Good to see another Anarcho effort!!!

I'm happy to betatest. I've done lots of beta-ing in the past, including Frank the Farmhand, The Shiva, Cirque de Zale, Principles of Evil and others.

Good to see this underway again!

SSH, I think some of the games in the list ain't 2007 releases, but added to the database in 2007 (just nitpicking...)  ;)

Ah. That explains *everything*! I'm relieved...

Yeah, I know. I feel it's a bit of a let down when people beat my games way too quickly. Especially if I've been working on them for months.  :P

Don't worry. It wasn't the case with OUAC.

You mean you actually read the readmes? :o

:-X

;D

Anyway, enough offtopic talk now...

@aussie:

My pleasure  ;)
(Though by seeing the time between your original post and edit, you've seen the end of the game far too soon! I really need to put more overly complicated puzzles in my next game!! And a maze!!! And reduce the walk speed to 1 pixel/minute!!!!  And have the text displayed hebrew style!!!!! :D )

Aussie, I too am amazed. Especially, did you solve the cherry bomb by yourself? That small amount of time doesn't leave space for brute force!

LOL

I haven't completed the game yet!

I saw the acknowledgements in the readme.txt file, that's all...  ;D
#45
Dang! I nearly missed this one! And I was looking forward to it so much...

EDIT: Thanks for the mention in the acknowledgements. That's a completely unexpected trait!

Awesome. I loved it. This is the first adventure game I've cared to finish and post about for a long long time. It is thanks to people like you that adventure games are still alive.

What about nature? Romanticism is very closely linked to the addressing of the sublime nature.

I agree, it seems to be particularly concerned with nature unleashed, you know, storms, winds and so forth.

Indeed, scripting is one of those things where if you do it well, nobody will really notice; whereas if you do it badly, there'll be all sorts of complaints about it.

So scripting is basically like refereeing a football match.

The only thing I can say is that group projects are generally more difficult to complete than individual efforts, particularly if the project is big.

This is simply because the more people involved, the greater the chance is that one will drop off. Then again, you may be paying the programmer, so perhaps this rule won't hold in your case.

I agree with VinceTwelve, though, I would personally go for one programmer rather than several.

It looks pretty good to me. Maybe the blood (is it blood?) on the wall looks a bit odd. I think the bright edges have a lot to do with it.

Also, maybe you should take advantage of Neole's upload space (check sticky topics in the critics lounge). For some reason, the image took a little while to load on image shack.

I haven't played AGS games for awhile (I've been a bit busy lately), but I'm giving this one a run. It looks pretty good...

EDIT:

The game is great. Short and sweet. Quality over quantity. I love the atmosphere and all those little animations.

The only thing that bugs me a bit is how the player character moves so slow. Like somebody suggested, it'd be good to make him walk quicker.

Wow, I love some of those edits spaceboy!   ;D

Vertigoaddict, I also like yours because it adds some depth to the sprite. Maybe the foot needs a bit of work, though. The leg should probably be a bit shorter.

Besides, depth needs to be achieved throughout. At the moment, the character is flat all over except for his foot.

Now, slightly off-topic:

Third, consistency- if you use ripped graphics together with your own graphics, you'll have a hard time to get a consistent look.

But it's possible. QFG 4 1/2 does it quite well, even if it rips graphics off different games.

I agree with everything you say, nevertheless.

You all are wrong.

The winner is Monkey Island 1.

In case you are forgetting, I'll remind you.

[Island shot]
[Fire pit near woods]
[Playable character enters screen]
[The game begins]

You just get thrown into the game. Awesome.

Seriously, I'm surprised we accepted that at the time, and still accept it.  I love it dearly though. There can be beauty in simplicity.

I'd have to go with that too.

At a time when only the old sierra games were around, the first Monkey Island was such a revolution...

Hi there.

This is the first time your question comes up. I honestly had no idea about that bug (?). All I can say is that as far as I can remember, there's no cup involved in solving the game's puzzles. You should be ok.

It's inside the cabinet there is on the left hand side of the room. But you need to talk to Carlisle before the hotspot comes up.

How about this?

I think his left arm should be a bit more hidden behind his body.

Besides, I reckon he's too tall and lanky. I've shortened his torso and arms by 2-3 pixels.

And just for the record, I think it's a tremendous sprite.

aussie, I like the look of those too! I wonder how many completed rooms in ags all those games actually have. CSM had about 3, never any more. I can't quite tell, it won't load in any version of AGS now :p

I guess that's the really important point. If you have the talent, it's not that hard to make one great-looking bg. The hard thing is to maintain the effort and complete a game that lives up to that level.

As for those games I referred to:

Daemons in the attic: There is a very nice 3-4 room demo, which I still have in my hard drive. I'm not sure if the link from the games page is still active.

Tablet of Altheria and Maya con Dios: There were three or four screenies in the games in production thread. I think you can still find it if you do a search.

**************

Now, while I'm still at it, here are some more. These may still be in production but we haven't had news in awhile:

Hero Theorem, by Bernie:

Inc's Henri 6:

Corby's Heroine Quest:

I post the screenies because I love good-looking screenies.

The Legend of Leitor's Edge!!!

Now, that's a blast from the past.
#59
I used to save lots of beautiful screenies from "games in production" threads, but I can't remember where I've put them.

A few I could find:

It's from "Daemons in the Attic", a game I was really looking forward to!

That one is from "Tablet of Altheria".

This is from "Maya con Dios", by Steve McCrea.

BTW great thread Snarky!

AGS Games in Production / Re: Square John Boy

Lots of personality coming through those sprites. Congrats.

I am really intrigued as to how you're going to implement that "can't talk/can barely think straight" feature for the main char. It's something I can't wait to see.

From Emily Enough to Square John Boy, all the stuff I've seen from you is quite creative. Besides, I like this new graphical style better. I wish you the best of luck with this project.
