutes!!!" which is a police story too.

Check the main AGS page or the completed games forum.
#355
I recently made "Abducted: 10 minutes" a conspiracy story where you have to rescue your daughter from a bunch of terrorists before she gets shot.

Check the completed games forum.

I just think that's the way to go if people want to finish their games...  ;D

I've added a tute I recently made for designing backgrounds "the sustainable way" (320x200 DOTT-style).

Here's the link.

Designing backgrounds the sustainable way (5 easy steps)

If the link doesn't work, or geocities tells you the page does not exist, just paste the link on your address bar.

I did post this in the tutorial thread as well, but I wasn't too sure people would look actually at it there.

Note that Geocities allows very limited bandwidth. Even though the site is pretty small you might get a message saying I've exceeded the limit and you can't access it. It should be back up within an hour from the moment you get that message, don't worry.

I made a 320x200 background drawing tutorial (DOTT style graphics). Please paste link on your address bar, otherwise geoshitties will tell you the page cannot be found.

It's "the sustainable way".

It looks excellent. A couple of quick crits:

- He appears to have only one cheekbone.
- I think you could remove that grey bit of scalp on his head. It doesn't add much and it doesn't look all that great.

BTW, I wish you posted your art more often. It's usually fantastic.

I'm not particularly sure about this, but you guys tell me:

On the 8th of October, without knowing the rules for this month's MAGS, I released "Abducted: 10 Minutes", a conspiracy story about family values and terrorism. I fulfils all rules for this month's MAGS.

Basically, you play an old cop whose daughter has been kidnapped as a sort of vendetta for something that happened a long time ago. You have exactly ten minutes to rescue her before she gets shot.

The question is: would this game qualify for this month's MAGS comp?

Just in case, a screenshot:

You can dl the game from the main AGS page (see latest added games), or alternatively, from its Completed Games thread.
